6/16 White Sox at Pirates
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) So they can stop pretending they have a playoff chance as soon as he goes down? My Sox spidey-sense has me thinking that (if that happened) in all likelihood, this team would probably string together 2-3 weeks of somewhat coherent baseball, purely to spite everyone (including the decision makers). -

6/15 at Pittsburgh Pirates

Sad that we've made it to the middle of June and this team remains as frustratingly inconsistent as ever. Go sweep the Astros, turn around and get swept by the Rays... I would actively despise this goddamn team if I had a job in the front office. -

I don't get that nauseous feeling when Danks starts that many do. It might not be pretty, but I think he gets the job done. -
Steve Trout on playing for both Chicago Baseball Teams
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I thought the bit about ownership towards the end was interesting. I know there are plenty of subscribers to the idea that the current ownership's supposed loyalty to it's own is a big part of the reason this team doesn't find itself making it out of the division at the end of the year. At the same time, there are probably positive things being done for which they don't get the recognition they should/get taken for granted. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) Canadian soccer took me way too long to get. Im heading up to stadium club to watch the sox and I was hoping they'd have the draft on too...but now I'm thinking it'll be all hawks. Ugh One way or another, it can't go any longer than 5 more. It will all be over soon, mercifully. -

I don't think this weather is sticking around, but there is the indoor Canadian soccer game scheduled for tonight too- haven't we seen the Sox postpone a game not too long ago because of "weather", with the real reason being another Chicago team playing in a higher profile sporting event? -
Meet the White Sox new emcee

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) No, Honda is the public address announcer. This is another one of those "appealing to young people" things. Yesss. More loud noises and hooligans that won't get off the lawn. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) He's hitting enough line drives that he should be better than this, some of these balls should be falling, but he's so far been a genuinely bad player. One thing that stands out is that he's hitting balls in the air but his home run rate has cratered. It's kinda hard to think that won't recover...but with his background its hard to guarantee anything. Oh, it'll recover; most likely when he's wearing another team's jersey. At least that's the way it feels.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Please, for the love of god, don't make Shuck a starter. Coming into the year, this is one of those posts that I didn't think I'd see one week into June.

**6/6 Game Thread for Sox vs p**** Cats**
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to Brian's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Happened to hear this statistical tidbit earlier: Sox have been outscored to the tune of 46-15 in the first inning. The English translation of outscored by opponents 46-15 in the first inning depending on what dictionary you're using is pretty fcking awful. However, Walk-Off HBP is my favorite way to win a baseball game, so I will continue watching in hope of seeing another one. If they clinch a playoff berth/series or win a championship via Walk-Off HBP, I'm tattooing a Sox logo on my face and moving to Wrigleyville. -

As a Bulls fan, I can't say that I hope this explodes in their face, but I hope Forman and Paxson are held accountable (on Christmas Eve, because it would be fitting) for letting a great Head Coach go if the immediate results (one season) don't make this look like a great move in hindsight. -

I really dislike it when fans bust into the 7 Nation Army bassline at sporting events. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Why would he say this before the game? What benefit is there to this? Isn't this what he guy from the Reds went bat s*** crazy over earlier this season? In Robins defense, everyone knows that it will be a CG shutout for Sale and he'll be buoyed by the machine that is the White Sox offense. -

In-season managerial changes a risk, BUT
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) In terms of wanting to enjoy the last four months of the baseball season, I'd happily take Herm Schneider as a choice, too. A female coach. A computer algorithm. A plant. An i-watch. The Bill Veeck idea of fans managing the team. Caesar from Planet of the Apes. Konerko from his house in Arizona via Skype. They can roll a cart with the tv onto the field for pitching changes and disputes with officiating. -

Glad for the early start. Just like a dentist appointment, best to get it out of the way rather than waste the whole day dreading the inevitable. I hate this damn team. -

QUOTE (LDF @ May 27, 2015 -> 07:31 AM) the owner's rep of not firing their cronies comes to mind. but this discussion, who is a good candidate to replace him in the interim. -
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ May 26, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) A couple of expensive busts....Carl Crawford, Josh Hamilton, Matsuzaka, Alfonso Soriano, Gary Matthews Jr, Barry Zito, BJ Upton to name a few. I don't know that I'd call Soriano an expensive bust. He didn't replicate the career year he had for Washington in 2006, and there was a big damn price tag attached to him, but that could have been a lot worse than it ended up being.

GAME THREAD 5/26: SOX @ TOR
Swingandalongonetoleft replied to cabiness42's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 26, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) That's great hustle by Abreu. Stupid small s*** like that done right makes all the difference in the world. One of my favorite things about Abreu is that he (probably the most legitimate home run threat on the roster) does this regardless of the situation. -

A knuckleballer against this legendary offense should be fun to watch.
