Obviously there is blame to go around everywhere today, but Ozzie deserves a lot of it. You want to have Linebrink start the 8th? Fine, it was a 5-1 game. No way he should have been facing Soto.
-
He definately shouldn't be anywhere near the mound in close games. Why the hell was he still in there to face Soto?

QUOTE (beck72 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Hunter, at the sox price, not the price the LAA signed him for, would have been an OK deal. The good thing about signing Hunter is we wouldn't have witnessed the Nick Swisher disaster.

Bryce Harper going to community college in 2009
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) No, I wasn't. I said that could be one of the reasons. But still, the parents are being dumb in this decision. He's still a child and under their legal guardian, and they should have the say in whether he stays in high school or not - and they shouldn't let him leave early. These hispanic kids that come up at that young of an age tend to play in one of the DSL leagues (keeping them in their comfort zone) before moving up the minor league ladder, and they have likely played with players older than them in their native countries, whereas Harper is used to playing with a bunch of 16, 17 year old kids. I think there's a difference. I don't think the latin american kids should be eligible to sign until their 18 either. I have a problem with teams giving millions of dollars to kids who are barely old enough to drive. IMO there should be a worldwide draft and you should have to be 18 to be eligible. -
Bryce Harper going to community college in 2009
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in The Diamond Club
There should be a rule against this kind of stuff, you should have to be 18 to enter the draft. Obviously his parents are pushing this too. I hope he becomes the next Marinovich or Brien Taylor. -
Per Cowley twitter- "Smell that? 3 more weeks until we read the first "Blizzard of Oz" mention. Hope B.A. at the trip enjoys selling his soul to the devil." Interesting. I know there were rumors of him going there right after he quit the Sun-Times, I wonder if it will happen this time.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 01:49 AM) I'm a little surprised he didn't trade a vet last offseason. He did-Javy and Swisher

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) I'm in the minority when talking to friends, but I would put Larkin in, first ballot I would understand getting stoned I agree. I know they sort of played in different eras, but Larkin had a better career than Ozzie Smith.

Fans should be booing Ozzie for trotting him out there all the time.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) Wow, I guess I've reached 'that age'. While browsing the "2010 and Beyond" potential Hall of Fame class, I notice how I can recall seeing every single one of those players play. Yea, i'm sure it's probably been that way for the past few years, but this is the first time I've noticed how well I know the entire list. Craziness Mike Jackson has to be a shoo-in next year right?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) But..but..but...we tried to trade for Jake Peavy. The front office won't care about the booing, but they deserve so much of the blame for this below average roster. KW neglected the 2009 Sox this offseason, so let's just hope he doesn't try to add anything to salvage a sinking ship. My thoughts exactly. I would much rather be in dead last around the all-star break than be .500 and have KW trade prospects for veterans to help a team that isn't a World Series contender.

It's a damn shame that Wise is still getting this much playing time. Of course, you here Hawk saying "well, he's coming off the injury and he would have had a longer rehab assignment if not for all the injuries up here." He might have a valid point if Wise had a decent track record. This team just isn't very good, especially with CQ out.

When will Randy Wells stop pitching like Sandy Koufax and start pitching like Randy Wells?

The Cubs caught the Reds at the perfect time, with Votto, Volquez, and Encarnacion all out. And of course they missed Cueto and Harang. I still think the Reds can contend once they get heatlthy.

When should Greg Walker be fired?
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Where are all the Walker defenders at? I don't see how anyone can come to his defense at this point. -
Can't wait for Entourage in July. One show that I just started watching is Rescue Me, the new season started a month or two ago so I've been watching that and the DVD's of the earlier seasons.

How did Nate McLouth end up in Atlanta and not here?
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm glad we didn't get him. I'm still not sold on this team as a contender yet, no need to give up our future. -
Walker needs to go. Maybe it's not his fault, but we need to change something and stop this s***. Letting all these rookies dominate us is unacceptable.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) I'd love to have Glavine come on in and replace Bartolo when he gets hurt. Plus I think Glavine could again be a valuable asset in the rotation. He won't come though and I'm sure he'll be back in New york. No thanks Supposedly he was only topping out at 83 on his rehab assignment and had a 5.54 ERA last year. IMO we would be better off calling Poreda up.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) As far as the parents trying to get him eligible a year earlier, quit being selfish and let the kid finish out his time in high school. Even if he thinks he wants to go pro early, I think down the road he'd regret missing out on his senior year of high school. There will be plenty of time for baseball, and if he's as good as everyone thinks, he'll be up in the majors before you know it. Couldn't agree more. I wish MLB had a rule in place that said you had to be 18 to be eligible for the draft to make sure this stuff wouldn't happen. I also have a problem with 16 year olds in latin america being able to sign with pro teams. IMO there should be a worldwide draft and you should have to be 18 to be eligible.

Huge win for the Braves, as they have Jurrjens and Lowe going the next two nights. The Cubs bullpen is horrible, and the guy they expected to dominate (Marmol) hasn't exactly done that.
