  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) 2005. From a BASEBALL fan's standpoint, not a Sox fans.
  2. What's everyone's favorite World Series? For ones that I have personally seen (95-present), i'll go with 2001. But IMO the best one ever was 1991.
  3. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) i feel bad for them, but I so want to see a MLB team in Las Vegas. (then again, I hear that the 51's don't draw very well) Moving a team to Vegas would be a huge mistake.
  4. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) Part of that history was in Philadelphia and Kansas City...sooooo, moving is part of the history. But they have had a lot of history in Oakland (4 WS titles). They sucked in KC.
  5. I really hope they end up moving to Fremont. It would suck to see a team with so much history move out of Oakland
  6. Red Sox, I want to see the AL win. It will be tough rooting for the Red Sox though.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) Just out of curiosity, which calls did you think were questionable? I swear there has never been an Illinois thread without people complaining about officiating.
  8. Wow, great win. Awesome drive at the end of the game. Why don't the Bears blitz? They did a fair share of blitzing against San Diego.
  9. Why were Cincinnati and Atlanta in the west while St. louis and the Cubs were in the east?
  10. I found WSI before I found out about this place, and I posted there for awhile. I ended up getting banned three times, once because I called A-Rod Gay-Rod, just making a joke. I still go over there and read the parking lot, what's the score, and talking baseball, and I'll post once in awhile (my name isn't WhiteSoxfan1986 over there, that's somebody else). I never go into the Sox Clubhouse though.
  11. That's awesome I still wish I would have got to see one game at the old park.
  12. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) The strike of 1987 was the greatest thing that ever happened for the Washington Redskins. Had no strike happened, the Bears win the Super Bowl. We could create a huge thread about how bad the 80's Bears underacheived.
  13. QUOTE(Wanne @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) I'd be SHOCKED if Melvin gave him the green light. I really don't think he did......but if he didn't...he did a damn good job of keeping his poker face on...and will probably talk to Drew later....OFF CAMERA. It's possible that he didn't, but you have to assume he did.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 12:47 AM) Thank you, thank you, no applause is needed. Lol, I actually had every prediction right so far looking at the thread in every series but if there is one prediction I seriously hope I'm wrong of, it's the World Series prediction. I pray that Colorado gets it. It'll be nice to see Helton get a ring even though I'm a Kenny Lofton fan as well. But I love the Rockies and the city. Some players who you love to root for are more on the Colorado side. I'll be rooting for the AL. It's embarrassing that the Cards won last year, and I don't want the AL to let another sub-90 win team win it all again.
  15. LOL at Melvin letting Drew swing away. It looked like they had Corpas on the ropes for a second. Melvin was badly outmanaged in this series. If Ozzie pulled some of this crap two years ago, I don't know what I would have done. I still think the winner of the AL wins it all.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Bob Melvin has had a horrible, horrible series. He's left some mediocre pitchers out there to die, when they have a very good bullpen (especially Cruz, who can get you the K). Oh well, at least we'll always have the NLDS. Couldn't agree more. After Matsui hit that single I thought Owings was done. What do you know Holliday puts the game out of reach. The decision to leave Valverde in at the end of game 2 was awful as well. Not to mention the DBacks didn't bunt, hit and run, etc.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) Alot of teams were better than that team. They alone are in the top 5 (maybe top 3, maybe even numero uno) as the worst team to ever win the W.S. I still think if the 90 win 06 sox would have gotten in, we could have seriously made noise. IMO it's between the 06 cards and 87 Twins. Part of the reason the Twins won is because back then even the LCS switched home field between the divisions, it didn't go to the best records. The Twins got lucky in that they had home field in both the LCS and WS. At least the Twins beat a really good Tigers team. The Cards team they beat was nothing special since two of their best hitters (including their best hitter, Jack Clark) were injured for the series. The Cardinals were able to take advantage of a really weak NL. Yes, the Mets won 99 games, but two of their best pitchers were hurt for the playoffs. IMO if El Duque and Pedro are healthy the Mets win that series. They did beat a pretty good Tigers team in the WS. IMO it's a toss up between those two, and you can't go wrong with either one.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) This Rockies team is very, very, very very good. They're not just 'hot' like, say, the Cardinals were hot. They're good. They're for real. They're good, but part of that is the competition they are up against. They wouldn't look near this good in the AL (well they wouldn't have even made the playoffs in the AL). They are a lot better than the 2006 Cards.
  19. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) it's all about getting hot at the right time. Which is just one reason why I'm not the biggest fan of the wild card. I've been impressed with the Rockies, but I still think whoever comes out of the AL wins the world series. The Diamondbacks just aren't a very good team. I still think they should start Owings tomorrow, one reason being he is their best hitter (no green, im serious).
  20. Whats funny is that the Redskins won the super bowl in both strike years (82 and 87).
  21. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) they're definitely playing below-average this year. How many tackles did Urlacher have?
  22. Well Adrian Peterson sure as hell made the bears his b**** today. The Bears D was awful, tons of missed tackles, no sacks, no turnovers.
