QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Wow, 2 nasty hooks and he gets a very good hitter in Uggla on 3 pitches. He has looked better lately. I still would like to see him go to Charlotte so he can get some consistency. -
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) Among the possibilities: Former Marlins manager Joe Girardi, former Orioles manager Davey Johnson and former White Sox manager Jerry Manuel. Johnson would be a good hire, the other two are complete garbage.

Why the hell did Ozzie have Mack hit for Terrero?
-
Good to see the offense actually do something, great game by Mark. I still don't know why Ozzie didn't pinch hit Thome for Mack with the bases loaded.

If I were to deal one player on this team...
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to mmmmmbeeer's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
If we could get a lot for him I wouldn't have a problem with it. His loss of velocity coupled with his weight worries me. Not to mention he has a history of injuries. -
Why is everyone so obsessed with Melky Cabrera? He was never that good of a prospect, and he won't be a centerfielder and his bat won't fit at a corner outfield spot. I think the reason the Yankees system is ranked so high is because of Hughes, and the Yanks wont give him up. Tabata gained a lot of wieght this year, and most of their good spects are at the lower levels. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) That brings us to the upper echelon prospect...Ian Kennedy. He was a stud at USC, a #1 selection in last years draft and has been absolutely dominant in the minors so far. I'm sure the Yanks would whine about it, but if the Sox deal Buehrle they have to get a high impact arm and Kennedy is that guy (he also has the ability to be a quick mover and be at the major league level sooner rather than later). Ian Kennedy=Lance Broadway, Kyle McCulloch. Ok he's a better prospect than those two but not by a whole lot, most people project him as a #4 starter. I have no idea why the Yanks gave him that huge bonus.

Mark Buehrle and the Cardinals
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to iamshack's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I would much rather deal Buehrle to a team like the Dodgers or Yankees, as they have good systems. St. Louis and Seattle's systems are just as bad as ours (ranked #23 and #24 by BA, Sox are #25). I like Clement, but a lot of people think he will end up at first, where his value takes a hit. Same with Cano, he's awful at 2nd, and his bat doesn't play near as well in the outfield. Not to mention he may be the most overrated player in baseball. I would love to have Salty, and I could see the Braves dealing him since they have McCann. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) I don't have one of my own, but there is a great story that happened to my friend. He broke up with this real clingy girl after she moved to Houston. She immediately drove all the way to my buddy's house in Austin right after the breakup. A bunch of us were hanging out at his house and out of nowhere we see her staring at us from the deck outside, it was freaky like a horror movie. My friend opens the sliding door to let her in and ask what the hell she is doing. She grabs his laptop off the kitchen table, raises it above her head and says, "do you want to do this the easy way, or the hard way?". He says, "the easy way I guess, put down my computer". After this I see her place the laptop back down where it was, grab some black object out of her pocket, and proceed to pepper-spray the f*** out of my buddy's eyes and face area in general. He fell to the ground, she pounced on him screaming obsenities, and moments later a bunch of us grab the b**** and kick her ass out of there. Unfortunately she wasn't done, she grabbed a planter and chucked it at his truck, leaving a massive dent. I had and most likely will never see a crazier event as the result of a breakup. Please tell me you called the cops.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) vazquez has been an above average league pitcher this year....not gonna say hes been great by any means...but hes given us basically everything we could have hoped for....12 games this year...has given up 5 runs in three of them, and 4 runs in 3 of them....so basically 6 of 12 were quality starts, and none of the other six were terrible outings...at least he gave the team a chance to win in them....frankly if you can hold a team to 4 or under runs in 75% of your starts, you are doing a pretty good job for a 4th starter...... that said sure id love to have chris young back....but 11 mil is about the going rate for a innings eating starter for vazquez, and he resigned him for a reasonable 3 year deal....seriuosly quit blaming starting pitching....we have the worst O in the majors and hte worst bullpen in the majors...2/3 facets of the game and the starting pitching which has "carried us" or at least prevented us from basically being the royals gets blasted...i dont get it It's scary to think what our record would be with last years starting pitching.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) just wondering: Is anybody really watching the games any more? plenty of good seats will be available in September. I'll always watch the games no matter what. Not sure on how many more I will be attending though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) I highly doubt they would have pulled Eaton in the 6th inning. Not sure about that with the way he pitched that inning. They had Zagurski warming up.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) Thome should have been brought in when Uribe had two guys on in the 6th, I believe. You have to make sure you use your best weapon in a situation where he can do damage. The only problem with that was they would have went to Zagurski, and we know how Thome does against lefties. I had no problem with saving him.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) No sutcliffe was talking about Vazquez doing something with his head/balance point in relation to his record. I believe his thesis was that Vazquez' numbers were good, but he didn't win a lot of games because of his head/balance point issue. Sut made no mention of run support, because the only stat that matters is W, and clearly Vazquez isn't good at getting his offense to score more runs. He was talking about how when JV throws to the first base side of home plate he kind of tips his head that way, and when he throws to the other side of the plate he doesn't.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) I didn't watch the whole game, but I didn't see Vaz get "lit up" any time during this game.... Im talking about in the past, mainly last season. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) 5 hits, no runs against a team that gave up 17 runs yesterday including 11 runs by the pen. Against Kansas City no less.

Dye trade rumors heating up
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to RME JICO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Dyes value is not just for the Sox he is in a contract year. His free agency salary is commensurate with how he performs now. I don't know how it will play out but Erstadt and Pods will be back and this Terraro looks like he can play.. If they continue to play I think dye can be replaced. Providing Pod and Erstadt return in fine form........ Pods and Erstad suck ass. -
Rick Sutcliffe was talking about Vazquez tipping his pitches tonight, and he's right. Could be a big reason why he always gets lit up the 3rd time through.
-
Any other organization would have gotten rid of Walker a long time ago.

Dye trade rumors heating up
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to RME JICO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Like I said a lil' while ago...the Dodgers appear to have soured quite a bit on Chad compared to the time that list came out. He just hasn't developed as rapidly in terms of throwing strikes as they hoped. Last year he averaged about a walk every 2 innings or less it looks like...which had him coming out in the 5th inning of most games. If we get him, we're getting him on the "Coop will fix him" grounds, even though he's not in the territory of Floyd, he's no longer a #7 in all of baseball prospect kind of guy. That's true, but that being said the guy still has a lot of talent and a chance to be a top of the rotation starter. -
Dye trade rumors heating up

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) If we can get Billingsley and Brox for Dye, I'll drive Jermaine to the airport. No chance in hell that would happen. -
Old Busch stadium, followed by Citizens bank. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) Supposedly Citizens Bank has better food than The Cell but i'm not counting on it. I don't know if it's better than the cell, but it's really good.

Dye trade rumors heating up

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) i would love to get billingsley from LA. he was a top 5 prospect back in 05-06. if im not mistaken, he has a 3 quarters arm angle and throws about 94-95. correct me if im wrong Not to mention a great hook. I would love to have Billingsley, and the Sox would be foolish not to do this with the way Dye has played this year. Here is BA's top 10 overall prospects of 2006- 1. Delmon Young, of, Devil Rays 2. Justin Upton, ss, Diamondbacks 3. Brandon Wood, ss, Angels 4. Jeremy Hermida, of, Marlins 5. Stephen Drew, ss, Diamondbacks 6. Francisco Liriano, lhp, Twins 7. Chad Billingsley, rhp, Dodgers 8. Justin Verlander, rhp, Tigers 9. Lastings Milledge, of, Mets 10. Matt Cain, rhp, Giants -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) Andy Gonzalez isn't an outfielder though. Thats my point. We need another outfielder up here, yet we waste Gonzalez on the bench.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) Also....what is the point of having Gonzalez on the bench? He might be the most useless roster member we've ever had. We need another outfielder who can be a defensive replacement for Dye late in games. He was bad as it is, now it's worse with his injury.
