  1. What is going on so far reminds me of the 2014-16 "mired in mediocrity" years. I don't want to have that feeling again.
  2. At this point, I just want the important/injured position players that aren't performing(Moncada, Eloy, arguably Vaughn) to get their shit together. If Abreu/Grandal/Pollock are just old and it sinks the season, so be it. I want there to be hope if they don't decide to trade Giolito and Lynn, because they probably won't.
  3. I keep forgetting that Robert is 24, not 26+ like the other guys. He still has room to grow. Same with Vaughn. They're in a completely different place in their careers than the other "core" players.
  4. Let's hold our horses until he actually does it. Way too much projection going on. I've been guilty of projecting young players myself. No more.
  5. Players typically play 150 games or fewer and some quick math has him on pace for 25 HR right now. (5HR/30GP)*150=25
  6. Given that he's probably going to play 150 games he's on pace for exactly 25
  7. Robert isn't living up to it either. Where's the power from him? Just like Moncada, he might peak at 25 HR.
  8. I thought they were good, but not good enough. I actually thought that they'd win 87-88 games this year, and that it would be good enough to either win the division or finish 2nd by a game or two.
  9. I thought that the Sox might fail because the ALC was better, not the entire offense falling off a cliff. I thought they might struggle offensively more than most thought, but nobody could have seen the entire lineup other than Anderson flirting with Mendoza. What is actually happening is over the top bad even more than my natural pessimism would allow. The ALC still sucks outside of the Twins and the Sox are right there with them.
  10. They were supposed to be a playoff team. They're not. I'm still coming to terms with the fact that they're bad. Thank you. I have not reached the acceptance stage yet.
  11. Their run differential says they're much worse than a .500 team. The FO is going to bring the band back together though and say this was a "Murphy's Law" season where everything that could go wrong, went wrong.
  12. That's why I said maybe I shouldn't care anymore. Or at least adjust my expectations accordingly such that a playoff appearance would make me content until that change happens. Like I don't even know what the Sox can do anymore. So much of their payroll is tied up in the guys that were supposed to be their core and the vets to supplement them. All are underperforming outside of the pitching staff, of which none are locked up.
  13. I mean really, they should trade Giolito and then replace him in the winter if they want to bring the band back together one more time.
  14. I know. It's to the point where it's hard to care until there is new ownership.
  15. Let me tell you my rationale first. I want them to lose every game because it's the only way that the org will make the necessary changes to actually compete.
  16. Is it terrible that I want them to lose every game right now?
  17. Moncada is grounding to 2B or striking out during every PA right now.
  18. Point taken, but I think he was playing well even 5 years ago.
  19. Doesn't Matt Kuchar kind of count? I don't think anyone expects Tiger to do anything anymore. His body is just broken at this point.
