  1. Machado for Avi and/or Cease + org filler + promise we won't trade him to Yankees?
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) I still think it's crazy unless you are trading a guy like Avi and some lesser pitcher like Dunning or Cease. Then, maybe, but why would Baltimore do that? Unless it is totally a steal, I am thinking this whole thing is much to do about nothing. Manny Machado now knows the White Sox plan to be serious suitors next year. Same, and the only way I could think Avi along with guys like you mentioned would be considered a "strong offer" (as twitter claims) is if other teams aren't willing to throw as much at this trade because of the impending free agency.
  3. Wow, rude awakening, but I can't see them actually following through- unless it's for something like Avi and one or two of the lesser prospects. Names like Giolito being thrown around frighten me.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) But... why? Something to do with Ohtani?
  5. I prefer Abreu over Garcia, so it would sting more to see him go, but I went with Jose primarily because the return would likely be much better than anything you could hope to get for Avi. Age is the other factor at play for me. That said, if some team offers up a return for Avi that isn't crafted under the assumption that his 2017 was a fluke, then he's the guy. Moving either of them just for the sake of moving someone won't help the rebuild.
  6. I've posted on this before- keep him, IMO. The upside is worth more than what you'll get for him, anyway. If 2017 was a fluke, well, it was worth a shot. Not like you're getting anything significant anyway.
  7. Saw Life. Not anywhere as bad as I expected it to be.
  8. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) The guys being discussed as possible targets for Avi aren't org filler. They are guys that actually have a chance to be quality big leaguers or more. There is a difference between names being thrown around on Soxtalk and names being thrown around by Hahn/Beane. Again- if some team is willing to overpay, then by all means, oblige them. If not, is it really worth it? I haven't seen anything reported return-wise, just that Oakland has an alleged interest in Garcia.
  9. I'd rather the Sox hold on to him, unless someone is willing to generously overpay. What is there to lose? If 2017 was a fluke, no big deal- they probably wouldn't have gotten anything of significance for him anyway. The possibility that perhaps things finally did click for Avi is worth more to me than org filler.
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 01:12 AM) Why? How? https://twitter.com/ABC/status/928709231641014274?s=17 The part about him being bullied as a kid until he was old enough to bully other kids himself especially came out of left field. Never would have guessed it.
  11. On the plus side, this development insinuates that he has at least one ankle left.
  12. Only got to catch it from the 7th inning on- that was a joy to watch.
  13. I'm still getting used to Houston in the AL. Not a fan of adding even more teams, but even more opposed to realignment- especially one as radical as proposed.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) Phillies and Reds both lost. Tigers losing big. This is intense.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) Honestly? Cheering for the Red Sox, because yeah I want to see Chris in the series. I thought I'd want that when he was traded to Boston, but my Red Sox hate turned out to be too strong. I suppose I'd be less displeased with them winning now, since Hot Air Balloon Head is retired, but with the kind of person he is, he'd be all over the FOX broadcasts and it'd almost be like he was still a part of the team.
  16. Shame to see it end, but it was a pleasure to watch what I was able to catch of this streak (#22 was a good one). Hopefully, either Cleveland or Houston are the AL WS entrants. Hopefully, Not the Cubs are the NL WS entrants.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) Jerry Owens Ah, there's a name that was scrubbed from my memory until just reading it.
  18. Abreu saves the triple for last, gets the cycle.
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 05:49 AM) Not at all surprised by Holland's response. Has been a great guy since day one... This is one reason I hated seeing him get rocked so thoroughly every time he got the ball. ...but, at least he's still currently eligible for a ring as a nice parting gift.
  20. It's absolutely awesome to watch Avi hit the ball this year like he was supposed to all along. I doubted this was real for much of the season, but it's almost September. I assume any return in a trade wouldn't amount to much more than long-shots and lottery tickets. Hold on to this guy. What is there to lose? He could actually be a key part of this team/veteran presence along with Abreu (assuming he sticks around) going forward. If he regresses and you're stuck with him, oh well- worth the risk IMO.
  21. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) I think it means I I in Spanish. lol
