  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) You will forget this year if year two is good you're kidding us, right??
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) Hope JR, KW and Hahn are enjoying the game man this is awful. If this game doesn't keep the seats empty for the rest of the year nothing will!
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Don't flatter yourself. Not a lot of people liked the olt move. I agree an don't we already know who Mike Olt is and what he can or cannot do?
  4. QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Another inspired home stand in September under ventura..no reason whatsoever to keep this guy around. . We know this but, do they?? Really, what in the world will it take to make necessary changes? I hope at the end of the 2016 season we are not on this board wishing for a managerial change!
  5. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) I've found that guys who are "mental midgets" are generally poor at baseball fundamentals and simply don't know how to play the game. The Sox have them by the bushel full. Which explains a lot to me. Again it comes back to accountability. There is very little showing in this franchise right now. I understand you can't fine players for doing stupid things and not executing like Richards, Lopez and Stanky could do but you sure can bench guys, or send them back down to the minor leagues. Instead we get another game where guys like Ramirez, LaRoche and Melky are in the lineup instead of kids who need seasoning and to see what they can do. Mark and we won't find answers next spring training because our spring trainings are a joke.
  6. QUOTE (Coach @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 05:54 AM) Here is what I am not understanding. How can ownership justify Ventura with another year? He brings absolutely nothing to the team. I doubt he even has a pulse. He took a team who was suppose to compete for the division and made them the laughing stock of the league. Now, he can't make them hit which was one of the main reasons in the first half, but he refuses to address the stuff he can control. Like bad base running and stuff. How can he keep putting LaRoche in the line up? He is an automatic out, especially in the 4th spot. That's bad managing. I guess loyalty over ability and competence counts for a lot in this organization.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 04:23 PM) Give Saladino ABs sure; but at the two hole? And Robin should be brought back because? I guess because he is loyal.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 05:24 PM) He's the least of their problems. That means the Sox have many problems because he is a huge problem as their manager!
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Petricka and Duke are not big leaguers IMO. Somehow get rid of both. Put them both on waivers and see if they're claimed. But would Duke and 2 years left at 5 mil each be too much for even one of the leaders to take on?
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Nice to beat the Royals. The law of averages has kicked in nicely this series. Q is pretty damn impressive. ... What happened to Melky's power? Nine homers is ridiculously bad for all the $$$ he's making. This board IMO doesn't blast Melky enough. Arguably he's one of the biggest disappointments on our team. That said ... SOX ARE ROLLING OVER KC! Finally. Nice. I agree. Last year he hit 16 HR's and in our park I thought at least 20. But, that is how this season has gone.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) He has filled his row as a super IF utilityman quite nicely. Good defense. We forget too quickly what the original intent was in signing Gordo and Bonifacio. Emilio failed. yes, but that original intent would be ok if we were in a pennant race. we aren't! why not play the kids??
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) Beckham is in the lineup tonight. Just the player the Front Office should be trying to get a good look at. so many brilliant moves by Ventura. he really is an awful manager.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) do you really want to compare the sox to the northside????? that is like scrapping the stuff some will step in ..... sometimes. Huh? Really, what's your point?
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) We've been bad long before he came along. Culture change is needed with this coaching staff. Along with some f***ing good players. Coaching staff changes? Yes!! But, we know they have been too loyal to the White Sox franchise and JR won't fire them. Maybe one, maybe Steverson.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) A .676 OPS, even slightly below that, is a decent SS at this point. I really do think we get way too happy to say "Oh this guy is nothing, he's just a utility player", at least on this site. We could use some "Decent, slightly above replacement, utility players". That's better than what we've had at several spots. Let me bring up the name and player Gordon Beckham. Why is he still on this roster?
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) Man when did half the posts on this board just become complaining? When my team is this bad and it appears there is no hope it is hard not to complain!!
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 12:13 AM) there are many ways of being a fan, even if it means loosing in order to ensure a better pick in the draft. there is nothing wrong on that or for that way of thinking. i prefer for the sox to win, and if they loose, oh well. they gave it a try. but i will not look down on anyone to cheer for them loosing for a lousy season. Hey, the cubbies plan was to lose and look at the players they now have.
  18. QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:49 PM) This team regresses down the stretch year after year... A manager and coaching staff that can't win it its own division. What a horrible and utter failure of an experiment. The kids better start playing or I will completely tune out. Oh yea, and RV can be fired tomorrow!!
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Ventura threw out a s*** lineup guys. It was hilariously bad. Maybe he really wants to get fired.
  20. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Baseball stupidity here on display I tuned into the game late and the first two Sox hitters I saw come to the plate were Flowers with a .218 avg. and then Beckham with a .200 avg. Any valid reason the kids shouldn't be playing?? This is just depressing!!!
  21. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) Given how players are rushed to the big leagues today (the days when guys like Gary Peters and Joe Horlen spent five years in the minors learning their craft are long gone) maybe it would be to the Sox benefit to actually work with players every day no? ESPECIALLY if other teams aren't doing it. Makes you wonder if the coaches feel they shouldn't have to do it, what exactly do they do and what are they getting paid for. And don't overlook the impact a coaching staff can have, I refer back to this quote from Tony LaRussa when I interviewed him. He was talking about when he first came on-board and the Sox started to develop in the early 1980's: "For a long time coaches were just friends of the manager or guys getting their time in to get a pension. But jerry Reinsdorf recognized that because kids were being pushed to the major leagues earlier, the role of coaches as teachers became crucial. He embraced the idea of putting together the best coaching staff you possibly could, that the staff of a manager should be a force for developing players..." Note the last part of Tony's comment. This team has been putrid fundamentally and baseball stupid overall for the past five years or so. Some of that falls on the players, some on the manager and the coaches. This team was also totally unprepared for this year coming out of spring training. They were on a record pace in terms of poor defense and base running according to Fan Graphs. Again some of that falls on the players but in this particular case the majority of the blame goes to the manager and his coaches in my opinion. Mark Very well said, Mark!! Too bad management couldn't read some of these posts.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Obviously Trace Thompson is the new savior. I hope Rick can sign him to a team friendly extension asap, buying out arb and a coupe free agent years. Hmmm, maybe a bright spot amid this awful season and we'd like to see more of.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) 1. Trayce has strong position splits against lefties, and being a little careful with him is not a bad thing. 2. Adam LaRoche is still under contract for $13 million by the White Sox next year. Like it or not, Adam LaRoche is going to be on the Chicago White Sox in 2016 starting a lot of time at DH and 1b. 3. Adam LaRoche has had some hits lately, with a .930 OPS over his last 7 starts. 4. There is a righty on the mound. If you can get Adam LaRoche's confidence up and help him have a good last month, that at least improves your chances of getting something useful out of him for $13 million in 2016. When there is a righty starter on the mound, Adam LaRoche should be in the lineup, at least until the White Sox are ready to eat his contract. Please, don't get me started. The Sox have to attempt to get his confidence up? He's a professional earning 13 mil this year. Just do your job!
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Repeat of last night...................I am all for trading Q this winter, team has not won jack with him. Team is now going through the motions living for the 15th and 30th. I guess I'll now look to see if reruns of NCIS are on TV.
