  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 9, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) I believe him and his wife and child were driving on a country road in the dead of winter in North Dakota and they ran out of gas. He got out of his car to flag down other drivers, and he noticed a windshield scraper lying in the snow near a fence. Went to it, dug up the snow underneath, and found a briefcase full of money. Am I close? Very. A postage stamp design contest, Steve Buscemi, and a wood chipper were also involved to an extent.
  2. Classy. Too bad the Sox didn't plate 14 so Paulie could repay them with an equally classy gesture by lending it back for a few hours. But really, it was nice of the Cubs to do this. I'm sure somewhere down the line when HOF Starlin Castro is on his farewell tour, the Sox will return the favor by giving him something that has 13 written on it. A picture of Ozzie Guillen, maybe.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:31 AM) ...David Haugh column... I'm sad and disappointed every time I open the Tribune in the morning and see that he still gets paid to "write".
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 5, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) can we all chip in $5 to get it sponsored by soxtalk? This needs to happen.
  5. He's on the team for next year! QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) HES NOTHING LIKE ME!!!! Has he been keeping this up, or has it been limited to the nonsense in Colorado (hopefully)?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) One of my greatest moments was at Wrigley with 2 Cubs fans and another Sox fan to even it out, with 2 outs in the 9th. Cubs fans standing and cheering, Dempster closing, AJP at the plate....you can put it on the board, Sox lead. Not only did the Sox take the lead, but it was AJ who did it. It couldn't have been more perfect. Ah, this game was perhaps the crescendo of the entire history of Cubs vs. Sox. The stoppage in play that happened shortly after courtesy of Cubs fans "cherishing" their ballpark pretty much finished this rivalry in my eyes, in favor of the Sox. I was waiting for it to show up in any of the various 100 Most Memorable Wrigley Moments lists because while not a proud moment for the Cubs, I think it was pretty significant, but no such luck. Having said that, I enjoy catching a handful of games at Wrigley in any given season. I've come to love the park, and I enjoy being able to watch NL baseball in the same city as a change of pace. They're not my NL rooting interest, and I could do without them winning a World Series anytime soon, but I don't sit here hoping for 120 loss seasons. I absolutely can't stand the season-long interleague format. I hope it goes away, along with the extra Wild Card that came with it. It was fine the way it was.
  7. Texting Driver Who Slammed Cyclist: I, Like, 'Just Don't Care' Once upon a time, I would be 100% sure that this was bogus after reading that paragraph- but not anymore.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) SIGN ALL THE CUBANS!
  9. Awesome news to wake up to. Goddamn Ozzie's kids and their twitters.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) What's with the start time? Promotional? EST in Detroit
  11. I'm so happy that I wasn't able to get near a tv or radio for today's s*** show. I wish they would have just kept Floyd on some sort of incentive laden deal (despite the fact that he's not pitching until sometime in May). Atlanta didn't exactly open the vault to Fort Knox to get him.
  12. I just got a call from my ticket rep that the UD is closed and they're reassigning to 100 level.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) You have to wonder what the heck was going on with the person running that twitter feed at that time. It isnt like you can "whoops" post a picture. You have to select it, it shows you what is selected, then you post it. Somebody unhappy about the merger, perhaps?
  14. The rock was charged with obstruction of justice.
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:16 AM) Watched Django Unchained the other night. Just happened to catch it as it started on Showtime and kept watching. I was surprised how much I liked it. Usually with Tarantino movies there are certain scenes that I love but I don't like sitting down to watch the whole movie. Django is the one I found it hardest to sit through. I wanted to like it, some of those scenes were just too much for me (fight to the death scene and the various whippings). I've only seen it once, so I suppose I'll give it another spin. Pulp Fiction, on the other hand, is in my Mt. Rushmore of Films. I'll sit through that one even if I stumble upon some squeaky clean edited version w/ commercials on TBS or wherever. I saw The Winter Soldier last night, and I got a kick out of the Cemetery scene.
  16. Some lucky fan sitting in the bleachers.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) Cuban FRANK! Watch it or you might get tweeted at.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) http://www.theonion.com/articles/child-sho...ubs-suck,35749/ But now they have Emilio Shelton.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) http://radio.com/2014/04/07/failure-announ...-american-tour/ One of my top 5 bands of all time, me and 3 friends are going to see them at the Rave in Milwaukee Unfamiliar with them, but I'm sampling Fantastic Planet on Amazon right now, and I'm kind of liking what I'm hear.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) Outkast is arguably one of the top rap groups of all time, likely the top southern rap group of all time and when you listen to Aquemini/Stankonia/etc you realize just how far in front of the music they were. I am actually seeing them twice this year (Summerfest/Lolla) and we had considered going to Coachella just to see them. With very few exceptions, Outkast and Wu-Tang (Wu-Tang associated acts) is the only rap that ever sees regular usage on my iPod anymore. ATLiens and Aquemini are among my favorites from any genre. I wanted to see NIN, but wasn't going to pay lolmoney to do so just because it was at Lolla. Kindly enough, they're co-headlining with Soundgarden at Tinley Park this summer (7/24). It's a weird pairing, but I like both. I'm holding out hope that they also play a nearby venue that isn't as awful (like Alpine), but it's looking like that won't be the case.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) Tyler Flowers 1st in the AL in BA You broke my computer.
