  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 06:42 AM) Second consecutive World Series for Peavy. PROVES WHAT A LEADER HE IS. The O-Cab of pitchers.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 15, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) They're going to have a long layoff between now and the World Series. I would be very nervous about that if I'm a Royals fan.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 10:25 PM) Ten postseason victories in a row for KC, going back to the last three games of the 1985 World Series. That, and their current win streak was spawned from a win over the Sox on the last day of the regular season. In a way, it almost feels like the Sox are a part of all this. Only half kidding.
  4. Chris Singleton has gotten pretty good at his job doing color for ESPN Radio's call.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) I would have extended Carlos Quentin in 2008 and am taking my lesson from what would have been a mistake. Among the most painful names in Sox lore.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Another player I would that I might get heat for is Alexei Ramirez. I'd give him a 2 year extension because I really feel that he's a player that if we want to contend, we need to have. Plus, I love Alexei. I would hear offers about him though, and if one blew me away, then I would do it if I were Hahn. I feel similarly. Sale and Abreu are in the prime of their careers, and I would like to have someone fairly dependable at SS while that is the case. There are other places on the roster that can and should be fiddled with.
  7. Shock of the century that this home plate rule is called to the stage in an NLDS elimination game with the Giants being one of the teams.
  8. This doesn't start until Friday? I hope both NLDS go to 5 in that case.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) Well they are the O's and it sounds like they are chanting O. That would be my guess It has been happening at Raven games for at least 2 seasons now.
  10. I really want to see Baltimore advance, however, is there a reason that the idiot fans insist on scream-humming the bassline of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes? There doesn't appear to be a specific in-game event that prompts it. Idiot Ravens fans also do this, I've noticed.
  11. So, that was one of the more ridiculous games I've seen. Not a bad start to the Playoffs.
  12. I would liked for Adam Dunn to be in the lineup, but putting the C with the best shot at muting KC's running game is a good idea to me. I think KC wins, though.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) Richard Justice ‏@richardjustice 17m17 minutes ago A's .433 (29-38) winning percentage since All-Star Break is lowest ever for a playoff team. Knowing that, they'll probably waltz right in to the World Series. Nothing would surprise me.
  14. Damn, thought they were both tonight. Excited nevertheless.
  15. American League Royals A's Orioles Tigers ISIS Angels National League Cardinals Pirates Nationals Giants Dodgers
  16. Very happy to have made it out to the park for this. Relieved that the house was as packed as it was, as it should have been for this sort of thing. The turnout actually seemed bigger than some of the more recent Cub/Sox games, even with the prestigious BP Cup of Glory at stake. Pretty damn remarkable that the guy who gifted Konerko with the Grand Slam ball wound up snagging a foul ball off his bat a little later.
  17. I had tickets for tonight via split season plan and summoned stubhub for (relatively cheap) Saturday/Sunday tickets. I ended up not making it out tonight, which was disappointing; I would have really liked to take in one last generic weeknight game because it would be closest to and most representative of the setting that I've watched Konerko play for the duration of his career. The next two games will likely be loaded up to the gills with all sorts of festivities (tonight's game had some too, but probably not the the degree that Sat/Sun will) and sentimentality. I look forward to it, but it won't be the same.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 21, 2014 -> 11:02 PM) How did I miss this? http://m.nydailynews.com/sports/football/r...1.1947343#bmb=1 Amazing. Just heard a clip on the radio. This is rich.
  19. Four Double Plays through 8 - not too shabby.
