  1. Stone and Bennetti made a good point about Gio. When he's flying off the mound a couple things happen: 1. He loses command 2. His velocity goes down. Ever since they made that point I realized that. He's much more controlled on the mound when he's hitting 93-94 and when he's flying around he's more 90-91. Interesting. Maybe he's not finishing his delivery/having a bad follow through.
  2. it doesn't suck, if you look at movement. He has no command of it. If he gets it over the plate hitters will start to miss it. He either leaves it up in the zone or throws it in the dirt.
  3. His change and slider are damn good too, but he leaves his change at the top-middle of the zone 99% of the time, and he doesn't know where the slider is going either. I tend to agree with Hawk about RHP, where if they have both a curve and slider they should experiment with them in the 1st couple innings and stick with the one that is working best the rest of the game. The only time he gets swings and misses on his change is when he misses belt high and a little outside.
  4. That is what is so frustrating about him, is that his offspeed stuff is so wicked but he can't get any of it over the plate.
  5. I'm not giving up on Giolito quite yet, Just went to gameday and most of his fastballs are 92-93. What is weird is that it seems that when he first gets on the mound for an inning he's down at 90-91. His two fastest were 94.1 and 93.9 today, which is encouraging. It seems like he's getting comfortable with his delivery and the velocity is starting to return.
  6. How come it is ok to say this about Giolito but not in general?
  7. Bennett Sousa, LHP UVA what is the website that people are getting scouting reports from?
  8. I think it might be tough for Davidson to get his job back. Palka is crushing balls.
  9. /hawk That ball was kilt /hawk Moncada is about to go on a tear.
  10. Moncada and Madrigal share birthdays with Frank Thomas and Paul Konerko respectively. Two huge pieces in the rebuild, and arguably the two greatest all around hitters in franchise history. What does it mean????? (nothing really, just an interesting coincidence)
  11. You misunderstood. What I meant was that the college player is the "blue chipper" and that the HS player in that range is the super risky bet. If you can afford to play the game enough, you're going to hit and draft a superstar. It is a numbers game. You take a few in the 2-10 round each year, you probably hit on 2-3 of them over a decade. You keep doing it because the reward is so high.
  12. When it comes to scoring goals, there's never been anyone better. He's going to pass Howe at the very least, with an outside chance at becoming the All time leader. That feat, coming at a time where the Art Ross winner usually has 100-110 points, is incredible. and more impressive than whatever goal scoring that Gretzky or Howe did. Goalies are bigger and better than they ever have been, with lighter and bigger equipment too.
  13. This annoys me. Sometimes, teams should take a shot on HS players in the 1st 5 rounds. It is like only buying blue chip stocks. More often than not, you get a good return but you take out the potential to make a fortune.
  14. OK, now knowing that Rocker, De Sedas and Siani are likely to go to school, I hope they go for their best available arms in the next 3 rounds.
  15. Rocker, De Sedas, Kloffenstein or Siani. If Rocker is there they need to go for it, IMO.
  16. Makes up for all of the years of being super frugal on the draft.
  17. I want Rocker, if there. Gonna take some dough but why not?
  18. I had bad intel, BA had a bit on Eierman on their twitter so I assumed that he was going there.
  19. There goes Hankins. Wouldn't be surprised if Rocker goes to Pittsburgh. They're not afraid of HS pitching.
  20. Rocker and Hankins aren't making it to 46. Move on now, don't be disappointed.
  21. I knew it. They wouldn't pass on a guy in their own backyard.
