  1. Yeah but Anaheim isn't exactly playing with urgency. I recall hearing that they've been awful as of late. The thing that kills me watching the replay right now is we were up 2-0 into the 6th. Hold on just a little bit longer and you're 3.5 up on the Twins going into a tough set with Toronto.
  2. Something like that. Disinterested was the wrong word to use though.
  3. Sad to see Haeger go. I've always enjoyed watching knuckleballers throw, and I thought eventually he'd find some sort of relief role in Chicago, even if it was a cleanup role.
  4. Nice, Philly has always been my backup team if the White Sox shouldn't make it anywhere.
  5. I guess my question was with over 3 weeks left in the regular season, even if it would take more to heal and come back, would Quentin be eligible even if it were to happen in the middle of a playoff series? I haven't seen anything about him hitting the DL and I suspect that is because it would serve no purpose (in terms of roster spot) with rosters being expanded. I'm not sure if I'm right in thinking that, so I wonder- Would DL'ing him somehow make him ineligible? Does he have to be active on the last day of the regular season in order to be on the playoff roster? Again, other than espn.com stories on my lame cell phone, I've been working while this has all been going on, but IIRC Quentin's injury was revealed after callups (who are not eligible for playoffs). If he's not ready to start the postseason, would we be able to replace him with someone not on the roster before callups? (mayhaps a Mac?) Otherwise, would he be able to sit (not officially inactive or DL'd) until he's ready, even if that time happens to be in the middle of a playoff series? Lastly, if that was the case, would the team be willing to save a playoff roster spot for someone who is injured and unsure when he will be able to return? I don't know if we'll see this guy in '08 again either, and it's a damn shame. Luckily for us Griffey and Konerko have found their bats, and Uribe is a better third baseman than Joe Crede, both sides of the ball. It's still very early in their callups, but Mac and Wass have been picking up a flailing Carrasco, and Liney is back. 2.5 game lead, perhaps we have it in us. Where I had become all but disinterested in the season after that dismal road trip, it's suddenly turned into a good book which started slow but drew you in and wouldn't let go (War and Peace?). A club dealing with adversity always makes for a good watch (albeit life shortening if it's your own).
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I trust AJ on the basepaths. He's one of our smartest runners. Last thing we'd need is a speedster who messes up. Salt please?

  8. 9/7/08 CAJP v. LAA limited # of seats available.
  9. A run here would make me feel great about this team. Even with a run though, I won't feel confident going into Minnesota with anything less than a 12 game lead.
  10. I still would trust Uribe to rip a double there. But eh, still alive, even though we've got Owens the Polish Missle in the lineup.
  11. This man couldn't have found his stroke at a better time. We've been winning without his bat the whole year, and now Quentin is gone, but Konerko is back.
  12. So now having been away for awhile due to limited internet access, Quentin is out for at least 2 weeks, maybe more. Should we make the playoffs, is he going to be eligable to stay on the roster (assuming he heals well)?
  13. Would I be able to change my screenname? If so, I'd like to be Swingandalongonetoleft from this day forth. Thanks.
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Now you see why some of us wanted to keep Uribe. He's worth every penny he's being paid. And lol at anyone who argues the lamb Crede ought to play in his stead.
  15. Nothing is written yet, but much bad has been happening lately. We've had so many chances to pull away from the Twins, and we lay eggs-like tonight. I want to see the playoffs, but if we stumble into them, what happens then? Boston, TB, and LA are not just a little better, they're AL v. NL better. Playing them is bad, what about at Fenway or the Trop? Losing the makeup game in Baltimore kind of got me preparing for a Sox-less October. Not too much has gone right since. I realize we may be there yet, but my gut tells me otherwise. I hope I'm wrong for doubting this team.
  16. Tracked the game from my slow ass Sprint cell phone at work. Crede payed for Uribe again?
  17. Pathetic parenting. Excellent for the future of America.
  18. /\ We were winning with Uribe courtesy of his glove and bat. I wasn't surprised at all, because he's shown this in the past. It's been said already but Juan lost 2nd to Alexei because he was outplayed, and before Crede went on the DL, a scarecrow could have outplayed him-at least at the plate. Since we don't have a scarecrow, Fields, then Juan were the default options and Juan has earned the spot. Never mind the glove, dude has raised his average like eleventy hundred points. In the middle of a race late in the season, I'm not hoping the Lamb suddenly "finds it" again while Uribe hits doubles, DRAWS WALKS (!), and plays a captivating third base. The debate was Getz, not Juan v. Crede. Getz is gone, perhaps Crede can spot the starting third baseman from time to time.
  19. Wow I want that makeup game even more now. Great job M's. It's good to know you'll walk away with at least one here.
  20. Usually black authentic Spring Training jersey with any hat. I want to find a black authentic Frank Thomas jersey sometime though...
  21. Apples and Oranges, I know, but driving down to Florida a couple weeks back, I was listening to Sox@KC on XM with KC's call. After that, I recognized that what we have here is fine no matter how lame the catch phrases and homerisms are. And plus we have Ed Farmer which ought to make up for 1000 Chris Singletons, DJ's, or Hawks. (I love all three of em, but a lot of you don't).
  22. I've got 4 nice Louisville Slugger M9 maple bats that I love swinging. 2 of them are so nice I don't even use them to hit.
  23. We have Carlos Quentin! If I were a child being conditioned in Brave New World, this would be the phrase being repeated over and over under my pillow.
  24. For about the last month.5 I've enjoyed Boston losing almost as much as a Twins loss. The WC is as realistic and just as probable as a division win.
  25. But please, I love Hawk and all, but his "and this game is OVA" is about as annoying as every other one of his sayings combined and multiplied by eleventy. He needs to stop this, and everyone here needs to not end words like "winner" or "over" with an 'a'. Come on now...
