Pissed that VZ still hasn't added Windows Mobile 7. I'm still hoping they do, and stat. After switching over from Sprint due to their ass customer service in March I have nothing but good things to say about VZ. I have a phone upgrade coming up in 8 months- I was however sort of set on that upgrade being the next Samsung Omnia model running WM7. I've never been one for iPhones, and Androids. I'll let everyone else have the same phone together. I don't want to be limited to either Android or iPhone, and if those are my options, can't do it. Bummer, emphasizing again that everything else about the carrier is awesome.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Football Thread
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to knightni's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I barely ever watch college football, but from what I've seen this season it was clear that Auburn was going to win, whoever they played. The only thing I like about Auburn is Frank Thomas and Charles Barkley. The boyfriend and future fiance of a girl I know goes there. I was hoping dearly they would (improbably) get had by Oregon... -

Late to the show. Auburn wins this game. -not watching, going to sleep. -
Just saw the Mayhem GPS commercial. These commercials are all gold.

I voted start him for Peavy, then Sox bullpen. This is contingent on how long Peavy is out, and the state of the pen when he does get back. If things are fine with the relief up here at that point, start him in Charlotte.

I was in banking for 5 years until this past July. The last two banks I was employed by required you wear a suit everyday. There was a Jos. A. Bank in Danada Square which I conveniently drove by everyday that got a lot of my business. Macy's too. Now that I've left the industry I have a dozen suits in my closet that haven't seen the light of day since July. I kinda miss wearing a suit everyday. It definately got me attention from girls if I went out or met up with people right after work.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to witesoxfan's topic in The Diamond Club
I saw a headline somewhere about LAA as a possible Pujols landing spot next year. I haven't been keeping up with STL's financial situation, but last I remember a ) Pujols will get a lot of money from someone and if is from STL, it will tie them up financially. b ) Pujols wants to win, which could be tricky to pull off if that much of your money is accounted for already. No doubt, signing Crawford this offseason would have all but made LAA unrealistic for Pujols should he reach FA. From a baseball standpoint* I'd rather have a one-armed half blind Pujols than Crawford for the money Boston gave him. I was thrilled the Sox weren't actively pursuing him. Could the Angels have half-heartedly been in the Crawford race just to drive up the price for everyone else (by that I mean if you get him, fine, if someone is bent on out-bidding you, no problem)? I know it was pretty much accepted everywhere that they wanted Crawford but could this be an "in the grand scheme of things" scenario? If you lose out on him, no sweat, just throw the bank at Pujols next year, even overpay him. Surely LAA is better equipped to do that than than STL... It's a slow morning at work, I'm just throwing the idea out there. * It's a shame that MLB still doesn't have any sort of HGH testing to this point. Not sayin', just saying... -
QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Did anyone else watch Bob's Burgers? I thought the pilot was a somewhat successful mix of clever and crude humor. Will give it another shot. I caught the very end of it. Didn't make much of an impression on me. I watched The Cape. It was pretty much a summation of the first two Nolan Batman movies, which isn't altogether bad since they were both great. I guess I was able to look past that little aspect of it so I'll watch it again if I don't forget to. Haven't ever really religiously followed TV shows.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Nothing says "going for it" like sending your 1st or 2nd best reliever down to AAA. Wow, best reliever in the pen? Based on what body of work? I think even second best is a generous stretch. Again, don't get me wrong. He's probably capable of it, I'd love to see it, but lets hold off on crowning Chris Sale after one partial season of relief pitching. I'll feel a lot better if come July he's still getting people out. Sox also sign Shane Lindsay. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/01/whit...ey-lindsay.html -
re: Ohman as LOOGY: Did the Cubs use him in this role? I seem to remember him coming in for, sometimes, an extended period of time. Don't think it was just mop up or fluff innings either, though I may just be misremembering as Roger likes to say, or it could simply be a testament to recent Cub bullpens...

QUOTE (joeynach @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) My question is this. Knowing all this about Ohman, why not just bring back Erik Threets, they are virtually the same pitcher. I know its a small sample size but Threets pitched really well for the sox last year, 55.6 GB %, FIP of 2.84, and xFIP of 3.83. You can have Threets for the league minimum, you probably have to pay Ohman $2M for his services. I dont get it. IIRC Threets is hurt.

Thats what you get for listening to that awful man Lawrence Holmes. *listening to that awful man Lawrence Holmes*

Morel is far from certain. Even if he had been serviceable last year, Vizquel's re-signing was crucial and saved me from a lot of worrying about third base. Morel at this point may as well be Josh Fields, Chris Getz, or Brian Anderson. Hope he proves that he isn't those guys. Going into this year with the stubborn thought that the Sox will be just fine with Morel, Sale, some of the scary bullpen names I've been reading about, and to a lesser extent, Santos is wrong. I'll feel better about all of them if come July they haven't pissed on themselves. These guys have more question marks than the friggin Riddler. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying- they are all capable and could be just fine. Until they are just fine, however, this is what I'm worried about most for 2011.

I miss EA's MVP series. I just purchased a used '10 The Show and its hard to get used to.

If I had to arrange a last meal I would toss all the eating healthy crap out the window... 1) Bowl Cream of Chicken Wild Rice soup 2) Cheesy Gordita Crunch from Taco Bell 3) Chicken Flautas w/ beans and rice from El Presidente 4) Best's Kosher Polish w/ Grilled Onions and Mustard like they used to have at the Cell 5) Thin and Stuffed Giordano's pizzas 6) Dr. Pepper 7) Some of my Grandma's Blueberry or Cheese crumbcake 8) 1 Gallon of 2% Milk (for the crumbcake) I eat really slow. More than likely I would be full by the time I get thru #3 on the list but if its my last meal...

Which deal would you have preferred?
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if I feel that much more confident about Crain than I would Jenks. The third year on Crain's deal is what I don't like. I think I'd rather see Jenks back for two. I'd feel a lot better either one of them if they were for a year less (and $$$ adjusted accordingly). -

Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to ozzfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pena getting $10M to rot up north had me worried about just how much the backup plan would cost (also assuming Pena was one of the alternate possibilities). This is great to hear. On to the 'pen. -
White Sox sign Daryle Ward and Jeff Gray
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) We should give Daryle Ward a nickname... "Plan Q" sounds about right. TPQ -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) For those who said they would welcome Bobby Jenks back on a lot smaller deal, would you be confident with him closing? Ozzie has said if Bobby were to come back he would NOT be guaranteed the closer's job. EDIT: fixed That would depend on Peavy's health which would affect Sale's role, and who else is in there. I'd rather have Jenks close than Thornton, but not Putz.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to witesoxfan's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) I wouldn't mind him back, but I really don't want to pay more than $2-$3 million with the kind of BS we got from him last year. I want him to be a bargain if he comes back. Yeah, for bargain money I want him back. The bullpen still could have been worse last year and as it stands now there are some spots to fill. Signing Dunn, AJ, and possibly Konerko eats some of that spending cash. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) I always thought it was a world-is-flat sort of belief in the scientific community that all life must be carbon-based. Just because that is what we know, that doesn't mean a damn thing about what other things could exist somewhere else. It may make those things probable, but to write off anything else entirely just seemed ignorant to me. My thoughts exactly. That said, it's still important that those who matter in this field are willing to entertain that thought.

Damn, I was sad to hear about this. I liked listening to Pat and Ron from time to time. RIP

I'm thrilled about Dunn, comfortable with the starting pitching, but wouldn't go after PK if it will prevent the Sox from doing something about the pen. Pena or DLee?
