  1. It's amazing how far Brohm has fallen. Definitely an example of a guy who really screwed himself by not coming out early.
  2. Is Joe Girardi the worst manager to win a world series?
  3. It's amazing how much the Angels got outplayed this series, I'm surprised they won two games. Bad hitting, bad pitching, bad fielding, bad managing. I lost a ton of respect for Scioscia in this series. Why wouldn't you bring in Weaver earlier? Of course, he brings him in when the game is out of hand.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) Well, who would have went for it with 1 second left? I think I might have... Also, my god. I now declare Urlacher ready to play, even if he can't use a hand and get Tinoisamoa out there on crutches. They'll STILL do better than what we got going at the moment. I would have
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Simply put, Joe Girardi is a bad manager. Anybody who followed the 2006 Florida Marlins to even a modest degree knows that him winning the 2006 NL Manager of the Year is one of the biggest jokes in the history of baseball awards (he absolutely destroyed several arms on that pitching staff, killing the Marlins decent playoff chances). I still think the Yankees are a strong favorite to win the World Series simply becuase any idiot could manage a team that good to glory, but he's not good as his job and it bit them in the rear end tonight. Couldn't agree more. Here's another move where I think he screwed up-I would have just let Rivera hit and buy another inning. They had nobody on and two outs, they probably weren't going to score anyway. Just take the automatic out and have Rivera throw another inning.
  6. Sounds like tomorrow's game has a good chance of getting rained out, so they might not be able to start CC in game 4.
  7. Saw I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell last night, and it was hilarious.
  8. I didn't think Francona should have left Beckett in there as long as he did last night. No way he should have faced Aybar with the bullpen that Boston has.
  9. Speaking of the call, I'm not saying there's some sort of conspiracy or anything, but how come calls of that magnitude never go against the Yankees? It just seems like there's never any calls that go against them in games like this. Jeffrey Maier, Chuck Knoblach's phantom tag against Boston in 1999, calls like that always go in NYY's favor.
  10. That call was terrible, but the Twins have nobody to blame but themselves. Too many runners left on base, bases loaded nobody out and they still can't score. In reality they have no business being in the playoffs, but we get teams like that with the wild card.
  11. I'll be rooting for the Sox to lose this weekend. I can't stand the Yankees, and I think the Tigers have at least some shot of beating them, especially if Verlander and Jackson can start games 1-2.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Man I am the village idiot today, had a shot to go to NIU vs. Purdue for very little money and decided not to because I've had a long week and didn't want to wake up at 6 in the morning and drive all the way down. What a win for us though, I was a little worried about this one with how Purdue looked their first two games, but we'll take the 335 thousand dollars Purdue gave us to beat them on their field and be happy with the biggest win the program has had in probably 4 years. Man, that fake punt took some balls. Huge win though, this team has a chance to be pretty good if the running game can keep it up. I would like to see Harnish play better though.
  13. There needs to be an "all of the above" option in the poll.
  14. Richard has a nice shot of being a solid #4. Russell is garbage, and Poreda will end up in the bullpen. I still like the trade from our side.
  15. We also want to give Tyler Flowers some more ABs
  16. Can't wait to see Flowers DH. I assume that has to be part of the reason Thome was traded, to get Flowers some ABs.
  17. Wow, this is surprising. Figured he would be headed to an AL team.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) Paying that much for that long for Alex Rios is very bad value, even if we have unlimited funds. He is nowhere near the player that contract says he is, and we volunteered to pick him up. It got us our CF that we've been looking for since we traded Rowand. Danks2 won't be ready for another couple years, same with Mitchell, and me might wind up at a corner anyways. Yea, Rios is overpayed but he's still a talented player in his prime. Did you want to see Pods in CF next season?
  19. Cowley is one of the best baseball writers out there.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 12:48 AM) I suspect Sandberg will be promoted to AAA next year, and the seat will be extremely hot for “Sweet” Lou if the team pulls this s*** again. Wouldn't surprise me if Sanberg is managing on the north side next season.
  21. I've always been in favor of a worldwide draft. Another thing I would like to see is MLB make players have to be 18 to be eligible, so we don't see any more of these Bryce Harper shenanigans.
  22. The Sox are right about where I thought they would be, I expected them to win 83-85 games. s***, we won 88 games last year, how could everyone expect us to win more than that this year? We lost Vazquez (i'm not saying I didn't like the trade, but we would be a better team THIS year with Javy), gave away Swisher and decided to go with Dewayne f***ing wise in CF.
