  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) So we get 2 hits in the first inning. What inning will it be before we get our 3rd hit. We will get our next hit tomorrow.(half green)
  2. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) I guess that's good that to only allow 1 run. The fact that he allowed the run sucked, but the fact that he got out of the jam without allowing another run was good.
  3. Clay showed some guts there pitching out of that jam.
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) I think that complaint was true, and even Floyd has talked about it. The problem with Gavin over the years was the deer in the headlights look he would get on the mound when he got into trouble. It seemed like he hated being on the mound. Even in Spring Training, guys were saying Floyd was walking around with a different attitude, and you could see it. The stuff has pretty much always been there. There was a big difference in Gavin's stuff today than what he has had the rest of the season. His 4 seam fastball was hard(93-94mph), 2 seamer had a lot of late movement, curve was biting, and the slider was just plain nasty at times. If we get this Gavin Floyd(stuff wise) to go along with his newfound confidence on the mound, we may have the pitcher who the Phillies thought they were getting when they drafted him #4 in 2001. And that guy has a possibility to be a true #1.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Wow, think we might have caught a break there. Looked like he went too far. doesn't matter, late on an 86 mph fastball.
  6. and what's sad about this game is that Javy will get the loss.
  7. By the end of this inning, we will be losing. This reeks of a loss. I'd like to have Thornton prove me wrong.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) Someone down the RF line has to take one for the team and touch that for the automatic double. Yeah and get arrested and never be able to go to a game again, that's stupid.
  9. I post at WSI, but I am very careful about my posts there. One time I bashed the team royally in 2006 when Garland blew a 7 run lead against the Royals, and I got flamed, one person told me to go to Clark and Addison. I can't stand all things Cubs, so it kinda stung. I am not afraid to point out the flaws of the team, and that got me in trouble there. I also got flamed in the offseason for advocating blowing up the team after last year's s***ty showing. It is my opinion that the Sox probably won't win the division, but I am okay in saying that here, but if I dare say that at WSI, I'd get flamed. If you post there only post when you're in a good mood about the team. The Sox are a very inconsistent team, and the Twins are much more constistent. That is my basis of this opinion. There are some good things about WSI, but if you criticize the team, beware for an unhappy experience.
  10. Gavin needs to be on a very short leash in the 6th. First hit or walk, yank him. Carrasco better be warming up in the pen.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) These hitters continue to chase that change-up that's way off the plate. The Sox are lucky that Braden threw fastballs in the first inning, because now he's spotting the changeup low and away, and every time that a left handed pitcher does that from the first inning on, they shut out the Sox.
  12. Hawk, if the heart and soul of baseball is scouting, then why don't you tell KW that he needs better scouts.
  13. Grady Sizemore, Joe Mauer, and especially Justin Morneau.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) Hawk is tearing him apart about going to 3-2 on every batter. Hawk really seems to get on Gavin, especially compared to his analysis of Javy. And rightfully so. It royally pisses me off when pitchers nibble after getting to 0-2 or 1-2 Javy and Gavin are constant violaters of this rule. why don't major league pitchers and catchers know that the best way to put away a hitter when you're ahead is to go right after them.
  15. Is the WGN gun fast or is Coop unleashing Gavin's fastball?
  16. Is the WCIU gun juiced again, or is it accurate this time around?
  17. Not meaning to hijack the thread, but with how we've seen things pan out with Crede's back, Can we safely conclude that Chris Williams' career with the Bears is over before it even started? Football is a much more violent sport than baseball, and this seems like the same injury as Crede.
  18. Has anyone else noticed that Danks' velocity has dropped off sharply since the all star break? his fastball was consistently 92-95 in the first half and since his FB has been at 88-91.
  19. Maybe Homer Bailey is coming back as well for one of Coop's reclamation projects. One can only pray.
  20. Do you think that Cooper unleashes Gavin's mid 90s fastball that he had last September next year now that Gavin has confidence in himself? I have been surprised all season with his fastball being at 89-92 mph, and that cooper probably had him do that for control and a confidence builder. If Coop decides to unleash it we may have an ace on our hands.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Listening to Hawk, the only umpire strike zone descrepancies occur to White Sox hitters. He's right. I haven't seen a Sox pitcher get that kind of pitch called a strike for them all season, and I've watched almost every game.
  22. Does anyone know what the news was on Nevin Griffith's injured elbow? I haven't seen him listed as starting for GF. I'd like to know because he could be a good one.
  23. This would be by far the dumbest move that KW could make. You trade away the only pieces of your farm system that are left for a RHP whose fastball tops out at 86 mph? I don't care what type of season he's having, but Duchscherer is not a guy you trade for. He is a fluke if there ever was one. His numbers are probably a product of the park he plays in. I have no clue why Major League hitters aren't all over this guy, but they will be soon enough. He just doesn't have the stuff to sustain long term success as a starter. He'd have to have Greg Maddux control for that to happen. I may buy that he does this year, but he won't longer than that.
