Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
How can you guys talk about these types of trades without mentioning Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano? Another one that comes to mind is David Cone for Jeff Kent (and someone else who never panned out) in August of 1992. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) I still think Thome should be one of the main guys we're looking to trade. We're likely not going to be a contender during the rest of his contract, and we could get some very valuable players for him. I would take offers for Jenks as well. I would take offers for pretty much everybody, but Jenks would be at the top of the list. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Why do I like Farmio? Mabe because of his calls in the World Series, I dunno. His call on Konerko's grand slam was the best of the playoffs, it still gives me chills.

I wish we would have went outside the organization for this hire, but JR deserves a lot of blame for our dogs*** system too. In the end it's up to him on how much money we spend on the draft/international market.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) If he was dealing with real talent on this team then I would say you were right. However, when you have bench players and rookies all over the place it is hard to blame the hitting coach. Get some players in here that actually play the game the way it supposed to be played and get the same results - then I will be on your side. Until then I will blame the players. Well, every player is hitting below his career numbers. Walker needed to go two months ago. The hitting has been s*** for almost an entire calender year.

Sweeney should be up for the rest of the year. -
This season is mostly on KW, but it would be foolish to extend Ozzie. I don't think he should be fired, but I would just let him go into next season without a contract.

By far the lowest point of the season. The same dogs*** hitting, not to mention some bad managing.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) I would do that deal, but then what do you do with AJ? DO you try and trade him? I would love to have Thormon in left, Saltamachia behind the plate, and Fields at 3B. That would give the Sox a good young core. They still need to look for that speed though. Maybe that could be found in an Ichiro signing. On a separate note - I would much rather have KG than Bryant. Trade AJ. The guys seems to get a free pass from Sox fans somehow. -

This shouldn't really suprise anybody, but I thought he would at least last a few games. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) I think it's more likely we'll give him a contract extension soon. The sad thing is you're probably right.

At least there is some good news today.
-
How many games has Ozzie been kicked out of this year? One? He really needed to get tossed today.

Can we please send Masset down?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Masset looks pretty good when he gets extended time, and not as a short reliever. Steve Stone was on the other day, saying how Massets future is as a starter and he should be a pretty good one. I have my doubts on him as a starter. He has a career 4.53 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in the minors, pretty much exclusively as a starter. One good start at Wrigley with the wind blowing in isn't gonna change my opinion. I would like to see him sent down so he can get consistent work out of the pen.

-
Floyd or Egbert. I don't want to see Massett start for this team, I would like to see him go to Charlotte to get more work out of the pen.
-
Wow, didn't see that coming. I would love to get him off waivers.

When will this team win 10 games in a row?

The only way the Sox can turn it around is if they trade for Jack Parkman. -

Who was your favorite pitcher to watch growing up? -
Well, I can't say I expected us to win knowing our bullpen had to go five innings. Horrible move having Thornton pitch the 9th. Gammons said on BBTN he expects Buehrle and Dye to get traded pretty soon.

Horrible managing. No way in hell Thornton should have been in there, in his 2nd inning of work no less. Gammons said on BBTN that he expects Buehrle and Dye to be traded pretty soon. -
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Anderson's performance has, I think, proven Ozzie right. It's not like Anderson was hitting before his shoulder injury. And if it's significant, why is he playing? There's not point to that --it reduces his trade value and even if the Sox wanted to keep him risking further injury for AAA ball seems dumb. He actually got off to a pretty good start in AAA. I would actually like to see his stats before/after the injury.

QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 11:19 PM) I don't recall Jose ever throwing 97 last year. the hardest I saw him throw was 95. He was mostly 93-94 last season. His forkball is at 72-75 this season when it was 78-81 last season. Slider was 84-87, last year, it is now 78-82. I've seen his fastball as low as 85 this year He's not getting his stuff back. I don't believe it is mechanical, he's just an old fart. He would have been on our team last year anyway, so what he did last year is irrelavent. The fact that he's going to be on our team for the next two years, with Jamie Moyer stuff, making over $10 million is what is bad. He'll be DFA before the end of next year. There's no way we'll find a taker for him unless he magically gets his fastball back to the 93-94 that you were talking about, and the rest of his stuff goes back to where it was last year too. Keep in mind the comcast gun if off sometimes, it was WAY off today. I always remember Jose at 91-93 anyways.
