  1. Stunning performance. We should sign guys like Stultz for whatever it takes- purely to throw bp to our hitters. Another sad tidbit: those near no-hitters of Gavin's feel like those dreams you're having when you doze off only to forget everything that took place. Sucks, I really want that to start happening again but our "offense" just doesn't warrant that. Just when I was forgetting how it felt to see Hall in the lineup last year, frickin Ozuna at third takes me down memory lane.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Well, I can already guarantee the Sox are losing tomorrow (not only is it against a rookie, not only is he a lefty, but he's f***ing Kershaw, so forget about it), so hopefully they can win tonight. Sweet, court date and Clayton Kershaw on my birthday! Good thing I don't have a dog or hold stock at the moment.
  3. "You don't need the RIAA for there to be musicians. Look at Radiohead or any other number of bands that are self-producing now." Radiohead and many of these other musicians (NIN was another one I think) are WELL established. If this was the way out, more acts would be diving head first into it. It may eventually be the way to go, but for now, a huge following (Radiohead, NIN) make this a less risky move.
  4. Other than being a Cubs fan, he doesn't do too bad a job giving both sides fair coverage. Mully and Hanley are consistantly given praise for sticking to sports topics, but I can't remember the last time I heard Murphy talking anything other than sports (not counting Browns Chicken). Plus, I find his cheese humor and ridiculous voice entertaining.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) Man, is Wise a decent player after all? Didn't see the game on TV here. Does he have a true clue at the plate? Obviously sample size, but if it ain't broke... I actually find myself more nervous recently when some of our other guys step up to the plate.
  6. Don't get me wrong, Hood is good I just don't know if a midday 10-2 slot would work. He *does* have some sports knowledge. Thing I've noticed is it doesn't seem like he's being himself. He seems to take on other's personalities. Not having listened much lately, I remember him modeling himself after McNeil not too long ago. Murph
  7. What's this? End of 9 at Wrigley and no one singing along to a clown Jimmy Buffett wannabe song?
  8. Unbelievable. Curious how people would react if (IF) they did end up playing at the Cell should there be renovations and they played like this at "home".
  9. Soon as Murton made contact I was certain that was going to be a long shot into the night flanked by Kermit the Frog yelling at the top of his lungs.
  10. He was starting to make me use my XM more and more recently with his on air negotiations, but I'll miss him. At least theres still Murph (yeah I think he's good) and Boers/Bernstein. Nowhere near as sad as 1000's decision to stop airing Rome, even if it was on a delay. That one still has me reeling, and since then I've mostly listened to the Score. MJH and The Show (cause it beats Scores evening programming unless it's Sox) are the only things I enjoy at WMVP anymore. Just wish there was some way to listen to both BB and MJH without having to switch between em cause MJH is great, but to me BB is greater. sayeth Hatchetman: "The mystery is what the new WSCR lineup will be. I don't think Mully and Hanley can do six hours every day...or can they? " Maybe they move up and Murph gets more than 20 minutes to do a show?
  11. Boers+Bill Cowher=Bob Brenly I too would give Guillen a job for life here. I can't and don't want to imagine the dugout without him.
  12. Yeah that's what I meant. He's sure as hell not gonna be Ricky to the point where you're damned if you pitch to him, and damned if you don't.
  13. Javy is part of why this rotation has been doing what it's been doing. Lately, he's seemed a little like the Javy of '06 rather than '07, and in turn our rotation has turned in performances unlike any others they have this year. I'm not looking at any info/stats, but IIRC Floyd hasn't been his '08 self for at least two starts (2 out error or not), same with Contreras, and Danks was fine Friday, but the start before that he wasn't. Buehrle has in turn picked it up. Probably nothing to get worried about yet, but it needs to stop. The lambs we call "offense" require lights out pitching at all times. The reason for his fatigue yesterday? Eric Patterson was a pain in his ass. Eric Patterson will probably drop off the face of the world in about a week, but his game was Podsednik-esque this past weekend. It made me wish we had a legit base-stealer.
  14. Why does Javy insist on walking these bat-less speed monsters?
  15. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) Didn't AJ hit that 3 run homer in the 9th against Dempster to get the lead and then those low-life cubs fans trashed the field with garbage? Also, didn't Ross Gload begin that rally with a 2 out single as well? Ah yes, a moment so good I still haven't finished basking in it's glory.
  16. Eh, I'm of the opinion that while underneath all the makeup it's just another series against another (non-division) team, lots of times underneath the makeup of the girl you went home with is a girl you wouldn't bring home had she no makeup. So far we lost courtesy of a walk-off, and a back alley raping. Humiliation and two less wins we'll have at the end of the year. 90% of my friends just got the green-light to make me miserable until next Friday (and probably after that too, because they're simply the better teams this year). It would be really nice to win these games is all I'm saying, and not just to keep pace with the Twinks and Tigers. On the side about the game, almost as bad as the 4 homer inning was letting that clown escape with only one run in the top of the 8th. Do some damage and all of a sudden what took place in the 9th has a whole new significance. Maybe AJ wouldn't have given that AB away... As demoralizing as a 9 run inning was, taking it all back and possibly winning would have stopped a lot of the text messages that were coming to my phone, and would also have stopped my ears from hearing that god forsaken Jimmy Buffett wannabee song.
  17. Hahaha I think I would've just thrown at him. That would've saved everyone about a minute of their life.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) Yeah, I was listening in for that. Stoney went off on a nice little discussion of how Soto had never hit more than 5 home runs in his career over 6 years or so and suddenly already has 12 this year and has turned in to one of their most dangerous hitters. Combine this with Dempster following suit and all of a sudden you've got the whole town buzzing about "It's Gonna Happen". A bunch of them probably sat down and said look, it's been 100 years, all the attention will be on us, we can be gods in this city forever, why not? The reward outweighs the risk tenfold. And it pisses me off.
  19. Anybody who looks, sounds, and thinks like that assclown is someone who has earned my sympathy, regardless of whether or not he makes millions more than I do for writing out of his ass. In fact, I'd say that he's gone so overboard on the unfounded criticism and hatred of Guillen/Dubs/Reinsdorf that it's lost it's shock appeal. Dude is writing himself out of a job.
  20. 2/3 from them still can deflate them after that Tampa series, but the nature of this victory (come from behind/walkoff) will negate some of that... Damn, I really wish ANY of our hitters could move runners over. I think Anderson, Swisher, Ramirez, and Quentin had leadoff or 1 out doubles. Pathetic. Dotel may be having a decent season but I get nervous everytime he's put in a big spot with a small lead. He reminds me of another clown from our bullpen's past. I don't really put this on Ozzie as much as I do our "offense".
  21. We'd strand a sailboat at second with gale force winds today.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) does it have to do with how it's odd than a person at his age with the career minor league numbers he had is suddenly a force? Pretty much it. Blah blah blah...averaging 5 home runs a year for 6 years coming up....blah blah blah has 12 now...yadda yadda yadda likes to take it in the butt, needles that is. Last part was the summation.
  23. Some very curious things being said about Soto by Farmio and Stonio right now.
