  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) He's a very good defensive LF. He has been a very bad defensive CF, he's played 21% of his ML innings in CF. He's not a good option to be moved around the outfield during the season which has happened throughout his career. I turned it on mid way and they may have been showing the CF action in regards to the Nats wanting him to possibly play CF, if signed. Thanks.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) What happened? He FINALLY officially signed with someone? That would lead to approximately 150 more pages of posts, lol... Listening to the guys on MLB talk about Cespedes and they were quite negative. Yea, he has a big bat but lack of defense and baggage questions. They have me wondering.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) but wouldn't you include the laroche contract as the catalyst of not wanting to waste money, until the contracts comes off the books??? Off topic but, a LaRoche question. Did he or did he not have a hand injury last year? If he did can we at least hope that he could be a serviceable platoon at DH with anyone?
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Mibelt Rodriguez ‏@MibeltRodriguez 35s36 seconds ago Developing: The #Nats have offered a 5 years, $100-105 MM deal to OF Yoenis Cespedes. #MLB that's the deal beating the Sox??
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) This year, maybe they just don't have the money in the budget. Who knows, maybe they are also cutting down on long-term expenses to eventually sell? So much more to things than just claiming they're being cheap. If they need to cut down on expenses is it close enough so they could bus it to KC, Clev. and Minn.?
  6. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) Slit my throat for me Bob NightengaleVerified account ‏@BNightengale The biggest surprise now is if #Nats don't sign Cespedes. They appear to be the only team interested in giving him longer than 3-year deal. Please, I don't want to hear "three year deal" ever mentioned again!
  7. QUOTE (Kevtrem @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) RIP our fanbase I'm OK! I'm just going to wait until 2018. Isn't that the year of a good FA group?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) In all honesty, Hahn's job should be on the line this season It should be but, we all know better.
  9. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Funny because if this were the Sox with these signs, you would be declaring him a done deal. I thought that yesterday things were looking up when raBBit posted but, now I feel like I'm floating in a no gravity zone. Don't know which way is up.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) you know, i respect you and respect you as a posters. with that. if the sox does not get cespy... for whatever reason, and settle for a second tier of'er like jackson and pickup lets say a sp or a temp ss. i would be extremely happy. they still did something to improve this team. that team will still be fun to watch.... I hate to rain on anyone's parade but, what will this board be like if the Sox don't sign Cespedes and aren't able to sign one or two of the second tier players?
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) I know which is why it was making me mad to. LOL Its like now that the Score is the Cubs network we are going to have to deal with happy joy Cub talk all day even by our resident Sox fans that are on the Score. Of course I could just not listen. I haven't listened to that garbage station for about 7 months now and don't miss it one bit! Do the same!!
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Knowing where things stand right now, I almost wish they would have just signed Kendrick, Desmond and stuck Lawrie in the outfield. Lawrie couldn't possibly be worse than Garcia out there, could he? That way, we'd have the potential for above average offensive production from every position on the field, DH would be improved with Garcia/LaRoche platooning and Saladino/Sanchez would fall into their more suitable bench roles. To hell with it...it's to the point where you keep wasting Sale/Q/Rodon seasons and you're increasing the probability each and every season that goes by that one of them goes down to injury and then you're absolutely screwed 100%. The thing is, all these draft picks are going to be arriving way too late to "save" the White Sox in 2019 or 2020 anyway. And we still retain our higher first round draft pick. I give in! Time to move on and sign a few other players to strengthen this roster for 2016. This soap opera has gone on long enough!
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 35s35 seconds ago The #Whitesox still have interest in Yoenis Cespedes, but have not changed stance: Nothing more than 3 years lmao So, if 3 years is true what $$$ do the Sox offer this guy? I can't imagine 3 years would work Would it??
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) And that man in your avatar! Picture taken on the day his number was retired. We were a few skyboxes down from Frank. My wife even got a Thomas jersey autographed. I feel like a name dropper. But, so what!
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) The White Sox owe me absolutely nothing. It was my decision many years ago to become a White Sox fan. End of story. Me too, with the proper guidance of my Father.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/01/20/yoe...l-steinbrenner/ Yankees trying to up the price for Mets, Sox and every team interested???
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 05:42 PM) i am not taking sides b/c i was not here. yeah i read the pages, but still i was not here at the moment. the thing i keep spouting is everyone has an opinion. whether you agree with it or not. no one can force anyone to change their opinion but there is something called respect and respect other people opinion even if it is different than yours. Nicely said, LDF.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Well, that's pretty good news Rabbit. Thank you. Looks like options is that hurdle to settle out, hopefully they can figure that out and get him signed within the next couple days. If the Sox and Cespedes are close I want to see the deal get closed tonight! When I was in sales I hated to leave the office with a deal sitting on the table. I know these guys can do a deal from home or anywhere but, just saying.
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) I'm still waiting for the Cardinals to get in on the action. Cards GM was just on MLB. Kind of hard to imagine taking a break from Cespedes talk to go onto TV.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Nationals official site broadcasting a major announcement tomorrow and why wait until tomorrow if Cespedes signs. I would think any team would want the news out there now.
  21. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) This guy is a camera operator for CSN CHicago. Take if FWIW.... Mitchell Winkelman ‏@MitchellWinkelm 16m16 minutes ago Illinois, USA I'm hearing the #WhiteSox are finalizing a deal with Cespedes for 4 years north of $100 million.. But I don't know what to believe anymore.. just saying, if true, 4 yrs. north of $100 mil. So, $25+ mil per year??? Really?
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) Don't forget "Rick Hahn is the greatest poker player since...." As good as the Lawrie and Frazier deals still look (on paper), it's still curious why you would make those moves if you knew you were limited on the payroll side. Hopefully it wasn't all predicated on being able to move Adam LaRoche (to free up roughly $5-6 million), because that would be a sad state of affairs indeed. All we heard last year was that none of the players we gave up and none of the contracts we signed would have that much of an impact on the overall direction of the franchise. Well, clearly, that was not the case. Thumbs up!!
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Don't forget "posturing" Yea, when I get all worked up I forget about that part of the dance.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) let down yeah i agree. but what if he is still insisting on a 6 yr contract and at 25 mil a yr.... then I'll be the first one to open and hold the door for him.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) Ugh. I feel like we waited too long. Now that Cespedes is the only one left, his demands can only go up. What happened to all those "we've got him right where we want him" posts?
