Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 24, 2008 -> 06:31 AM) If the White Sox lose, according to Soxtalk there are only limited options for who to blame: 1. Juan Uribe 2. Greg Walker 3. Ozzie Guillen 4. Jim Thome 5. Juan Uribe fixed. Swish really needs to get his s*** together. There are so many automatic outs in the lineup as of today that it's beyond comprehension how the offense would be if those hitters started coming around. Quentin is great and all, but he shouldn't be carrying a team full of seasoned vets (especially since Juan Uribe isn't here to help shoulder the load). Kudos to Dye though, he could hit oil in my front lawn if he wanted to at this point. -
Reason to Suspect Quentin is Using Illegal Substances

Whoever said that Rosenbloom is worse than Mariotti has not read Rosenbloom. Whereas Mariotti yells fire! and runs, Rosenbloom will try to justify his writing. He's not always right, sometimes he's downright wrong, but he's always a good read in my opinion. I haven't read the article and I'm guessing I'll disagree (at least with the idea of accusing someone in a public forum of PED use) but will I disagree enough to cancel my subscription for the Trib? No, that's the definition of overreaction. No one here would be as up in arms about this if it were Soto or Hafner he was writing about. Watching Carlos hit is just fun. This is the first Sox since Frank Thomas who I look forward to seeing his AB's. I don't think he's the next Babe Shelton since he didn't come out of nowhere. That said, I would be lying if I said that Q using PEDs has never crossed my mind. -
Jose Contreras has had a spot in my baseball heart since NY. This is just great right now.

After listening to Terry Boers talk about just how much he would give up for the no. 1 pick this year, this is all the more unreal. That and Jim Thome going yard off Sabathia again. -
I picked Giacomo a few years back for the Derby. For about a week after that race I though anything I touched would turn to gold. Since then it's been baaad. I picked Recapturetheglory for the Derby. Didn't even bother with the Preakness this year.

San Fran isn't hella great, but, a successful team is one who wins the games they ought to win. Last year we dropped 2 of 3 to Pittsburgh and went 4-14 against the NL. Turn that frown upside down and we're fighting for second with Detroit. Play well within the division and put NL teams in their place, and the sun will shine on the Southside. -

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) I would love to see the Sox take a catcher in the first round. AJ isn't going to live forever. A catcher who you know is going to start one day soon should be one of their priorities.

Alexei has this s*** eating grin on his face at all times that would tempt me to hit him if I were a pitcher. He'd probably get up, brush the dirt off his uni, and smile like a friggin cheshire cat again on the way to first.

I know this, but I don't know if "outdated" is the only adjective I'd attach to it. The White Sox fight song is outdated, and can hardly be considered good music, but in a novel sort of way. Both are meant to be fight songs, and in that regard one kicks the s*** out of the other. -

I know Cubs fans who laughed at Maddux on Thursday also. Most of them would probably never guess Mad Dog's ties to the Cubs (or how he played for them like, you know, 2 years ago). You're right, these are clearly people who know s*** about baseball, yet they're so vocal when their team is doing good. Baseball would be so much better without these kind of "fans". Maddux = My favorite pitcher in the game. I was hoping the one game the Padres did take was his start. -

I think the thing that makes me not like the Cubs is their wannabe Jimmy Buffet song go cubs go. It's not music, it's noise. The fact that they're undefeated this year isn't alleviating that situation one bit. Only L's can stop it. -
Ranch was far too salty, most of the flavored ones were. Long cut cope with a toothbrush/paste within arms reach is my preference.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2008 -> 12:21 AM) I also want to point out that it looks as if Swisher is getting closer and closer to getting out of his funk Yeah he was hitting the ball hard yesterday, it was good to see. Offensive victory aside, most of our pitching staff is just brilliant, and it'd be so much more fun to watch if the offense just gave the dog a damn bone like it did last night and the first two in Seattle. I expect Buehrle will be joining the other four Friday in S.F.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) Andruw Jones = teh sux0rz Doesn't care about the fans...shows up to camp overweight...and apparently is lying (in some way, shape, or form) to everyone. I wish the Sox had signed him! What a great read. "Look at your belly hanging out of your shirt. You're probably going to die tomorrow" was my favorite part. -
It makes me sad when just a few weeks into the season we're discussing Pierzynski leading off for the team. Never would have thought this coming into the year.

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Somebody on the score said it today, I think it was Abbatacola. If you're .500, you're .500. This was said in regards to the white flag trade. If we're under .500 but only a few games out of first at ASB and pick the last few weeds out of our drought stricken farm for hired help, then management changes need to be made. I don't think KW would do that though, you're really shorting him there with that statement. KW is not George Steinbrenner. Some fans here are really the what have you done for me lately type (and by lately I mean in the last 4 hours). He needed a DH after 05 so he got Thome. He's not Father Time, he can't control Thome's age. Konerko seemed like a leader after that great year also, and he was a 30-40 hr producer before then too. The decisions he made with our offense would have been made by most every GM in the game. It's not his fault that you guys are all smarter than he is. Paulie, Thome, and lots of times Crede and AJ frustrate me too. For now they're here to stay. I liken it to being in a tough cash bind with car payments, credit cards, and phone bills due. You're gonna have to skip the bars for a while until it's cleared up. In this case, it's looking like we're skipping the bars until April of '09. For the optimistic part of this post, I was up to my neck in credit card and dental bills (wrecked tooth, capping required, alcohol involved). Like an angel out of heaven my refund check came, and it greatly alleviated the situation I was in. Maybe Thome starts jacking one out every 5 at bats and Paulie masters the art of not grounding out or K'ing looking. Doubtful, but I always looked at 7 games out by late June as the quitting point except in fluke situations. It's mid-may, and although some in our division are gathering steam it's not lost yet. I hate OCab though. I thought we got rid of him after last season and the Cubs picked him up only to let him go also? -

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 13, 2008 -> 11:40 PM) Swisher had to be on the juice, right? How else do you explain the drop in performance. There's no power, and the few times he hit the ball hard, it made it to the warning track. I think if Ruth put on our uniform he'd be grounding into double plays left and right as well. Maybe we should make like Tampa Bay and just be the Sox. Seems to be working for them... -
Bonds facing new charges
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Leonard Zelig's topic in The Diamond Club
I like Barry. If he gets snagged and the other cheaters don't, then it's a shame. It puzzles me (no it doesn't) how the legal spotlight shines on Bonds and Rog.
