  1. Wow, I thought the Saints would disapoint, but it's suprising to see them start out 0-3. And I wish people would stop acting like Vince Young is John Elway, he's not that good.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Jesus, the Braves have 7 of the top 11 on that list. The Twins have quite a few on the list as well.
  3. Cedric Benson had 16 carries tonight, and he was down on that fumble. Rex sucks but the jury is still out on Benson.
  4. The trade will seem much better if Chris Young hits a couple of walkoff homers against the Cubs in the playoffs. Edit-Not much better, but it would help ease the pain.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) Straw Poll: Do the Bears make the postseason?? I say no. They will still be in the playoffs due to the fact they are in the NFC. How huge is next weeks game now? I would hate to be 1-3 going into the GB game.
  6. Well, I have finally come to accept that the race is over. Let's just hope the Cubs are the 05 Padres, 84 Royals and not the 06 Cards, 87 Twins.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) Way to leave Vargas in, you stupid piece of f***ing crap. He's probably the worst pitcher on the roster, yet he left him in to die. Someone really needs to punch Yost in the face. What an awful move. Where the f*** is Linebrink??????????? And it doesn't help that Texeira was out at first.
  8. The title of theis thread should just be changed to the official Ned Yost sucks thread. Hell, I might just make that thread myself.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) The last thing we need is another guy to clog up the bases. That being said, we could really use a guy with a .500 obp. That being said I wouldn't want him, we'll have fields in left and crede at third anyway. But it's not like the sox have never had roiders (I'm sure there is at least one on the team now).
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) So, who are the likely 3-man rotations for possible playoff teams? Cubs: Zambrano, Lilly, Hill Mets: Maine, Glavine, Perez DBacks: Webb, Davis, Hernandez Padres: Peavy, Young, Maddux Phillies: Hamels, Kendrick, Moyer I think if you're the Mets you have to go with Pedro. I also think more teams will use a four man rotation.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Where the f*** was that 1-2 pitch to Pence? I can't believe they didn't walk Pence, as he has too much speed to hit into a double play anyways. It's hard to tell how many games a manager has cost a team, but his inability to adjust to his players is as bad this year as Ozzie's was last year. His decision to put Counsell at 3rd in the 7th inning cost them the game. I have no idea why they pitched to Pence. And where was Cordero? The guy has pitched 5 f***ing innings in september.
  12. Fathom, how many games do you think Yost has cost the Brewers this year? Assuming they had an average manager in his place.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) Some scary hitters for the Astros coming up in this situation. The Astros have little left in the pen, so I actually think Yost should use Cordero. Nope, Matt Wise. Looks like Yost comes from the Ozzie Guillen school of managing and won't bring in his closer during a tie game. Granted Cordero sucks on the road, but i'd rather have him in there right now.
  14. Did anybody else hear Kasper and Brenly b****ing about how the Brewers were gonna miss Oswalt and Williams (and his 5.04 ERA)?
  15. I'm really hoping the Tigers can somehow win the wild card. It's too bad the yankees have a real easy schedule coming up, although Baltimore has played them pretty well this year.
  16. When ever a cub fan says Andre Dawson should be in the hall (which I disagree with) they always bring up the fact that he won the MVP for a last place team. Well, looking back at the stats i'm not sure he deserved to win. Andre Dawson-.287/.328/.568 49 HR 137 RBI 11 SB .986 FP 1.86 RFg Dale Murphy-.295/.417/.580 44 HR 105 RBI 16 SB .977 FP 2.13 RFg Eric Davis-.293/.399/.593 37 HR 100 RBI 50 SB (only 5 cs) .990 FP 3.05 RFg Tim Raines-.330/.429/.526 18 HR 68 RBI 50 SB (only 5 cs) .987 FP 2.20 RFg It's important to note that Dawson's "clutch stats" were better than both Davis and Murphy's (Murphy's were downright awful). Raines did well in the clutch. I would probably vote for Eric Davis. His OBP was much better than Dawson's, plus his Stolen bases and success rate and the fact that his RFg is through the roof. http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/awards_1987.shtml Here are the voting results. There are other guys like Schmidt who deserve serious consideration as well.
  17. Man I wish the Bears would have went after David Carr. Grossman sucks, but Griese is probably just as bad.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 01:05 AM) Thats what I dont get. Willingham got 3 years, whose class it was, was totally irrelevant. You have an offensive "genius" who cant run the ball or score an offensive touchdown. There are plenty of programs that go through turnover, I wonder why the dont struggle quite as bad? I agree that Weis should be taking a lot more heat, but he has done better than Willingham. Weis already has 2 BCS bowls on his resume while Willingham didn't have any, and Weis's recruiting has been much better. But if you think that one's skin color has nothing to do with it, you're kidding yourself.
  19. I have no idea why Joe Torre continues to hit Damon leadoff when he's got two much better options in Jeter and Abreu. The Red Sox did their job this weekend by winning one game, which should pretty much seal the division, hopefully the Tigers can get hot and somehow get the wild card, their up 4-0 on Santana so far.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) I've been told numerous times that I look like Mark Buehrle. I don't see it but who knows. I've heard the same thing too. People have even said that to me at Sox games.
  21. At least we don't have Joe Girardi or Ned Yost.
  22. The problem is that minor league pitchers are just babied too much nowadays. Danks only threw 140 innings last year, and we expected him to throw 180. These guys are on too strict of pitch counts. I can see not having a guy throw 200 innings in the minors, but a lot of times teams won't even let the guy throw 90 pitches, it's a joke.
