  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) Don't forget your paper bag. I'll save a tree and use plastic on the condition that Ozzie has Rios hitting cleanup.
  2. ^^ Duh, you're missing the point. It's the Indians who are fighting for second with the Tigers.
  3. Game is on CSN. I guess I'm going to this one on account of tickets that I purchased some time back. With NFL starting today, I expect maybe 7 or 8 others are making the same decision I am.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 07:16 AM) PWSullivan Paul Sullivan Cubs owner Todd Ricketts announces $7 Old Styles will still be available at Wrigley I definitely don't have a problem with that. I'm kind of fond of Old Style, but then again, I'm probably as far from "beer snob guy" as it gets.
  5. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Somebody made a mistake in the title of this thread. I rechecked my schedule. It is Charlotte Knights @ Rochester Red Wings. Awesome.
  6. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) Does anyone else absolutely hate first person games? Most of what is popular yes, mainly for the reasons Steve mentioned. I don't do the online stuff for this genre and very rarely is there a good story to be told. The only recent exceptions to this I can recall are Half Life 2, the two Portal games, and the just released Deus Ex (best game of any genre I've played since the original Deus Ex in 2000, but it's as much of an RPG as it is FPS). Everything else is Halo this and Call of Duty that. I especially abhor those frigging military games- an incomplete deck of playing cards sounds like more fun to me.
  7. Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Stewart. I want Buehrle back, but are the Sox ready to give him more years/money? Chris Sale is set to step in from starting in AAA in my (hopefully incorrect) scenario should there be any problems, and with Peavy/Humber/Stewart in the same rotation, there are bound to be.
  8. I'll admit that perhaps it was because I was in attendance that night, but I enjoyed the no-hitter more than the perfect game. It was so fitting that the BB got picked off (and it was Sosa, to boot). I'd probably have a different opinion if it didn't get picked off. Besides, the Rays get no-hit/perfectoed like 4 times a year. Texas always hits baseballs. So I'm going with Valencia, because that would be a thing if Stewart got a perfect game against the Twins this soon after being traded here and into his career.
  9. I thought the Sunday set tied up the loose ends. I guess it should be looked at as one set over the span of two days. The pace and setlist of Saturday's show was just bizarre. Totally agree about the deep stuff- I thought that was partially at fault for the lack of energy (although Wash is one of my favorites). The covers and the parade of guest vocalists threw me off a bit too. No problems here with having Cornell do Temple of the Dog stuff though as those songs are phenomenal. We made it in time for The Strokes on Saturday and didn't get to see any openers on Sunday. Overall, it was fun. I might not have been as pleased Saturday night right after the show, but it's Tuesday now and the entire weekend is really growing on me. In the long run this is one that I think will be memorable. I hope they still do those skinny cardboard case bootlegs.
  10. Saw Pearl Jam for the first time today... Not too siiked about their setlist, Oh well, hopefully they will do better tomorrow. I told my lil bro that I would buy him PJ tix for his birthday. I'm an awful person.
  11. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 02:59 AM) So Batman: Arkham Asylum is pretty sick Haha I just picked it up for a few bucks on Amazon the other day and gave it a spin after seeing it mentioned in this thread recently. I enjoyed it for two or three days, but then Deus Ex: Human Revolution came in the mail. That's one I've been looking forward to for a while- and will probably occupy me for a month or two. Anyone else giving this one a shot? The original came out around the time I was a sophomore in HS, and is probably #2 in my holy trinity of games (behind Doom(s), ahead of Starcraft). From what I've read, this is a worthy sequel (actually, prequel).
  12. Cowley on Mac & Spiegs Show right now. Should be a listen. Spiegs told Cowley he's being used by Ozzie and his credibility is being ruined by reporting only one side of this tale/making himself part of the story. Tempers flaring.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) you're peeing on the parade - can't double-headers be swept? shhhhh, no, it is legend.
  14. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) And let us not forget, dude, that mark teahen got a 3 year 15 million dollar deal. Let us forget.
  15. Ozzie saying Rios was swinging the bat pretty good in the dugout in the postgame presser.
  16. Stewart should have been sent in to pinch hit for Rios, not pinch run for Paulie.
  17. Just recently I heard a caller on the Score call multiple times to say that Rios was letting the boos get to him. Don't want to say more because I was only half-listening, and obviously the caller could have been full of it.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) WHEN DID HE TEASE US? He teased the grass with that bloop yesterday.
  19. Maybe yesterday's strong outing will help his trade value.
