  1. What do you do if you're Ventura IF Shields gets shelled in the 1st again? Do you go get him before it gets out of hand, or do you throw away the game, and save the Pen?
  2. Now that I remembered that they had Dillon Tate, Mazara/Tate/Profar has to be the starting point for a Sale deal to TX. If I'm Hahn, They aren't getting Sale without giving up Mazara and Tate.
  3. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) Texas is in serious need of starting pitching. Lewis, Darvish, and Holland all on the DL. One of the few teams that have enough to trade for Sale. Need to have serious discussions with them. Sale and Navarro For Profar, Gallo, Brinson, Luis Ortiz, Yenson Yrizarri SS ton of potential, Michael De Leon SS big international signing a year ago. Getting a lot talent on the cusp and down the road. No Dice. They'd have to start with Mazara, Profar and Gallo and add to that. Mazara would be an absolute must with any deal from TX. Not including Mazara? *click*
  4. The scary thing is Hahn could be talking to Dombrowski about a deal for Sale or Quintana........Nobody trusts him to make the correct decision on return.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) And I notice we're not even listing Rodon as a "positive" anymore. A mentally challenged jackass could have made that pick. You had to be willing to pay over slot to get him. Astros/Marlins were not, so on to the Sox he goes.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) We're the patsies of the Central. Sox are officially a clown team. They've been the worst team in baseball for over a month now. They're not going anywhere. Time to start a huge rebuild/reload. No need to fire Robin now but work on a manager for next season while trading off everybody except Sale and Quintana and Abreu, same scenario as after last season. Trade everybody you can besides those 3. Either spend like the Red Sox/Dodgers/Tigers and try to buy a championship, or tear this f***er down. To quote the great philosopher Yoda: "Do or do not. There is no try"
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) Yeah, they were so wrong on Abreu, Quintana, Eaton (trade but he was a rookie), Sale, etc. They were wrong on everyone else. Their success rate is those guys and nobody else up to this point. Everyone else has been a total disaster since 2010-11. They always pick the wrong guys. It is like the players forget how to play baseball when they put on a Sox uni, then magically remember when they get traded away for a bag of heavily used jock straps.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Elgin, and this is where you're specifically right here. Hahn's not a talent evaluation and development guy. Not his forte. It's the only reason Preller has a job still in SD, that's his major strength, minor leagues....talent evaluation and development. That has to be the foundation of a team like the White Sox with a middle 40-60% payroll but definitely not one who will be able to spend more than "average" until a new broadcast rights deal in 2019. Look at what he did in Texas while there: Odor, Profar, Leonys Martin, Odubal Herrera (now with Philly), Mazara (ROY), Chi Chi Rodriguez and a slew of other minor leaguers that gave them the depth to trade for Hamels. http://padrespublic.com/sacrifice-bunt/aj-...tten-strengths/ AJ Preller's Forgotten Strengths Completely agree, on the fact that the farm system has to be the foundation. They have to pour more money into scouting and player development, instead of saving it for the splashy move at the deadline. Go into the season with a sound team, and add to it when a) it makes sense to, and b) with a player that it makes sense to add. I have argued with buddies of mine that they should be going more for guys like Pineda and Bauer, talented guys who are cost controlled, have ace quality stuff and need a change of scenery, rather than high priced aging talent. Also, when you're not trying to win, try to identify free agents who have had down years and flip them on a bounce back year for either a failed guy with lots of talent that needs a change of scenery or talented guys at the lower levels of the minors.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) What are we complaining about? A trade to help the team and we predict doom and bad mouth management for trying They shouldn't be trying. They should be cleaning house at all levels of management and player development, trading whatever assets they have and doing a scorched earth rebuild. I'd rather watch horrendous baseball knowing there is a plan in place than watching horrendous baseball with no plan in place. Re: The piece that that SSS wrote about the Padres, I'd argue that the Padres are at a better and more advantageous place because they realize where they are as an organization. The Sox either have no clue, are in denial, are delusional or a combination of the previous 3. Over the winter of 2014-2015 I said what are they doing, they made a 77-79 win team. They should not have traded off minor leaguers, they should have been gutting the major league roster. Do you think it is any coincidence that once players are here they get worse??? Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Until they fix the stench, nothing will change. I have watched 120-145 games/season since 2001. I love baseball as entertainment. I have always said that baseball is your friend, it is there for you every day and even when the game ends, there is a new one tomorrow. I am a Sox fan, so replace baseball with Sox. My friend is betraying me, because I believe my friend will no longer exist in 5-10 years. Furthermore the Cubs success combined with the Sox incompetence, may signal the beginning of the end for the Chicago White Sox. We may be looking back 5-10 years from now saying "Why is there only one team here now?" We would be able to point to 2009-2011 where the fortunes of both teams changed. The Sox took a bad approach by not firing KW and bringing a group of aging "heroes" back for a couple more failed runs rather than starting over from scratch. Might I point out that the last 2 times the Sox started from scratch were the periods from 1986-89 and 1997-99 and from 87-90 they drafted the cornerstones of some highly competitive teams from 1990-94, and trading some of those guys in 1997 turned into pieces of the core of the competitive teams from 2000-06. Maybe they should look back at those successes and wake up.
  10. Watch Shields become a Danks-like Albatross and Tatis Jr. become an uber prospect. Sox gonna Sox.
  11. At least the Padres realize what they are as an organization at this point, the Sox OTOH...............
  12. I'd like to hold off on the trade speculation until around the all star break because I'm not so sure this is not a 4th or 5th place team. I don't think the Sox have anything anyone wants other than Fulmer/Adams/Anderson anyway, and they shouldn't go anywhere. Therefore, Let's hope that Frazier and Lawrie break out of their average slumps so we can get some decent pieces for them as a one year rental this offseason.
  13. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) Texas has thier s***ty closer in after blowing a game yesterday.... They had pitched 3 days in a row. Nobody to go to other than the schmucks. Please tell me what they were to do?
  14. Guys, Robertson and Jones were unavailable tonight. What are you going to do? Robin had no choice but to put the schmucks out there. .
  15. Coop: Carlos, Your command isn't good enough tonight to pull a Sale. You have the stuff, use it. Rodon: OK Coach. *Has 1-2-3 inning* Coop: See?
  16. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) I think anyone who supported LaRoche is going to be gone, whether before OD, around the TDL or this offseason. Sale and Eaton especially. IMO this will start the scorched earth rebuild. 2016 is a failure before it even started IMO. They are going to quit on the management, and it would not surprise me if Sale sticks it to the Sox by complaining of either Injury or just jakes the season. I think the Sox know that and it would not surprise me if Sale is NOT the OD starter, and instead is elsewhere on 4/4. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ C'mon guys did you actually think this post was serious? It was written in a serious tone, but to be funny/sarcastic. It is so ridiculous that I thought that people would see the implied joke. There is no rational thought in there. I was venting my frustration about KW still being here, and I can't stand the guy and it would be such a White Sox thing to do, to trade their ace over these shenanigans. I have a little Sox PTSD, because almost every move that they have made since 2010 has backfired horribly. Just wanted to clear that up with everyone. Here's to a successful 2016 season
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) Ugh. Where do you people get this? These types of posts are just embarassing. I was just venting. I know that it was a poor post. Funny looking back at it. Not happy about the s***storm that this has become, a little worried about the team after this . If anyone can make fathom look like an optimist it is me. :

  19. I'm not going to give my thoughts on this until others have given their input. What would you think if every citizen in the country was given the RIGHT to work, as in a guarantee of employment after graduation from college or a vocational school? Where YOU have the power to leave your job if you're not happy, and are guaranteed training for your next job through a vocational school. Where YOU(and your co-workers), not some suits upstairs, decided who was to run things and how? Where everyone was guaranteed a living wage and those who wanted the extra responsibility could have it and were paid accordingly, or it was rotated over a time period through everyone? Where the only stockholders of any company were the employees themselves and everyone shared in the success and failure of the business? Could it be said that this is the only way for TRUE DEMOCRACY? Flame away
  20. Give me Gordon or CarGo, they need a LH bat for the middle of the order. LaRoche isn't going to cut it.
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 12:12 AM) Lol at this silly thread White people put waaay to much stock into this "white privilege" thing. I really don't see it. Being born rich, whatever race you are >>>>> being born white and poor. /thread However there are a disproportionate percentage of the rich people who are white. I don't know the numbers exactly, but I'd guess that at least 85% of those people who are super rich are white. Now on to another subject: If you are white AND disabled, good f***ing luck to you. You get no protections except those under the ADA, which are a start but need to be expanded at this point. If you are a racial minority, and disabled, you have double the rights of the other guy. It makes a company more willing to take you on because you kill two tax breaks with one job. Otherwise FOD. Everybody should know how business treats disabled people. It is despicable. I have firsthand experience with it, but won't go into it. there is a reason why the disabled have 70% UE even in the best of times. You are allowed to ask for "reasonable accommodations" but "reasonable" is not defined by you it is defined by the employer, which in turn means that the question is asked: 1) Does it cost us a cent to make this request possible? if the answer is no, then sure, come aboard. if it costs them even 50 cents to make that accommodation, then f*** off, that is unreasonable. In any event, did anyone hear about the scandal with the ADA hiring? Despicable, greedy, and selfish. I hope these people rot in jail, and i think that we should take all of the $ from the CEOs of these companies involved bank accounts and put it all into the SSI/SSDI fund. It is super tough to live on less than 900 dollars a month even if you have not to pay for room and board.
  22. The rest of the league: Stan we know the situation you are in. Turn around and bend over.
  23. If you guys are so convinced that Avisail Garcia is Viciedo part deux(or worse) then there is no sense moving him because his value is only as a throw in anyway. Obviously all of the (armchair) GMs in baseball read fangraphs and know that Avi is one of the worst players, if not the worst player in MLB. So then he has zero value; an AAAA player. Might as well see what you have and ride it out like Viciedo in that case .
  24. Is a "superstar" in sports a) A perennial all star or b) A term for a player who transcends their sport; only reserved for the best of the best of all time? My belief is b. The best way I can put it, is to use the NBA for an example. IMO, in your sport you have to be on the level of a Magic, Bird, or Jordan in order to be a superstar. I believe there can be eras of a sport that lack a superstar. What say you?
