  1. Crap... although it's difficult to win games when you don't score runs.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) theyll toss gavin if he does...i think if we see it, it will be either from a reliever or at the end of gavins outing Was a warning already issued?
  3. Gotta love AJ. Who else would've thought to try that? Smartest player in MLB today.
  4. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) i duno man, i understand where hawk's coming from but dam everytime something like this happens, hawk loves to just let them have it, tell all the facts, and just want to kill the other team or something lol Hawk is convinced that there is some vast conspiracy against the Sox, and he never shuts up about it. It's difficult to believe that he was actually a pretty decent play-by-play guy back in the '80s and early '90s.
  5. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Why does Hawk think it was intentional? Most likely because Greinke threw at Quentin's head in the last AB.
  6. After Greinke threw at Quentin's head earlier in the game, I expect to see Gavin plunk somebody in the top of the 5th.
  7. QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) And how do they do that? Stand outside his office? Not acting like a bunch of classless d-bags would be a good place to start. If they don't like Kenny's decision to throw a minor-league jouneyman into the starting lineup, expressing their discontent with their wallets would be much more effective than booing a minor-league player for being a minor-league player. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) You're thinking far to intelligently for thousands of people in attendance. No kidding. Silly me.
  8. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) Yeah and it's not like CQ has proven to be a major leaguer player while Wise never has or anything. My point is that they're booing Wise for being in Chicago, rather than Charlotte. It's not Wise's fault that he's currently in over his head. They should be booing Kenny instead.
  9. So how much longer before Quentin gets booed? It's not like he's played any better.
  10. Watching the Royals cast over Extra Innings. Their network just showed the Royals up 2-1.
  11. I'd say Alexi as well. Less K's than Fields and more speed on the bases. Not that Getz appears to be overwhelmed or lacking in confidence (far from it), but I'm not sure that it'd be a good idea to throw him into the leadoff spot tomorrow. Development-wise it might be better to keep him in the two-hole for a while. (That said, I have no idea who in the heck else on this team could legitimately hit leadoff.)
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) Man, they have really improved the video quality on MLB.com post-game highlights. No kidding, and thanks for the heads-up. Kudos to MLB for putting those highlights in 720p.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) He plays well above his skill-set. I expect to see him put up 30+ doubles this season and 10+ homers too along with a .280ish average. He's just a smart player with a good idea of what he wants to do at the plate. I'm excited as hell. As am I. Getz looks like he could be another Ray Durham (but better defensively). Perhaps even a legit leadoff hitter by next year.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Thank god for Jim Thome. Josh Fields did a couple of things today that our last 3B couldn't DREAM of doing (that's the last time I'll compare the two.) Getz is going to be a hell of a player for us, can't wait until we find a major league hitter to pair with him at the top. Richard, Dotel, Jenks -> excellence Also nice to see Mark limit the damage to 2 runs over 5 IP. Pretty good for a guy who obviously didn't have his best stuff today.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) "If you can't hit that pitch, you're selling cars."
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) I'm sure some might disagree. But I think Meche/Greinke might be the best 1-2 combo in the division. Very possible. Greinke is one of those guys who hasn't lived up to his "stuff" yet, but is still young.
  17. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) Meche is good today, but lets find a way to scratch across a run. Or just hit a HR. It's what we do. Yep, we had an opportunity to break it open with the bases loaded earlier, and got very little out of it.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) i like clayton in the pen for these kinda situations. I concur.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Clayton Richard in to pitch the 6th. Good call on Ozzie's part. Mark was at 97 pitches and didn't have his good stuff today. The score could easily be 5-1 right now.
  20. The silver lining to Wise is that if he continues to suck this badly, we'll have a better defensive CF (BA) and a better leadoff hitter (Getz) soon.
  21. Well, that's good news. Not holding my breath, though, as I remember them having audio quality issues in recent years. We'll see...
  22. QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) Fixed jk I'm done man. If you really care that much about Walsh, start a new thread and I might chime in. If not, I'm dropping it now, because this thread is about Frank Thomas. Fair enough.
