  1. Wow. The first thing thought that came to me after I was done processing this development was how I'd love to see them miss the playoffs. Dodgers too. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) SATAN KNOWS NO AREA CODE
  2. I know he's been dealing with injuries during parts of recent years. I was thinking of him as a last resort sort of thing when there was still uncertainty about 3B post-Youkilis/pre-Keppinger. I'm not up to date on the bench or utility guys for next year- if there is an opening for that role and he's released, it wouldn't hurt to take a gander in his direction and see if he could fill it. He certainly wouldn't be much more than the 25th man on a roster at this point. If not, hopefully things work out for him and he finds a place somewhere. He's among my favorite Sox players.
  3. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 06:08 AM) Stones seemed indifferent to the whole thing. I thought so too. One could reasonably have assumed that The Stones would be at the top of their game seeing as they're right in the middle of all that 50 Year Anniversary stuff and getting a lot of exposure all over the place because of that. Their set was mediocre at best.
  4. 12-12-12 Concert is airing on ION at the moment. Ill lineup- Roger Waters, Eddie Vedder, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, and uh...Adam Sandler.
  5. What is this that Boers and Bernstein are teasing as "The Basketball Gods Smiling Upon the Bulls"? Edit: Probably just an article by Adrian Wojnarowski about Kevin Love not being happy in Minnesota...
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) Jake Peavy, Chris Sale, John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Jose Quintana, Hector Santiago, Simon Castro, Dylan Axelrod, Andre Rienzo, Nestor Molina (if you really want to stretch). That's hardly money in the bank after the first four names on that list. I know one of those guys- probably Quintana- is going to be counted on this year, but if Floyd does indeed get dealt somewhere and now you're entrusting 2 spots of the rotation to Quintana and one of the others- Sakes alive....
  7. Sorry to hear about this. Prayers to you and your family.
  8. Wasn't exactly a Youkilis fan before the Sox acquired him (because of the Red Sox), but watching him single-handedly account for multiple wins immediately after he got to Chicago was great fun. That said, glad to see someone other than the Sox will be paying him millions while crossing their fingers that he doesn't break him down. The Sox were very fortunate to get what they got from him for so little. Also glad I won't have to hear YOOOUUUUKKKK at The Cell anymore. That got old, fast (like before it even started).
  9. At this point I'm going down with the Beckham ship if that's what ends up happening. I'd rather just see it out to the end, even if it means getting nothing for him. I still think he can pull it together, and yes, I'm aware that he's had ample time to do it. One way or another, at least you can be happy about his glove...
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale The #Yankees, but not GM Brian Cashman, quietly running background check on Josh Hamilton, rival GM says Should be a good read when he gets that back.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) You know what Detroit needs? Economic growth.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) I adore Bane's voice, and find it to be just the right amount of creepy and different. That trilogy is my favorite trilogy in history. From the very first time I heard that voice, I couldn't get over how much it sounded like Sean Connery. It's awesome. Bane as a villain grew on me. I was a little underwhelmed by the choice leading up to the first time I saw the film, and even after my first viewing, but it was well done and pretty memorable.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) As anti as I am about them getting in, I would like to see a display of the steroid era or even expanded to notorious players. Don't ignore it, acknowledge it. Mention the players and their accomplishments. It would be an exhibit, but the players would not be HoF members. Would the pro Rose and Bond find that acceptable? I think Rose gets in posthumously. I'm not a gambler, but I don't think it's serious enough to warrant the kinds of consequences it does. I wouldn't be surprised if there are dozens of other things being done to hurt the integrity of the game that aren't talked about, and therefore not penalized.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) I love that Cherington cleared all that salary in the Dodgers mega-deal and then spends a big chunk of it on two average free agents. What a waste of f***ing money, but I guess that's what happens when you try to rebuild in free agency. This. I own a Dodgers cap that I wasn't sure was ever going to be worn again after they presented Boston with a Get Out of Jail Free card. Of all teams, Boston.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 Hear exclusively Alex Rodriguez was playing with re-tear in surgically repaired hip Likely going for another surgery #Yankees (cont) A-Rod will miss at least piece of '13. Hope is surgery will allow for successful player again for #Yankees So #Yankees now dealing with both Jeter and eventually A-Rod coming back from surgery. Desperately need left side IF help The elixir in Mariano Rivera's "Fountain of Youth" seems to be going dry as well.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) if adam dunn tried to behead abu nazir he'd swing n' miss. abu nazir is very elusive Amazing
  17. I thought it was good, but not as good as the first two Daniel Craig movies. It seems to be getting outstanding reviews, but I just don't see it.
  18. I love cheap movie theatres. I was bored Saturday, so I went to go see Dark Knight Rises while it's still being shown. Large Slushee and the ticket itself- $5. Surprisingly full house for a 6 month old movie that's about to hit stores as a DVD/Blu-Ray. Also actually grew more fond of the movie.
  19. He's clearly going to throw a complete game one-hit shutout the first time he's presented with the Sox lineup. He'll also probably have 5+ ERA at the end of the season, should he make it that far.
  20. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) Span gone, Raburn gone and possibly Bruce Chen. This is already a pretty decent offseason even without any Sox moves. Hahn on the fast track for 2013 Executive of the Year award.
  21. QUOTE (59th street @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) I do not want to defend the Marlin ownership (Loria, et al) but he WAS smart enough to refuse to give anyone a No Trade clause. It's true that anyone unhappy with their cup of coffee-esque time in Miami has primarily themselves and their agent to blame, but I think (and hope) that this tidbit will be noted a little more closely by anyone kicking around the idea of signing with the team. Loria is a s***-bird. I feel bad for the fish he signed to swim in those backstop aquariums.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) Those were all guys that were actually busted though. My point was that there are very rarely "whispers" about pitchers, like there are about hitters. Everybody hints that Sosa, Gonzalez, Brady Anderson, etc. were probably juicing. But pitchers aren't talked about like that, probably because it's so much harder to quantify the effect has steroids have for a pitcher. I think there was plenty of speculation about some of those guys before they did actually get caught . I don't think anyone was buying what Roger Clemens was selling, for example. I would be stunned if some of the names that made it out of the game without getting caught were indeed clean.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) How is a guy going to get out of a slump if he doesn't play?
