**Official Twins vs. Yankees Thread**
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Brian's topic in The Diamond Club
Wow, I missed that play. If I lived in Minni or was a Twins fan I would throw Lens Crafters gift cards onto the field anytime Cuzzi worked. I hope the Twins take the rest of the games with brutal authority. -To soften the lopsided Swisher robbery, or trade. -To prevent this currently brewing, ridiculous notion that b**** Tits is clutch in October. He's not, and he has tits. Normally, I'm fine with the Yankees. I just want to savor any and all games played in the s***hole Dome until it's over. Weird, everytime I'd watch a Sox game there I would get a headache. I've taken enough Psych classes to qualify that, but I'm not in the mood. -
As a Sox fan I prefer last year for obvious reasons. From a baseball standpoint Twins/Tigers was more fun to watch. This is taking into account the numerous bases loaded/runners at corners with less than two out that never materialized, potential last game at the Dome, the extra innings, and remarkable Detroit collapse over the last month among other things.

I completely forgot about Jerry Owens.

Actually, Mike Golic is probably my only issue with the school and it's teams. I voted the network attention given to a s***ty team in the poll though. -

I still think at least until after the Twins series this isn't a wasted season. Should it come to pass, it lies on the shoulder's of our guys, even then, I think the play of our team may have given us more hope than we should have had- this is a rebuilding season in disquise. To compete till the end? f***ing Fab. I'll keep watching them so as long as they don't play in the Northeastern United States or Twinkle Dome. Kenny and Ozzie have years worth of credit built up in my book, no way this falls on anyone but the guys on the field. Not having checked at all, just for s***s, how did D-Town and the Twinkles fare against Boston and NY away? From what I recall, and I could be wrong, not well. Then we also did pretty good against the Yanks at home (Yup, the same ones that swept us). I can't pronounce them dead right yet.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) That's an incredibly weak DH. All of his value comes from his ability to play an above average thirdbase. Understood, but you could do worse, teams have done worse. Just in the past two years Oakland took an oft injured Thomas back, and paid a juiced out Giambi. They hit for power, but under the circumstances they were signed, it was going to be a surprise if they produced.

No one would be willing to find any, even a part time DH spot?
-
Dunno if it was a Cub or whoever they were facing, but someone got a ball hit inside their shirt (and I think Fukudome may have been the batter).

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) They better pull in the RF fence for Joe and Justin. Dimensions of the yard will be the same as the TwinkleDome. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) Jose would have looked a lot better if they didn't make four errors behind him. I'm a Jose fan. I didn't get to watch the entire game, but from what I caught, Hawk referred to 4 A's runs as gifts. That led me to believe we done did errors again. It's getting pretty tiresome... ALL of our starters have paid for this kind of s*** dearly lately. Jose gets another start, rightfully so. He is, after all, our fifth. Not his fault that the SS performs a mating ritual with a two hopper only to be shot down. *Disclaimer* All of the above statement qualifies only if errors commited by our "defense" played a part in A's runs scored. Hawk parroting the phrase "gift runs" leads me to believe Contreras got had by our Lead Glove calibur defense, or at least pitched to the level of a 5th starter. I know ScoPEDtt (It's a French name, the PED is silent) Hairston knocked it the f*** out of town, but after that I sorta just watched my Pulp Fiction DVD until the later innings. Did you know they smother french fries in mayo over there? Bad.

Farmer and it isn't even close. He's overlooked by the fan base- this guy is gold, and it makes me wonder about our fan base because of this. I've got a nice 55' LED flatscreen, and at about the time Sox games are played I'm rolling on home from work, but I will sacrifice the gas (driving around aimlessly) and lack of visuals just to hear Farmer.
-
He is missed sorely. On a side note I think he stranded seven before he decided enough baseball had been played and won the game.
-
It would be great if this led to the banishment of home run balls being tossed back onto the field. A whole lot of Cubs fans think they are the center of the baseball universe. I sat there and listened to one of my Cub fan buddies telling me that this was hilarious. Something doesn't take a Cubbie blue bounce? (101 seasons, for instance) Let's throw s*** at our beloved dumpster of a ballpark and it'll all be good! Vermin.

Jeter, I would be surprised. The other name highlighted in the article... Not so much.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) If the Jays are having a press conference, they've already gotten the OK from him. This is insane... Heard Rosenthal this morning say that he didn't have a NTC until later on in his contract, and it was limited at that. -
How many more starts does Jose get?

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) Javy is just one of those guys that stats people can never understand, and he's the perfect example of why you need to watch a baseball game. His WHIP is always pretty low, his K/9 is always very high, his BB/9 is always very low, so people look at the numbers and can't figure out what is wrong. Whoever it is that has the sig talking about Javy trying to patent the phrase "one bad pitch" and "one bad inning" is right on. He totally loses confidence and faith in his stuff and ends up throwing the wrong pitch in the wrong count (he'll throw a f***ing hanging curve 2-1/3-1 after he'd been dominating with his FB + CH), and often after getting into a jam by walking the speey #1/#2/#9 hitter after going 0-2 on him and then getting fancy trying to strike him out. This discussion always reminds me a bit of the manned v. unmanned warplanes debate. I trust my eyes (or better yet, those of a professional scout/one who has made it a career to evaluate talent) infinity times over dude who sits in front of computer with cheetos and mountain dew quoting bipaps, worps, verhoogs/9 and other things that are straight out of harry potter at me. Such ridiculous sounding things can be useful but can't and shouldn't be used to judge ballplayers like the Bible is used to judge sinners. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:06 AM) Or even first half 2006. As I recall, I was more excited about that team's chances as they were destroying teams. Yeah, I was pretty siked while in attendance when we hung a 20-spot against STL in June of 2006. At that moment I was positive like HIV that the Sox would roll through everyone again... Shortly afterwards, the friggin 57-win Cards that we outscored 97-3 in a 3 game set won October. My head hurt for almost a year after that.
