  1. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) While all this is going on I'd like to say that I love how Ozzie used Wise. Pinch hitting him, spot starts, d-substitutions... But he's not a starter and at least in this 3rd game of the series after he's done nothing Swisher should have started in his stead.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Floyd has four more batters to go. Then Ozzie has to go to Thornton, unless Gavin just really finds that curveball and gets on one of his patented rolls through the line-up for 2-3 innings. Unfortunately, he's at 94 pitches and he still might have to go Monday on three day's rest against DET. I wonder who would be pitching for the Tigers in that theoretical game? I thought it was Garcia. Me thinks he would murder us with his junk.
  3. QUOTE (Bhay99 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:55 PM) 2 span bloopers and a base hit by kubel that never should have happened.... Against any other team, probably. We're playing the Twins though. They have and will continue to happen.

  5. I keep thinking and saying I won't, but I will- listen to it- as I'll be at work. I had an urge to smash the radio today though. Still not sure I'll journey to the Cell on Sunday though. I'm sure if the Twins win it before then though, Lee will be as good as a cigar on that mound and Chicago might lose it's bid for the Olympics due to poor air quality from the fireworks show we're bound to put on.
  6. The feeling this team gives me is one and the same as eating so much of something that you can't even stand the sight, thought, or smell of food. I'm thankful I have work tomorrow so I can't watch the game. I'm honestly leaning towards not attending Sunday's game which I hold tickets to. I've been preparing myself for this (series and subsequent collpase, or moreso kindly handing over first place) for months now and it's still more awful than I could imagine. Get your heads out of your asses and at least pretend to play like you want it. THEY certainly are. I heard Jessie Rogers on the Score today talking about how the light atmosphere hasn't changed after Tuesday night's violent and shameful rape. What don't they understand? The viewing public will be shafted if this 25 man joke makes it to October and to national television. Whoever draws them might as well throw a pitching machine on the bump and save their staff for when they have to face a baseball team. It will puzzle and confound these clueless f***ing hitters. Did I hear correctly that Blackie had a near 20 ERA in his last few starts? Disgusting. I want to eat these words so badly. I want to be proved wrong, but if I were a degenerate gambler I would pretty much bet my car and home on the Twins. Ditto to the idea, nay, fact that after the Twins clinch we will destroy Cliff Lee to the point where there will be questions about his winning a Cy Young.
  7. Twins fans throw Griffey Jr. home run balls back.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) Not to state the obvious, but this is the biggest game of the year. Don't tell the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) There we f***ing go. Now get some runs lol
  10. Why can't we want it as much as they do? It's like we"re fielding a bunch of Lovie Smiths with how urgently we're playing.
  11. Someone briefly touched on this earlier, but pitch around Morneau. I don't care if there are 11 men on base, he's seen enough pitches to hit from our pitching staff.
  12. f***ing speechless. Don't even know what I'd rather have at this point. Typically we're getting one hit till about halfway through in efforts like this against the Twins. Is it better or worse that we had the tying run swing at s*** pitches before meekly grounding out?
  13. I'll miss it, a lot. The Yankees and Red Sox get all the attention in the world. They are the same beast, yet I can't stand Boston, but other than whatever team 35 is on at the time, the Yanks are my choice in the AL. It's weird, I often prefer the underdog which was Boston's role until that wretched year 2004, but there's something about the Yanks I dig even though they have more than enough titles. Thanks in part to ESPN I've only seen more games at The Cell and Wrigley than The Stadium. I felt bad that Posada didn't get to close the joint out along with the others from the most recent dynasty, and felt bad that The Voice had to miss this whole season. It's a damn shame that they didn't make the playoffs this year. At least the All Star Game was played at Yankee Stadium... I'd love to have seen The Stadium in person but I'm not upset that I didn't for some reason. I've only seen it on tv and thats where my memories came from. On the same token I'd actually be pissed if I couldn't watch the game tonight on tv. I'll miss the place and I'm glad to hear that the new Yankee Stadium is said to look a lot like the former. Also glad they're sticking with "Yankee Stadium" and not "Bank of America Ballpark", or "Sprint Stadium".
  14. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) Swisher = Useless Hey now, high fiving the cardboard cutout of himself has been the highlight of the season for me. Not just White Sox, all of baseball. Finally a guy with my kind of humor. This year is a fluke. I don't want to damn Gio or single machine, but trading away a sick AAA curve on a toothpick body and an afore mentioned Sweeney is worth the numbers Nicholas has put up every year prior to this one. How did our 16 game winner fare last year? How about our 74 year old 40 game loser Contreras? Didn't Fields jack eleventy HRs? How many did he tag this year? Ask 99.9% of our community what their opinion of Juan Uribe was even halfway into this season. The point is this game is so f***ing year by year it's not even worth risking arthritis in your early 70's typing worthless fluff. I'm not specifically picking on you, MurcieOne, as I myself am guilty of screaming rape based on some of the lol performances turned in by our guys at times (Javy pissed me off this year, Crede for all I know could hit .300 next year (lmaoroflf***), I wasn't too fond of OCab's Cintron impersonation early in the year etc.), but one year's unfiltered cigarette is the next year's inhaler during an asthma attack. But I'm serious about the cutout high fives. If he hit .003 with a bar over it I would be glad to have him on our 25 man.
  15. Two hit by the mighty arms of Kansas City. The epic battle of fail between Minnesota and the White Sox rears it's ugly head once more. God smiles on the lucky suckers who draw the ALC Chumps in the first round. Let it be known, you WANT to be in the playoffs, but this is honestly something else. This isn't even backing into them, this is "the rules insist on a rep from the AL Central..." In a way, it's sort of like winning the NL West. All it means is one less week of offseason for your guys to rest up.
  16. I got my ALDS game 2 tix on Stubhub. It figures that in '06 and '07 when I had the weekday split season plan they missed the postseason (though between '06 opening night and Buehrle's no hitter it was more than worth it), but I figure I'll go the stubhub route again should they make it in. I'm actually going to wind up purchasing a split season plan for '09 again, but probably not in time to get the "playoff payoff" or whatever nifty name they came up with this time around.
  17. Surely there has to be a way to juggle an outfield of Wise, Griffey, Dye, Swisher, and when he returns, Quentin to maximize efficiency, even if it involves pinching and defensive replacements a little earlier than you normally would. Riding the hot hand especially now is the most important thing. How about DH'ing Carlos in a game against Cleveland if we're still fighting? There's also the potential D-Town makeup game and even a tiebreaker against our beloved Twins. If we're not fighting for it anymore by the Indians series I would like to see him get 3 games worth of AB's.
  18. If the Rays do what they did twice more and we play like we should against KC I'll feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable going into Minnesota.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:19 AM) If they can't, let Swisher throw an inning or two. The seed has now been planted, and my evening is ruined if it doesn't come to be.
  20. I'd be upset if we didn't give him a reasonable offer with a chance to be an everyday player. If someone comes along and gives him Ft. Knox, then we did all we could do. If the offers flying in at him are anywhere in the ballpark of what we'd be willing to pay, you sign him. He's done enough over the years to justify this. Also, if you do decide to let him go, it sure as hell better be AFTER you find a replacement. I seem to recall a situation that involved getting rid of Garland for a SS weeks after we had signed one... Last offseason's CF situation also relates to this. Plans A and B failed because we weren't willing to pay up. I'm not saying this didn't work out because I'm fond of our OF situation, but I think we got lucky. It certainly could have been worse, or even better, Jerry Owens might have plagued our lineup all year. Close call, learn from the mistake.
  21. I just read the espn twins game recap and also took note of Gardey's comments. Not exactly lighting a fire under their asses... I imagine if Sunday's nightcap was blown we'd hear some profanity from Ozzie, but not a concession speech. Either way, 2.5 game lead with Clay Richard throwing followed by 3 up there. Yanks aren't making the playoffs but might as well play like they are with The Stadium closing. Tonight made me feel warm and fuzzy, but only until 6:05 pm.
  22. It was clear he wasn't all there in the limited AB's this year, and I hope he comes back healed. You don't just trip and fall on 23 home runs in a shortened (rookie) season. It would be great to go into the offseason feeling certain about the infield- with Fields healthy you could simply slide Juan over one bag and place Ramirez back in his natural habitat. As it stands now I guess you could still roll the dice on that scenario, but with the surprising season the Sox are having I think Dubs is at the least looking for a backup plan should that blow up in his face. On the other hand, Fields didn't exactly take the batting crown and we currently have a 25-30 HR guy in the lineup hitting .220 or so. Probably a fluke (Nicholas' season), but to have two guys like that in the regular lineup...?
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) good Additionally, I like Uribe at third. His ability to play third, short, and second will be valuable with OCab gone (allegedly). Don't know if this has changed or not since it was pretty much presented as fact earlier in the season but if not, between Uribe, Ramirez, Fields, and any potential signee/trade you're bound to find a capable mix.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Buehrle vs. who? Crap, we're screwed. A newbie. Actually this newbie doesn't have an 11+ ERA so he probably won't dominate us.
