Who are your favourite non-Sox players?
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Leonard Washington's topic in The Diamond Club
Ryan Howard. Uribe and Thome up there as well. -
I've seen it suggested that the Postgame show should be renamed "Rongey takes calls from the stupid". Has a nice ring to it. He does a good job, and I give him props for providing an enjoyable listen. Many good men would turn to the bottle if they had to endure what he does nightly. I went to the game and had myself a s***ty time. Got off the expressway at around 6:40, finally passed 35th after a solid 10 minutes of waiting on the ramp only to confirm my fears that the lots near the park were full. I got directed toward IIT (game has started at this point), by the time we were near IIT Konerko had already gone yard. The first lot was filled, so we crawl for 20 minutes to the second lot which closed right before our eyes. I ask the attendants what to do now- we get directed to Lot C. We get there and are told it's full. Where do we go now? McCormick Place, we're told. lol wut? I was seeing red at this point. We search the residential areas for a while and are about to write this off as a loss before I remembered from my season ticket days that sometimes there are private lots that offer parking on Pershing. Found one right past the viaduct and finally got to the seats when it was 3-2, just in time for the Cubs' big inning. My favorite part of the parking ordeal was passing about 25 unoccupied spots in the White Sox lots on the way to the park from our shady makeshift lot. You're sending me to McCormick Place in the 4th inning?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Maybe initially it looked really bad? The description I heard was that he acted like he got shot.

I think like 94% of my high school girls basketball team and the coach wound up being lesbians. None of them were hot and the coach looked like that woman from glee. True story. That aside, I gained a different perspective on these things after one of my best friends came out a few years ago. At first I was just disgusted that I was such an ass towards those people before. Now I'm just kind of sad that it took a close friend coming out for me to gain that perspective.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Pierre has played in enough games this year. He can sit for lillibridge for a month or two. While I agree that it sucks to see Pierre everyday, Lilly Flower isn't an everyday player either. -
Marlins interested in Ozzie Guillen (again)
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Potential candidates include Jack McKeon... I hope this happens so everyone would shut the f*** up about Ozzie and the Marlins. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) He's been good with no one on...Maybe he should be our leadoff hitter. Or hit second. -

Peavy is More than a Stud! He does the Impossible too!
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to elrockinMT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What has his exact injury history been while with the Sox? How about since his Cy Young season? IIRC (w/Sox): 1) Foot or ankle during the year he was acquired carrying over into 2010, something that happened while running the bases in SD(?) 2) Detached LD in 2010 carrying over into 2011. 3) Groin in 2011. #'s 1 and 3 happen to the best of them in baseball, and if I read ptac's posts correctly, #2 was a matter of building up strength post-surgery and shouldn't be a lingering issue going forward. Correct me if I'm wrong. -

Nice, Beckham. If you can't beat 'em, at least rob them of some of their s*** base hits. -

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Bighurt52235's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I read it as KW saying "thanks, but no thanks". Coop pretty much dismisses it as well. -
Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Bighurt52235's topic in Pale Hose Talk
After reading the article, this is probably something as simple as a reporter asking Peavy how he thinks he could do in a bullpen role, to which any pitcher (especially someone as team-oriented as Jake) would give a similar response to. What was he gonna say if asked about it directly? No? Once they get what they want to hear, they make it seem like one day Peavy woke up and out of the blue declared that he wants to go to the bullpen. -

Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Bighurt52235's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Jake can come back and help the team from the rotation. He was pitching well, and it's not like his arm exploded this time around. Edwin has dibs on bullpen anyway. He called it. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Their GB was double digits for the same reason ours was big...one team at the top on fire. Their GB was bound to decline once Cleveland slumped. Yeah, I just hate looking in the rear-view mirror and seeing this frigging team, especially given the Sox recent history against them. They've been winning ballgames lately, 9-3 in June. In six of those they've score 6+ runs (Sox did this as well). -

This series worries me. I hate that the Twins are still around. They looked a lot better when their GB was double digits. Can't say that this wasn't expected.
