  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) Did Harrelson just give a "STRETCH!" call for those last two fly balls? Won't be long before grounders start getting the STRETCH treatment.
  2. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 11, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Has the majority of you given up on the season? Serious question. Yes.
  3. That's curious, he went on the bereavement list 4/23 and returned shortly after (4/26?) for his turn in the rotation. 2 weeks later- again?
  4. Without analyzing too much and just kind of eyeballing it- some of his more recent ABs won't blind you if you watch them, like many of the earlier ABs were capable of doing.
  5. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) I would just love it if some of LAA's personnel moves of the past couple of seasons blew up (literally and figuratively) in their face and took the entire team down. My level of dislike for this team that they've built themselves is on par with Red Sox teams of the last decade plus. I need to see them miss the playoffs, preferably finishing 10+ games out of their division lead and both Wild Card spots. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) Angels in danger of losing two in a row to Disastros, and in the process fall to 11 games under .500. I'm basking in this. My level of enjoyment is supreme.
  6. I can't imagine how Desmond Jennings must have felt immediately after that.
  7. I think the low point of the season for me came in the top of the 9th- no outs, bases loaded, and Konerko grounds into a double play, including the out at home. Cool that they won though, that's always excellent.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:17 AM) conventional doubleheader I wish there were more of these. My first Sox game(s) was a DH against Texas. I assume there is simply more money to be made by breaking it up into day/night, though.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) Dios mio! Yeah, I enjoyed that part of the clip when I heard it.
  10. Plane went down at an airshow in Spain today. A little too close for comfort for this group of people. (go to 2:00 mark)
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 4, 2013 -> 08:49 AM) the guy on the broadcast said she was and the kid seemed to acknowledge it Goodness gracious sakes alive.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 5, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) Alright guys, I know Quintana has been nasty today, but let's try to score more than 1 run. That would be no fun.
  13. Some of McNeil's opinions...Keep it, as he so often says. I'm very surprised that the article didn't turn into a Blackhawks slob job. You always hear people saying that Hawk is not a fun listen when things are going badly for his team- all he really does is not say anything. Mac is just about unbearable- and his job doesn't limit him to one team like Hawk's does.
  14. Wow. This is something special.
  15. There's no way that the woman in red is that little kid's sister. Also, my monitor kind of smells like a beach at low tide now.
  16. I've not read anything that definitively linked the two, but just about every account I've come across more or less suggests that they were related. The amount of medication that was undoubtedly pumped through his system over the duration of the illness probably wasn't a good thing for his liver when you consider that he probably wasn't one to ever turn away a drink. I’m not a doctor, but Necrotizing Fasciitis can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome, and TSS can shut down a liver, so there is that to speculate on as well.
  17. QUOTE (MEANS @ May 3, 2013 -> 06:31 AM) R.I.P. Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman This is devastating news.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 2, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) Someone beat you by 2 pages. Ah. Glanced through and didn't see.
  19. Here's a video of a 747 freighter stalling shortly after takeoff, presumably due to cargo shift- although that hasn't been confirmed. It happened at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan on Monday. The video is very intense, so heads up. Really frightening. Crew of 7- RIP.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 1, 2013 -> 11:21 PM) Or how many people moaned when the Sox signed him...? "We have to root for that douche?" I never understood that line of thinking, but there definitely was some of that going around. The only people that should be concerning themselves with whether or not AJ is an asshole are the ones who are on the field or in the clubhouse with him. Front office too, perhaps.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 05:24 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 2h New #WhiteSox outfielder Casper Wells will wear No. 39. Has worn 33, 45 and 53 this season with #Mariners, #BlueJays and #Athletics. Too many numbers for his fan club to keep track of.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) Really, the guy has no choice what to say if he's going to keep his job. That's why I don't quite understand the borderline hostility often thrown his way. How can it be expected of him to say ¡¡ROAR DIS TEAM SUX TAER IT DOWN!!!11one!!1eleventy!1 if that's not the message the top wants to promote? If someone turns in an inexcusable performance, he'll usually say it. He won't burn them down like some would like to hear, but what can you expect- Doug Buffone and Ed O'Bradovich? People have lost their jobs for doing just that in this very city. If I didn't listen to the pre/post and instead relied on a message board to draw conclusions, I'd probably think that this guy would apologize for the iceberg that sank the Titanic. Throw in some of the mouth-breathers that sadly own a telephone and undoubtedly have 670 on speed dial...
