  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) Well he may use it to sign Mello If a country band can get T-Mac to pitch for their minor league baseball team, then an MLB team drowning in dollars because they sold naming rights for a section of seats should be able to get meh-lo out to Arizona as a non-roster invitee at the very least.
  2. Heard them briefly touch upon this topic on the "Idiot & Bernstein Show" on my drive home. I'd imagine that will net a few participants that he might not have had prior to that.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) My yard is tiny, I bet sitting on riding mower with a cold one in a large yard is awesome. but the polices will come for you
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) AJP 3-run bomb against Dempster. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/play...b_tp350&v=2 QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) My Sox v. Cubs meatballism has long been vanquished, but Pierzynski clowning Ryan Dempster with a 3 run shot with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to pull the Sox ahead 8-6, followed by the Cubs' fandom kindly letting Sox fans savor the moment for a few extra minutes by throwing garbage onto their field and forcing a delay is one of the warmer sports memories I have. I actually think that in the long run, this moment served as a cherry on the sundae that was the 2005 Championship when it came to me outgrowing the standard Sox fan hostility toward Cubdom. Short of beating them in a World Series, or being the team that hands them a postseason contention eliminating loss, I can't think of too many things that can top a come from behind HR hit by AJ Pierzysnki (just a little over a month removed from the Barrett incident) with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th that resulted in Cub fans more or less taking a piss on their own front lawn.

  6. I'd imagine that if there are 3 possible venues (4 with Northwestern?) it wouldn't be in your best interest to rule one out right off the bat if you're trying to secure the most favorable terms for yourself. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Meh +1 send it back to canadia!
  7. Caught the tail end of OKC's righteous W in Miami- does ESPN have a woman sideline reporter that sounds exactly like Marv Albert, or was that just Marv Albert up to his old shenanigans?
  8. Really kind of The Indians to set aside an entire week to honor Jim Thome.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Hahn has mentioned he is worried about left handed pop in our lineup. Iggy Pop is left handed.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Eh Willie Nelson (and Kristofferson) was just sad. But I love Highwayman and that's probably the last time it will ever be played, so sometimes you tip your cap to a legend. They definitely don't make Country music like they used to. Actually, it's debatable whether they make Country music at all nowadays.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) Trent Reznor will probably not be invited to next years Grammys I remain happily oblivious to anything that happened apart from Daft Punk winning and an award show suddenly becoming a place that one can marry.
  12. Lawn Mower. I've often thought about using a leaf blower on some of the lighter snows that have so graciously been bestowed upon us (seemingly every day) this winter.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) There were 28 school shootings reported in 2013. Counting Purdue, there have been 7 so far in 2014, with schools in session for ~14 days. University of Phoenix enrollment ought to be through the roof.
  14. I kinda quickly scanned over the Trib Soxfest schedule and noticed that Frank was set to do a thing with "broadcasters Hawk Harrelson and Tom Paciorek" - Stoney is still in the booth, correct? Also listening to Larry Holmes on 670 with Coop and Todd Steverson right now. Coop is excellent.
  15. Whoever is on the Score right now brought this up- I didn't know there was a Spanish interview prior to the one everyone has heard 1 million times since Sunday, or about a commercial filmed beforehand that kind of feels like a prequel to all of the festivities. Prior to Erin Andrews Sherman interview, . . I would't be surprised at all if there was something to it. The tone of Andrews' followup question struck me as kind of curious to begin with, finding out about a nearly identical rant and a commercial filmed in advance that touches on some of those themes makes for some fun speculation.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 07:28 AM) Roy from "Shipping Wars". I sometimes watch this during the marathon time slots on History. Does Heather need a hug? http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/g...ticle-1.1584425 I'm trying to wrap my mind around what was said or done in the room that producers were able to successfully pitch a reality tv show about shipping to A&E.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Oh I know. I'm just saying, I think this kind of money for this pitcher is a huge mistake. Truth. Spread it out to address other needs and let someone else roll the dice-k . If it works out, congrats. If not, wouldn't wanna be ya.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 05:28 AM) Anyone else see that it looked like Berman wanted to cry after the game on ESPN? After the Kaepernick interview, he mumbled in sympathy, "He did real good." Turned the ball over 3 times in the 4th and was pretty average all year. Without their D, Colin is irrelevant. But yeah, Chris. He did real good. Didn't see this and didn't know that Boomah was a 49ers apologist- that's icing on the cake and a cherry on the sundae for me. I will have to seek this out so I can bask in it's splendor.
  19. Oh, Charlie Haeger too, although that was more a product of me thinking it would be cool to have a Wakefield-esque spot in the rotation than actually believing that he was Timmy 2.0 - think of all the verbal treasure the tv viewer would be treated to by Hawk as the number of passed balls per outing inevitably multiplied.
  20. Luis Terrero Nick Masset Adam Dunn Lastings Milledge Jose Quintana I thought they could have given Milledge some more time than they did. Also, I didn't think Chris Sale would be a realistic Cy Young Award candidate for any other reason than a fluke season (probably early on in his career before hitters figured him out or before a brush fire mistakenly attacked him), and certainly not more than once. I think he's coming off the second consecutive season that he was a legitimate contender, so I'm thrilled that I was nowhere near right about him.
  21. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) FWIW Rick Renteria already went out and bought Rosetta Stone Japense after meeting him. I heard this on the Score yesterday. Between this and the new mascot, it's a done deal. I can't wait to see the novelty t-shirts the street vendors come up with. Maybe some Cub fans still have their Fukudome headbands that they can reuse. I really wouldn't mind if the Sox weren't in the mix for Tanaka at all. I'm quite content with just the one foreign question mark they're throwing dollars and years at for now.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) That made my day.............my reaction the same Ditto. I also got a kick out of the nonchalant manner in which the anchorwoman describes the Pelican as a "deranged bloodthirsty clown that feeds...on children" - no doubt while still in disbelief and trying to recover from unleashing Clark onto their viewers.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) The Dylan Axelrod Experience is not necessarily over for White Sox fans. Didn't Jimi cut a well-regarded record about this?
