Four teams have made the playoffs after being outscored in the regular season, and one won the world series. Who were they?
-
Milwaukee won again 4-1 over Atlanta. They are actually playing pretty good ball right now and are the only team that has played the Cubs well at Wrigley. It would be nice if they could really get in the race, it's just a shame that Gallardo is hurt.

The Shrine? Why don't they treat it that way?

Here's another thing- Why would anyone want to wast a $6 beer by throwing it on to the field? -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) In this case I'm sure driving to a different spot in the city 8 miles to the north was just murderous. I'm not saying it is, but road records are down in all of MLB. Not to mention the Cubs are the best home team in the league.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) Which is something a lot of people aren't realizing. The Cubs are a very good team at home and are very hard to beat there. It's not like the White Sox are complete s*** just because they can't beat the Cubs there, not many teams can or have. Another thing that people don't realize is that road records around the league are bad. I think Morgan said that only five teams have winning records on the road, and a week ago there were only three. The fact that MLB now tests for amphetamines is probably part of the reason.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) I think this may be the start of that collapse all the doubters were talking about. Please. We didn't do any worse than any team that has gone to Wrigley this season. I'm just as pissed off as the rest of you, but to say that this is the start of a collapse is a bit of a stretch.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) basically the first break of the series, way too late though. 21 bases down. They will pry score 4 or 5 runs just to get our hope up.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Anderson and Crede for Kemp. No way in hell they would do that when they have guys like DeWitt and LaRoche

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) He's like Lance Broadway, right? No, he's like Kyle McCullloch

So what dumbass GM is going to pay Dempster 15 million per this offseason, only to see him go back to being a league average pitcher?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Be careful, I got yelled at for saying I hoped Soriano's hand was broke so he'd miss our series. We definately need to brush him back
-
Guillen deserves a ton of blame for this loss. No way in hell Jose should have been out there to give up nine runs. As Flash mentioned, we've seen this with Guillen before. IMO it's his biggest weakness as a manager.

How about that AJ check swing call? I didn't see a replay but it didn't look close. And BA shouldn't get a free pass for failing to get to third.

I really don't have too much of a problem with Ozzie taking Danks out. His spot was up, and lets face it the Sox need to be careful with him (yes I know he only threw 85 pitches). He only threw 140 innings last year so they need to keep him around 170 this year. taking him out early here and there will help down the road.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Dear WhiteSoxfan1986, Thome is slugging and hitting better against LHP's this year, so get it right. Thanks Still would much rather see him hit against a righty. Edit: Especially against a guy with a good slider like Eyre.
-
Looks like Piniella is gonna use Marmol for 2 innings tonight. Good news for us.
-
Dear Ozzie, please pinch hit Jim Thome in the right spots this weekend. So when Scott Eyre is warming up or in the game, don't have Thome pinch hit so we can see an automatic strikeout. Thanks

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) Complete makeover. I remember when Riggleman was the manager of the Cubbies. If I'm not mistaken, a former Cubs manager had never got another job until Baker got the Reds job, now there are two with Riggleman.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) I might be in the minority, but if we could sign Crede, I would deal Fields in a heartbeat for a big named player. I don't hink the Sox need another all or nothing guy in the line up. And Crede and his .260 career average and .309 obp isn't an all or nothing guy?

Very, very nice to see the offense come back after being down 7-0. Lets take out the Cubs who are about to get swept by Tampa Bay.

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) He has made some terrible decisions though. Overpaying for Beltre and Sexson. Trading Rafael Soriano for Horatio Ramirez. Signing Wilkerson for $3M and then cutting him. He's just done nothing to fix that offense really. My guess is, they blow it up and build around Bedard, Felix and Ichiro. A few more- signing Carlos Silva for four yrs at about 10 million per when a guy like Kyle Lohse, who he is very similar to, got a 1 year deal. trading Asdrubal Cabrera (yea I know he's been awful this year) for Eduardo Perez trading Shin-Soo Choo for Ben Broussard

I watched There Will Be Blood tonight, and it might have been the biggest waste of three hours in my life.

QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) well we will see very soon what type of team the sox play this week if konerko goes on the DL. Ozzie is not optimistic. We will see who they call up. if its owens, then he will lead off. But with the NL teams (parks) coming up your two biggest HR threats will be out of the lineup. They better get speed if they cannot swing for the fences. It better be Fields who gets called up
-
Embarassing. Flat out embarassing. The sox should have been able to take 5 of 6 from the Rockies/Pirates. And I think it's time to try Ramirez in the leadoff spot.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) You find places to get him into the lineup against LHP. Tonight, you could have easily had him DH and give Quentin a day off. He was one of the top hitters in baseball last season against LHP, and now that we're struggling against LHP, you need to get him into the lineup. Why exactly is Ozuna on the roster? We just faced 3 straight lefties, and he didn't sniff the starting lineup. We have Uribe to be a backup at all three of the infield positions. No reason to have Ozuna and Uribe on the roster, that's for sure. Fields could DH against lefties for Thome, and play third once in awhile to give Crede a day off.
