  1. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) With the Blue Jays trading for Brett Wallace, Lyle Overbay could be the target. Overbay is really not a power bat though.
  2. Really like this trade. Fills the need for a leadoff hitter. Didn't have to give up too much, especially since the Dodgers are picking up half the tab. Pierre is on of the premier bunters in baseball too, which is something the Sox have been lacking.
  3. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) The FA market for 1B is super thin, so maybe the Angels would be desperate. I don't see anyone taking Konerko's contract though. But that's exactly the point. Konerko's contract is nothing compared to the contract Tex will get.
  4. With the Brewers offering nearly what the Yankees did to Sabathia, couldn't the Brewers pull off a trade for Peavy? They most certainly have the prospects to do it. I don't know about no trade clauses in Peavy's contracy, but it seems like the two teams would match up well.
  5. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) And considering all the goings on in Illinois...I'm not surprised. I'm sure it affects the Sox in some ways. Yeah, KW was "candidate 3" for the vacant senate seat.
  6. He also bats from the left, which is a need.
  7. From espn http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?i...ce=MLBHeadlines Does this make us players?
  8. Jeremy Jeffress, Brewers: It was a down year for righties in the AFL and while relievers like Bud Norris and Andrew Carignan excelled, we're going with the guy who wowed folks stuff-wise. Trouble is, he only pitched three times before being shut down, and one of them came when he was clearly not at his best. That being said, he showed the plus pure stuff that made him a first-round pick in 2006. He hit triple digits with his fastball and showed a good breaking ball as well. His changeup still needs work, but it looked like he was headed in the right direction.
  9. Jeremy Jeffress supposedly looked good in the AFL.
  10. I never said only Gwynn, but I would definitly take him as part of the deal.
  11. I'd take Gwynn Jr. in a heartbeat, they have not been able to use him enough because of their crowded outfield.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) Im watching the game where Bartlett hit a weak grounder to third for a single. Im watching the game where the Rays went to sacrifice on the next pitch but instead Maddon out manages Ozzie and has Iwamura swinging. Im watching the game where the Sox continue to pitch to Longoria with 2 outs. Could Javy done better? Sure. But the facts are in this case he is not being put in a position to succeed. Outside of what 3 hits no one on the Rays has even come close to hitting the ball hard? No matter how you want to spin it, Vasquez is just not good enough. He doesn't have the mental makeup to handle this kind of stage. In the last week when the games meant the most he has been horrible.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) Jose would have given up 8ER by now. KW needs to go after good young pitching come the off-season. I would disagree with that. Contreras has come up big in meaningful games wher Vasquez always folds under the pressure.
  14. Can we please stop the Wise is not good enough talk now? He's one of the good stories of this year.
