  1. Hopefully for a bus ticket to send LaRoche far from here.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) Its been said that Papelbon will only waive his no-trade if he is assured he will be their closer. I was just wondering about that, as there is Storen... On one hand, that's classy of him (0% surprising), considering he's been less than subtle about wanting away from Philadelphia- on the other, he's just protecting his value. I don't think his vesting option specifies games finished as a closer, but I'm not one to delve into the fine print on someone's contract.
  3. What is the thought process behind waiting until the Chicago Sky have a better shot at an MLB Playoff berth than you before embarking on a legendary 2-3 game stretch of more than 1 run per game by the offense?
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Sincerely hope Connor finds a future as an MLB regular. Same
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) It's interesting how they're bouncing Abreu between 2-3-4 in the order. If he's hurt, they should bounce him to a DL.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Schwarber again. Their draft scouting is incredible My entirely baseless gut feeling is that what he's doing now won't be anywhere near what he ends up being, but damn. Even though this FO hasn't brought them to the playoffs yet, there's no arguing with them. It looks like Cub fans get to sit back and just watch the next few seasons without really having to worry about much. Edit- I payed attention to Reds/Cub until about the time Cinci took a 2-Run lead. After the last play of the Sox game, I just flipped it back to CSN figuring that they had either come back and won, or that they took it to extras and it was still going on. Sure enough...
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Put my 4 Foo Fighters tickets on stubhub for a pretty steep price. Figured if someone was willing to pay that much, go for it. If not, I'll happily go. They all sold and now I'm kinda sad. Good investment though. I've had that adventure before. The last time it happened, I put up my GA ticket for one of the shows during Wilco's six-night run at the Riv this past December- for a very stupid price. I didn't even other checking the Stubhub listing the day of the show because there was no way anyone was going to buy it for the listed price. As I'm entering the Riv, my ticket doesn't scan, so I'm in the process of turning around and heading to the box office when the gate keeper tells me not to worry about it and lets me pass. I felt a little guilty when I figured out what had happened after the show.
  8. The name of the game this weekend is Pinpoint the Play that finally convinces the FO to Concede.
  9. If you like free surprises, Wilco appears to have released a new album- unannounced, and made available for free as a download (I assume the part about it being free is temporary) on their website. http://wilcoworld.net/
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/201...g-to-wls-am-890 That article gives me a bad feeling. I hope they lock them (Farmer/DJ) up sooner rather than later; drawing this out will seriously put a damper on what little enjoyment this team would have been able to provide baseball-wise for the rest of the season.
  11. Any change on the radio side of things would be very, very disappointing. That's my preferred method of taking in a Sox game, and it's just fine the way it is.
  12. Highlight for me so far has been that David Ortiz hasn't somehow found a camera to get in front of.
  13. I actually have more interest in this year's Circus Series than I have in recent years. I guess that's not too surprising in a year that the Sox crashed and burned before they ever took off while the Cubs walk around hiring magicians, farting rainbows, and holding on to a Wild Card spot in mid-July.
  14. I stupidly purchased a Miami Marlins hat prior to the 2012 season.
  15. Watching a clip of the Peralta shot; the Cub fan that snagged the ball from the basket is brutal. http://m.mlb.com/video/v242397683/stlchc-p...?game_pk=414930 Please, just stop with this clown "tradition" of throwing the opposition's "HR ball" onto the field. Cub fans in particular should jump at any chance to revel and bask in success and achievement, even if it is the visiting team's most of the time.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) Abreu and LaRoche each get one off Dickey. Josh Donaldson too, just because.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) Somehow Danks has 0.4 WAR this year. There are far worse things going on with this team than John Danks.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 07:38 AM) oh so now they have the worlds best fans and the gold standard for baseball viewing. F*** this bull**** Their grounds crew uses a mixture of leftover champagne from past championship celebrations, Voss + tears collected from fans of all the teams they eliminate in postseason play to achieve the most luscious, emerald hued grass in all of baseball.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) This years losses are much more draining than in past years. I'm not rooting for more of them. Even worse than 2007 IMO.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) He's ok. decent
