  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) The fact that Jim Rice and his Ellis Burks-esque numbers will probably get in next year makes me sad, he shouldn't be allowed into Cooperstown without a ticket. And Tim Raines BETTER get in, it's sad his vote total was so low this year. Rice won't get in next year. The only reason his vote total was so high was that there was not clear cut hall of famer. Next year that won't be the case.
  2. I would gladly do Kendrick/Santana for Konerko.
  3. When RR got hired I pretty much expected Mallett to transfer, then you add in the fact that there is a good chance Pryor will be going to Michigan.
  4. man this list is gonna be ugly. Rogers said Gio would have been #1, DLS #2, and Sweeney #6. He hinted that Alexei Ramirez would be the new #1.
  5. One good point he made was that you only make a trade like this if-you have a realistic shot at contending (we don't) or if you have a deep farm system (we don't). I don't get the slurping of Schaeffer and Sweeney though. It sucks to lose DLS and especially Gio, but Sweeney is looking more and more like the next shaun burroughs.
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) Improve the BCS format I suppose. None of these games have been close and I dont expect these next two games KU vs Tech or LSU vs Ohio St to be close either. Eventually somethings gotta give where they come up with a playoff format but people have been asking for that for years now and it still hasnt happened. They should have never added the fifth BCS game. If it was still the old system both Hawaii and Illinois would have been left out. The bowls would have looked more like this. Sugar-LSU vs. Ohio St. Rose-USC vs. Georgia Fiesta-W. Virginia vs. OU Orange-KU vs. Va. Tech So the only bowl that would change would be the rose, but I still like the old system better. IMO adding a game just waters down the BCS.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) I needed a good laugh; much appreciated. care to explain? It was bulls*** what he did. I could care less if he rests his players, but try to win the f***in game and don't bend over like a little b****.
  8. Tony Dungy was classless when he had a chance to call a timeout and get his team the ball back so they could try to win the game and get the Browns in the playoffs, but he didn't. It probably wouldn't have mattered, but I lost a lot of respect for him after that.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 30, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) If I was a Browns fan, I would be kind of peeved. Indy had one more time out and didn't use it. May not have mattered, but still. Not saying put Manning and Wayne back in, but use your timeout and play the game out at least. Yea, I would be pretty pissed if I were a browns fan. And Jim Sorgi is awful, I don't care if he was with the second stringers. Good thing for the Colts Manning hasn't missed a game.
  10. I blame Paxson a hell of a lot more than Skiles.
  11. Well written article, I just want to know why you think Jose Canseco should be in the hall.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Yes I'm sure um fans were wondering who tress was when we hired him, but at the same time were sad to see cooper go. If drod turns out to be one of the greats, ill admit I didn't see it. Some of the reasons that I'm happier they hired him: his 8-11 record against ranked teams. I've seen his team blow more big games than win them. Also he won't be able to sneak in juco transfers and questionable players into um and its lofty standards academically. He also has shown a lack of defense on his teams. Um has always been offensively explosive, and that shouldn't change much, but their defense may suffer. I also love that he's bringing in the spread option, because as a lot of people who aren't osu or um fans don't realize, usually the third weekend in nov is the only week that matters, I'm encouraged that their qb may be a little beat up by then. Also the team will need a few years to adjust to his style of play, with osu rebuilding this year, and illinois improving, he could be in for some growing pains, and as he's shown by considering other programs before, and by leaving his alma mater, he could have one foot out the door by then. Fianlly his complete ignorance of michigan tradition and the best rivalry in sports. As an osu fan, I've seen the perils of bringing an outsider in and their lack of success against the team from up north, rr has never been a part of anything the magnitude of osu v michigan. Those are some of my reasons, and he still could be the second coming of bo, but on the surface I don't see it. I apologize for my puntuation as well for I am typing from the road on my blackberry. Also nowhere is it written except on mich boards that pryor is expected to go to mich, in fact he had a pretty negative comment about rr on scout and his job hopping tendencies. He will also be able to recruit much better at UM, but let's not mention that.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) Dont think its a bad hire at all. But he was not the coach I was most worried about. And he was clearly not the first choice of UM either. Just out of curiosity who were you most worried about?
  14. This is awesome. I would have wanted RR from the beginning, but I didn't think he'd come to UM saying that he turned down Bama last year. Granted UM>>Bama but still.
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) I'll still take Javier Vazquez. And it least Young helped keep the Cubs from advancing in the playoffs. Yea, I said it. But this is Great news, how does Sabean still have a job again?
  16. The two guys who I really don't want to see on it are Thome and Thomas.
  17. Well the SEC just got a tougher. I wish Michigan would have been after Petrino.
  18. If the Cubs are going to get Roberts for gallagher/petrick/murton, I don't see why we couldn't land him for Sweeney/egbert/day.
  19. The 40 episode box set of America's game from NFL films.
  20. Who the hell decides who plays Sunday night? I know CBS and FOX each get to protect one game each but why the hell couldn't we get Chargers-Titans? And I can't believe there isn't a better game than Giants-Skins next week.
  21. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) Hahahahah.....you're pretty dumb. f*** favre
  22. I completely forgot we didn't have a spot on the 40-man. Would have been nice to land Barton though.
  23. I would have loved for the Sox to make this deal.
  24. I would hope the Sox would take Barton with all that's happend with our CF situation (if he would happen to fall to us obviously). Another interesting name to come up is Jeff Allison, the marlins farmhand who had all the off the field problems.
