  1. I'll miss Murph. He added some variety. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I hope he sticks around, even if it's just weekends. The obvious positives coming from this are Mac+Extra hour of B&B. Even though I liked Murph, this move makes the Score much better. I get the feeling that a good amount of Murph bashers are just Silvy and Waddle (Mike and Mike Chicago Style) listeners.
  2. In 2007 our interleague record was one of the things that killed us. You don't just lose to inferior teams like we did. Had we turned that frown upside down we'd have been hella closer to the top and you wouldn't be getting that bitter taste in your mouth every time you hear "white sox" and "2007" in the same line. Sweep this horrid team.
  3. Dunno, but some of you may have jumped the gun a tad bit early on the Swish trade. Actually, yes, many of you did. Let this be a lesson learned. Now Pods (who I'm happy to see on the roster- as a backup...) and Owens will run down balls hit to center. Meanwhile everyone we got for Swisher who has 7 knocks is spitting in the face of that deal. Trading Swisher was the wrong move. I don't give two s***s about how much he was gonna make, how bad he struggled in his first year in a brand new city, what we got in return, at least for now is s***. With his versatility Swisher could cover for Dye, Quentin, Konerko, Anderwise, and even some of the clowns we've had throwing relief. In return we got absolutley nothing. As a fan of most KW moves, this gets an F-, even if Nick had 0 HR's instead of 7.
  4. Betemit seems to hit baseballs well. I like that, and I wasn't originally a fan of his acquisition.
  5. Keep it special, even though it has been used in numerous occasions throughout sports and wasn't even a part of the 2005 World Series run.
  6. Evolution picking up speed? Who the f*** needs GH...? *edit* unless this kidlet does...
  7. I'd love to see Anderson cemented in CF, but at this point, I'll be happy to see him make the team even if Wise is the CF. The problem is, Wise is the kind of guy you can pull off the bench for some pinch hit offense. Anderson is the kind of guy you use when you need defense. Actually, that pretty much solves the CF mystery... Wise/Anderson platoon.
  8. That would be incredible to have Farmer observe and comment on his excessive mound visits and notably tinier frame once a series.
  9. I don't hate MacDougal as much as some of the other clowns we've had coming out of the pen.
  10. Change at most banks (assuming you mean CoinCounter/CoinStar) is typically a lobby service. It can get stuck in the tubes since it's usually heavier then what they were designed to transport. Now then, I've been in banking for 5 years with 3 companies. TCF isn't half as bad as many of the other banks you'll find out there, I promise. No bank is complaint-free. I've seen people get hit with $300 in fees and shrug it off because they knew they were at fault, and I've seen people shout at some 18 year old kid over a $30 fee because they are so full of themselves that they can't admit they were wrong. Vermin is what they are. Just about 100% of customer complaints at any bank stem from said customer failing to understand the wonder and mystery of a checking account. Of course, there are some incompetant bankers out there, but there are also incompetent GMs in baseball, politicians in office, and police officers on the force. Banks operate by a set of rules. These rules are briefly explained upon the opening of any sort of account accompanied by some literature which is more in-depth. It's up to you whether or not you choose to read this literature. It's not like Bank X didn't like your name so they singled you out to hit you with a fee. The people you rain your hell onto when you visit the bank to complain didn't pocket your money to have a nice little pizza party somewhere. Generally if you're nice about it, fees get reversed.
  11. I am white. I am colorblind. I date an Indian girl, out of my closest friends, several are not white. I frown upon any sort of racial discrimination, which is exactly why I'm making this thread. All they hype and hoopla of a first African American President was lost on me (I like Obama, out of what we had to choose, he was the best choice), because after all, if everyone is equal why should we celebrate someone of a different color being elected into office? Obama is smart, educated, and seems like a generally honest person. I think the Bush tenure will prove to be a good one in the long run, but for the sake of the nation's sanity, Obama is the best thing that could have happened to it. Having said that, let me reach into my pockets...mmmhmm, Ah! Here we are... http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/21/chimp.cartoon/index.html NEW YORK (CNN) -- Leaders of the NAACP on Saturday called for the firing of the New York Post cartoonist whose drawing lampooning the federal stimulus bill has drawn charges that it's racist and encourages violence toward President Obama. NAACP's Benjamin Todd Jealous says the organization will take issue "national" if Post cartoonist isn't fired. 1 of 2 Speaking at the civil rights group's annual meeting in New York, NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said that if Sean Delonas is not fired, the group will call for protests of the paper and Fox television affiliates, which are owned by Post parent company News Corp. "There is consensus that if the Post does not ... get rid of the journalists who are responsible for this bit of hate speech seeing the light of day, that we will move this from a local, regional issue to a very national issue," Jealous said. The group also called for the cartoonist's editor to be fired. Many critics said the cartoon played on historically racist images by appearing to compare Obama, the nation's first black president, to a chimpanzee that had been shot by police officers. Don't Miss Racism row over chimp cartoon sparks debate New York Post apologizes for, defends chimp cartoon Chimp attack victim moved to Cleveland Clinic The cartoon references the mauling of a Connecticut woman by a chimpanzee who was later shot and killed by police. In its caption, one of the officers says, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." Obama had signed the bill the day before the cartoon ran. On its Web site Thursday, the paper offered a qualified apology, saying it was "most certainly not our intent" to express racism, but also accusing some of jumping at a chance to attack a paper they already disliked. Watch reaction to the Post's apology » "To them, no apology is due," the paper wrote. "Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon -- even if the opportunists seek to make it something else." But NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said that explanation rings hollow. "This is tastelessness taken to the extreme," he said. "For the publication to suggest the only people who object to it are constant critics of the New York Post is beyond ridiculous. "This was an invitation to assassination of the president of the United States and anyone who was not offended by it doesn't have any sensibilities." lol Hold up one sec there... I am a purveyor of the news on a daily basis. From time to time some stupid schmuck's political cartoon penetrates my news. Over the course of the last eight years every Bush political cartoon I've seen has had him portrayed, or at least implied that he is a monkey. Where was the outrage? Again, I'm pretty privey on the news and I saw not one complaint or objection to this. I object to any leader of a nation being depicted as an animal. I understand that this is how political cartoonists roll, and I'm well aware that such an idea falls under free speech, if speech is free then speech is free, and there should be NO outrage over a cartoon. The people behind this asanine idea need to blow a shotgun and swallow the load. You either hold everyone to the same standard- as I believe the goal of every civil rights activist in forever has been, or you hold everyone to the same standard, except if it offends me I'm gonna throw a hissy fit and call for people's jobs. Pick a team, and own it. Don't color yourself pink if you're purple. Hypocrites. It's a shame because things are seemingly moving in the right direction, progress, very clearly, has been made- but a certain few on both ends of the spectrum have a forum available to them with an audience to whom they can spew their bulls***.
  12. First time I felt the need to post in any sort of political forum, I agree.
  13. Yeah, it's almost a shame the fireworks didn't go off. It actually would have been the perfect tribute to hear the bombs blasting over Faust's "Goodbye". I'm sure the crowd wouldn't have minded, or Garland for that matter (Wasn't 35 one of his heroes?). It's probable that I would've had a tear or two. Such moments are more important to me than the big picture, and that is what makes baseball.
  14. Everything has been covered, but some that I got to attend: -Iguchi's ALDS Game 2 shot v. Boston -Frank Thomas' triumphant return to the Cell with the A's -The last few leading up to 163. Having attended Buehrle's no-hitter, this is one that really ranks up there with some of the 2005 happenings. Probably my favorite though: -Opening Day 2006. Banners, rain delay, the sound of fireworks in the empty Cell as Thome launches his first Sox bomb. That was magic. Later that year when I was at the Cards/Sox game that Mulder(?) left early, by the 3rd inning I was as sure as I ever was that the team was going back to the World Series. It was a cartoon of a baseball game... Funny how it was the Cards that eventually won it all.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) I didnt think the article painted him in a bad light at all. I think that was who Bobby was at the time. I thought the article was actually a GREAT read and loved it when i read it. Thought the same thing. Liked the article so much I read it again as soon as I was done with it. I think he even wrote that he thought Jenks was a good kid, just misunderstood.
  16. Trader Joe's has some scrumptious organic Fuji.
  17. I'm very interested and probable, seeing as how all these plausible dates are being presented so far in advance. Why softball though? Could be hella more fun with a pearl... Why not? *Chisox35: my home runs are like my children, and I name each and every one of them personally*
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) And it's not like KW has traded away our let go of our best players either. Orlando Cabrera and Juan Uribe are being replaced by Dumb & Dumber. If it works out, then hail hail, if not, both White Sox outcasts could have been had for delicious sums. Who the f*** is Nix? Please, seriously. A group of clowns v. some dudes that are proven winners for roughly the same amount of money. Yeah, I guess it could work out, I hope it does, but who the f*** is Nix?
  19. I like Wise as a pinch hitter and spot starter. I don't like Owens at all.
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...ex.html?eref=T1 Rodriguez actually probably frustrated me more than a Bonds or McGwire because people were actually insistent that he was going to reclaim the records in the name of clean athletes. A joke.
