Who is the best source or who are the best sources on this site and what is their most current news on the Manny saga? Could they please give an update? I've heard and read sooo many reports that my head is spinning!

I'm wondering if a policy is written for $300M total and decrease $30M per year is there a percentage payout for injury, if it happens in any year. I can't imagine a 100% payout. And I wonder what kind of cost is paid? just wondering, if anyone has insight to this. I don't mean to get off topic, but wondering if we land Machado.

Hypothetically let's say that Machado signs a 10 year $300M contract with the Sox. Then he gets injured at the start of year three, can't play again and is still owed $240M. I would assume the team takes an insurance policy on highly paid players. Educate me, please. Can someone explain, without having to go into to great a deal of time, how those insurance policies work? Thanks. (For those like I who worry about a badly injured player with a long term contract)

I agree! if this front office loses on Manny I truly believe it will set back this franchise years in the eyes and support of the fans. Yes, if there ever was a time for the ownership to step up and get this done it is now and with Machado!

I really enjoyed reading your last paragraph! "Free agents like Machado ARE rare"!! This has probably been said or thought a thousand times in this topic alone, but I also truly believe this is a signing where the White Sox must be successful. Some will say the front office is playing it smart and they are also aware how important it is to get Machado signed and maybe they are, but I NEED to see Machado signed and the sooner the better. Come on White Sox and get it done!

Wow!! I hope you took your heart medication this morning! I was just bringing back a small sampling of my memory from the "good old days", with another "old timer". If I left out some history from the old days I'm sorry and I apologize. I'll resist, in the future, of getting involved in any of your posts!
