  1. Are you talking about $5 footlongs? Cause if I had to choose between listening to that for a month straight nonstop or listening to "splittin' sides as the laughter goes rouUUNND" twice in a row I'd choose the subway. I'm an easygoing person with whom it takes much effort to piss me off. Rarely ever do actual people get to that point, but this noise pollution hit the first pitch right out of the park. *edit* i'll drink squirrel urine by the cup before one drop of this beverage enters my mouth.
  2. That miller chill commercial on the score that plays 15 times in an hour is the worst piece of media in the history of media. It would be the sad shock of a lifetime if whoever greenlighted that/was involved in the production of it are still employed by miller brewing company. There aren't words in the english language capable of describing how horrid that minute (it feels like 15 minutes) of airtime is. I feel ashamed for those involved with this abomination.
  3. Fonz redeeming himself in the 9th after yesterday's happenings was as predictable as 7 coming after 6.
  4. Hate is a strong word, but I dislike Owens. Even so, something needs to happen with this "offense" (i use the term lightly) and for a limited period of time I'd be willing to give JO an audition in the stead of Alexei, with Swish playing first while Thome/Konerko rotate based on the matchup. Ideally Anderson would find some AB's too.
  5. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 1, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) That's way too much rotating for me....I'd like a little more consistency. I'd like Owens up here for a couple reasons. We can use a a lefty pinch hitter and a good pinch runner... and I'd like Ramirez to get consistent AB's in AAA. That's it. Once we start talking about Owens leading off and starting in CF...I start thinking...I'd rather him stay where he is. JMO In my vision Owens would probably start twice a week, and the continuity of that would be in direct correlation to the success he has with those limited AB's. The main reason behind this idea would be to get Swisher further down the order without having to make Quentin lead off, and giving Brontosaurus and Stegasaurus (who the f*** was Carl kidding?) time off as needed. I just think Owens would be more valuable to have than Alexei at this point, even with 1 or 2 starts a week, *but* I wouldn't bring him up here to exclusively be a pinch runner. Keep in mind I don't like Owens too much, I'm just looking for potential ways for OC to ground into less DP's per week. *Edit* And if it doesn't work, f*** it. Try to keep your head above water until Richar is good enought to come back, then banish Orlando Cintron towards the bottom of the order, save for unless he gets his s*** together like I expect him to...I like Juan for his glove and those times where he mistakenly thinks he's Babe-Rod, but I guess he would be the odd man out in the Richar scenario, unless Richar falls flat on his face (but didn't the Diamondbacks draft him?).
  6. Dear Lou, Your cute little blowing up at ump/media/farm animal in order to motivate your team has gotten old. How many Sox games this season alone have been lost painfully or in the late innings where Ozzie has kept his cool afterwards? Bud Selig should prohibit this man from managing because he will give himself a heart attack sooner rather than later. I thought Dusty was cool. Not a big Lou fan. Ryan Braun had a glorious postgame comment. Called cubs fans obnoxious.
  7. I like em on the Score. Has more of a Chicago feel to the station. Only problem is early in the season (now) it messes up the Boers and Bernstein schedule.
  8. I thought of something similar last night. I'm no Owens advocate, but calling him up and starting some big rotation between Owens/Swisher in Center and on days where Owens starts mix Swisher up with Thome/Konerko (maybe even Dye, but moreso Paulie and Thome) at DH/First/Right to keep our dinos fresh. At least if Owens gets on he could be at second via SB when Cabrera bounces out to short. Throw Nicholas and his walks in front of Quentin, and well... Maybe have Swish exclusively spot Thome and Konerko and Anderson-Dye. Alexei should be great but not this year except as a September callup.
  9. I want to see one of the two mentioned, but would anyone be surprised if it was Mac? Not I says I.
  10. Dumbfounded at the success their pitching staff is having right now. Dempster especially.
  11. Ramirez is great, and I'm happy we got him, but he looks like how I would imagine a 12 year old would stepping onto a big league field. There's nothing wrong with that as it's totally understandable being young, coming from Cuba and getting tossed into an MLB lineup (Contreras and Duque were in their early-mid 50's so this doesn't apply to them) but seasoning needs to take place in AAA, and perhaps a September call-up.
  12. I think Cabrera will pick it up. He's got to- even Uribe will either K or at least fly out deep, which if there's a man on usually he advances. Cabrera goes down and takes whoever's on first with him with stunning regularity. That usually happens to be Swisher, and it's curious how the positive impact of one offseason acquisition is being completly shat on and erased by the inabilities of another. Having Swish and his OBP lead off with Alex Cintron hitting second is comparable to owning a Maserati and not being able to drive it because you're blind and don't have limbs. Swish/his OBP=Maserati, Orlando Cintron=crippling handicaps. I blame OCab is what I'm saying.
  13. We had 9 hits and 3 walks. It's frustrating when you leave runners on, but if we get a hit everytime there are runners on then I'm pretty sure our offense would be unparalleled in the history and future of the game, and it wouldn't even be worth playing games anymore. That goes for all teams, at all levels. Everyone does it (LOB's), and I think fans of teams who get shut out often(which has happened once, maybe twice to us this year) have more of a right to complain. At least we put runners on base... Carlos jacked another, Uribe is drifting closer to the Mendoza line, BA got 3 hits, and Swisher walked twice. Worse games have been played, dear Chicken Little's, and worse will be played...
  14. i would agree if i had a radio but i'll be following on lameday.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) so I would have no problem with Masset being sent down i beg to differ
  16. Frank Thomas triple should have led off the evening news. I think he likes facing Jon...
  17. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) How many times a game does farmer say... "High and deep! But playable for...." ugh. If the ball is hit high and deep, but is playable for an outfielder, how else would you want it described. Farmer rules.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) Is it lonely as the only member of the Juan Uribe fan club. I'm in the club. Good D and a .230-.240 BA (hopefully soon), combined with his power that comes during hot streaks, and for a #9 hitter, why not? What kind of second baseman bats as many runs in as Uribe usually will? At *worst* let Alexei get some regular AB's in Charlotte once Richar is good to go, and then platoon the two of them. Alex Cintr..err OCab isn't exactly spraying the ball anywhere other than to short for DP's, and from watching his 'gold glove D' this year I've concluded that such a designation means nothing.
  19. Wow. Didn't Canseco go out of his way to say this never happened with Roger and he was faithful to his wife? If this is true then methinks Jose knew something.
  20. Reed Johnson's batting stance/the thing growing on his face piss me off. And who names their kid "Reed"? Other than that I think it was a good pickup based on their outfield plight. The fans are lovin him and he seems to have a positive effect in the clubhouse (I'm assuming). He's getting playing time now with Sosariano out, but anyone else think Pie was on someone's s*** list over there?
  21. yes and yes. i would have also accepted ba-dum-ching
  22. /\/\/\ What do you call two drums and a cymbal falling down the stairs?
