I would be suprised if Pujols WASN'T a juicer. He was just a 13th round draft pick in 1999. Played in Low-A ball in 2000, had a good year (.314, 19, 96), but you don't go straight from Low-A to having an MVP caliber season in 2001. I also wouldn't be shocked at all if Thome was a roider. People say he's a nice guy, but they say the same about Luis Gonzalez, and he's one of the more obvious roiders. Two other guys from the era who i'm pretty sure were on the juice are Shawn Green and Jay Bell.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) BRUCE! Sucks that Dent didn't get in. It's a complete joke that Fred Dean got in last year but Dent is still waiting. But the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a complete joke anyways. It was good to see derrick Thomas get in though. -
I've always said that the only prospect list anyone should give a s*** about is BA. f*** Keith Law, MLB.com, and all this other s***. BA follows prospects more closely, talks to a lot more scouts, managers, etc. Plus it's the whole staff that makes the list not just one guy.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) I disagree. Before he supposedly started the steroids in Toronto, he only had 192 career wins and 2500 k's. He was only 40-39 the 4 years prior to that and looked finished. Then, he goes out and becomes a great pitcher again all of a sudden. His use should have been way more noticeable than even Bonds. He was also not a HOF player before he started using like bonds. Clemens was dominant during his time in Boston. Three Cy Youngs (and he should have won it in 1990) and an MVP.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) He's the ONLY steroid-related player I would vote for. I hate him for what he did in the 2000's, but he'd have been a hall of famer no doubt had he never touched the stuff, and he's the only guy I can for sure say that about. Clemens would have been a hall of famer without steroids.

I put a lot more value in Callis's rankings.

So me and a few of my friends decided to start a baseball blog. I figured I'd post it here and see what everybody thought of it. Let me know what you guys think. http://inscoringposition.blogspot.com/

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 09:06 AM) Dungy is a great man and was certainly a good coach. However, people in the national media (and lovie smith) are claiming he is one of the best coaches of all time, which I have a tough time buying into. While he was a defensive coach in TB (where he was an above average coach, but nothing else...only division champs 1 time) his defenses with the Colts were almost always subpar. He had a record under .500 in the playoffs, and quite frankly was just blessed to have arguably the best QB of all time on his team. I know he won the one superbowl, but how many times at the end of the year have the colts been a disappointment in the playoffs? I think candidly most Indy fans would tell you that this team should have won more superbowls, hell Dungy said it himself. I'm not really trying to be harsh, I guess my point is just when you have a truly great player like Peyton Manning, (not to mention HOF WR in Harrison, and one potentially in Wayne, and a potential HOF RB in Edge) alot of coaches will win a ton of games. I've always thought Dungy was one of the most overrated coaches in football. Hey, is it a coincidence that the Bucs won the super bowl the year after Dungy left? I don't think so. -
It's a shame that Raines percentage went down.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) MVP to the QB of a .500 team? Nah. There were a lot of contenders this year, but no front runners. Could of gone to about 5 or 6 different guys. It wasn't Rivers fault the Chargers had a terrible defense. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 1, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) You can say the same for the Big 10. Oh wait, youre a Big 10 fan so you have to spin it to make it look better. The ACC sucks, the Big East sucks and the Big 10 sucks. LOL, the Big 10 is better than the ACC. Before tonight, the ACC hadn't won a BCS game since FSU won the 1999 title game. Since the BCS was created, the ACC has never sent more than one team to a BCS game. The BIG 10 has done it seven times. As for USC, it's always amazing how talented that team is. It's equally amazing how much they play down to their competition and lose to teams like Stanford and UCLA. -

It's a horrible idea to have this on New Year's Day. Of course there's no other big sporting events on New Year's! -
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 08:07 AM) Bradshaw's stats look bad by today's numbers, but they were good back in the day. For example 1977 he had seemingly a horrible passer rating of 71. But that was good for 7th best in the entire NFL. But he only finished higher than sixth in passer rating twice in his entire career. He wasn't bad, but the fact that people lump him in with the all time greats is a complete joke.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) Don't hold your breath! I'm pretty certain the McCaskeys and Angelo have determined that the QB position just isn't very valuable. History certainly shows that to be the case... Winning SuperBowl QB's: 1) Terry Bradshaw (4) 2) Joe Montana (4) 3) Troy Aikman (3) 4) Tom Brady (3) 5) Bart Starr (2) 6) Bob Griese (2) 7) Roger Staubach (2) 8) Jim Plunkett (2) 9) John Elway (2) 10) Joe Namath (1) 11) Len Dawson (1) 12) Johnny Unitas (1) 13) Ken Stabler (1) 14) Joe Theisman (1) 15) Jim McMahon (1) 16) Phil Simms (1) 17) Doug Williams (1) 18) Jeff Hostetler (1) 19) Mark Rypien (1) 20) Steve Young (1) 21) Brett Favre (1) 22) Kurt Warner (1) 23) Trent Dilfer (1) 24) Brad Johnson (1) 25) Ben Roethlisberger (1) 26) Peyton Manning (1) 27) Eli Manning (1) Take away the flukey Johnsons and Dilfers on this list, and basically you need a franchise, if not hall of fame, caliber QB to win. Terry Bradshaw wasn't very good

Great, great win. Hey, who would have thought we would be playing meaningful football in week 17 at the beginning of the season? As for the QB talk, Orton has been terrible lately, but he's not the only problem. The bears have the worst receiving corps in the NFL and a terrible O-line. I would love for Jeremy Maclin to be available when we draft. I still wouldn't mind adding a QB in the first few rounds of the draft (Nate Davis is a guy I like). -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) By the way, I was very glad San Diego won and Denver lost today. After the epic screw job the Chargers got earlier this year, it's only right and justifiedthat they get a shot at the Broncos at home in which a win would give them a divsion title. Although wow, football in the western US has been trash this year. If Arizona loses and San Diego wins next week, both western division champions will have an 8-8 record. After last season, Goodell proposed a rule that wouldn't give divison winners a guaranteed home game, and I really wish it would have passed. It's a joke that the Colts could be 12-4 and have to go on the road and face an 8-8 team. Plus, it would make late season games more meaningful with less teams tanking games in week 17. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) Correct, and that is how it will stand since there is only 1 week left. A shocking amount of things went in the Bears favor today, so they went from having no chance to having only a small chance. The Bears still need a very unlikely upset to happen here. Even if we assume Dallas will lose at Philly (which I think they will, the Cowboys are heartless dogs, especially in December), the Bears need either the Giants to win at Minnesota in a game that will have literally zero meaning for them, or will need the horrific Oakland Raiders to win in Tampa in a stadium the Bucs, despite their recent struggles, are 6-1 at this year. I HOPE the Bears get in, but I still doubt it. I'm still not sure they are even capable of taking care of their own business and winning 4 in a row. I hope it happens though. Yea, the real question is whether the Giants will rest their players. Coughlin didn't do it last year, and I really think that played a part in them winning the Super Bowl, it gave them a ton of momentum. -
