White Sox hire Rick Renteria and Greg Sparks
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was under the impression that Maddon or not, Renteria probably wasn't going to be around once Theo & Friends felt they were ready to compete. He may have stayed through the extra year (2015 season) if their bespectacled messiah didn't fall into their hands (obviously there was some collusion there as well), but that entire thing felt temporary from the moment he was hired. -

QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Alexi came to our White Sox in 2006 and has been here ever since. Time for this era in White Sox History to close. He signed after the 2007 season. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) He is a Sox killer whether is is on another team or the White Sox. Yeah, it seems like that's how it usually works out when teams try to solve their problems by signing them. -
It's not Styx or Def Leppard, but reading this thread

You almost get the feeling that someone just felt like playing army because they could. This kind of response wasn't warranted even if there were 3 suspects.
-
Very sorry for the family, this is a far more tragic outcome for them even prior to being amplified (I would imagine) by the public nature of this. The resources dedicated to finding 3 imaginary suspects in the initial days were probably greater than what some small nations could have put up. 400 Cops from all over the state, some armed as if they were going to Syria, Helicopters, ATVs, Dogs, Submarines, Unicorns...why was this necessary? It would be nice if even a thousandth of that effort was put into murder investigations of victims who happened not to be police officers.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Very surprised. I don't see him re-signing. He'll get at least a 2/$15M from somebody out there. I think so too. -

Brutal. Probably the only thing that could make this worse if you're a Mets fan is if a bird flying by took a s*** on your head. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) You've just identified the Achillies' heel of both the Astros and the Mets. Middle relief. If Sox FO were any good, they'd recognize that , and would open a dialogue regarding it with both teams. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Bingo. Cubs fans on twitter already comparing it to Buckner. Didn't catch a replay, but the runner crossing in front of Murphy right before the ball got to him had to have played a role in how that play unfolded. I hate when managers throw their closer for anything other than getting 3 outs in the 9th. While the runners put on by Clippard contributed to a precarious situation that probably had the defense on edge more than they usually would be, I wish he would have either kept him in, or gone to someone other than the closer. Ideally, keeping Matz and the relievers that followed him prior to Clippard would have stayed in a littler longer. -

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Frank Thomas on the post game show The cast of Fox' Pre and Post has an interesting makeup. A Hall of Famer who hasn't been particularly timid opining on PEDs in baseball , and two would-be Hall of Famers; one a degenerate gambler who gambled on the team he was managing , the other a compulsive liar who rode his way to the top of several prestigious MLB records via PEDs. -

Who does SoxTalk prefer to win the World Series?
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
I think I'd prefer the Mets win- their starting pitching is just fun to watch. In reality, as long as Bart Colon gets a few plate appearances and an extra base hit or two, everyone wins. Would be hilarious if Murphy could hit one tonight after having a week off. -
