  1. Being a Juan Uribe fan, I was pretty happy he slammed in what may have been his last game as a Sox at the Cell today. It wasn't my favorite play of the year, but I was happy for him.
  2. Chris Shelton remains my least favorite ballplayer ever.
  3. Well, D-town couldn't do much against the East, and it's looking like we can't either. Watching these last 2 series have made me sad.
  4. Chris Berman is in my top 2 least favorite people on earth.
  5. I don't recall too many teams that had the ridiculous offense like we do AND an unhittable staff. Buehrle's game against the Twins, the Sunday night game v. Astros, and even Sunday's game (despite the outcome) showed that no matter how terrible our pitchers are, the offense will pick them up. It won't be quite the same should we make it to the playoffs, but for the time being, our pitchers have some room for mistakes.
  6. With the position we're in, and how valuable Gooch is to us, I'd like him to see him take a breather. Uribe has been swinging the magic stick, so why not let Cintron have his playing time at second for the rest of the week.
  7. "Thome doesn't need to risk an injury for a damn derby" This isn't soccer. I don't see a home run derby as a serious injury threat to Thome, and for the afore-mentioned reasons I'd rather see Thome in it than Dye.
  8. Ozzie hasn't said anything crazy for a few days now, and AJ and Barrett resolved their issues like men. That doesn't make for a good story. What would they show? Baseball?
  9. It was nice to hear them shut their pie-holes after Juan's shot, but who in the hell is Angel Pagan? How do you let this man get not one, but two shots off you in one game? And I know Z is a good hitting pitcher, but come on... After the game, there was a guy on the Redline that just wouldn't shut the f*** up. There were old people and children on the train, and he was just letting it rip in the most profane manner about how the Sox lost to a pitiful team, and that equates to them sucking. He was politely told to shut the f*** up several times, but it just wouldn't stop. He didn't even look liquored up. It's not indicitive of all Cubs fans, but it just goes to show how bitter and jaded some of them are with the Sox taking it all, and then going on to a hot start, while the Cubs dwell with the roaches and rats near the bottom of the s***hole that is the NL Central.
  10. This will make going to the Northside with my #12 jersery that much sweeter tomorrow...
  11. The Pirates were due. They'll lose their next three to Detroit, but you don't lose as many baseball games in a row as they did. I didn't get to watch the game, so I don't know how our bullpen was used leading up to the ninth, but putting Cliff in that situation coming off the DL was not the prime move.
  12. I don't really mind seeing 35,000+ fans at home games, regardless of whether they used to like the Cubs or not. At some point in time, you're gonna want to see a baseball game, and that can't be had at Wrigley.
  13. I was getting pretty sick of everyone whining about Uribe.
  14. My favorite is how guys like Albert Pujols were "saving" baseball this year. It's '98 all over again. Easy to see why Bert took the time to defend Barroid a few weeks ago.
  15. I'm hoping the Sox will see the hunger the Tigers are playing with and use that as motivation to wake up. Last year we were 5 or 6 games ahead of everyone at this point and at the end we needed every last one of those games.
  16. While the best booth in Chitown is Brenly/Kasper, Ed Farmer single-handedly throws the Sox radio booth in the mix with his sense of humor. I don't know what it is, but his voice will always equate to the 2005 WS winners to me, and . That said, I enjoy DJ and Hawk, they're similar to Farmer/Singleton, and they're more enjoyable as the chemistry grows. Keep things the way they are.
  17. I found myself cracking up a few times as well from my section 522 vantage point. I'm sure as hell gonna miss Dusty...
