  1. Keep him, start him. If this is what he ends up being, you could still do worse for a bottom of the order bat that moonlights as a gold glove on defense. I don't think this is what he ends up being, and despite all the time he's been given to come around offensively (unsuccessfully, for the most part), he will eventually get it. That reads like crazy talk when you consider his age, but stranger things have happened.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:12 AM) i couldnt make flat tires rhyme Brett Myers
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Peavy is not going to be here next year. Isn't it pretty much a given that they're going to thumb their nose at his eleventy billion dollar option and try to offer him something a bit more reasonable? I don't have anything against Jake in a Sox uniform, but this 1 healthy and productive year of his hasn't made anyone forget the amount of time he missed in the years prior. He's got to be willing to take some sort of 1 year deal if he ever wants anyone to throw more years and more zeroes at him in the future. I don't trust the Quintanas/Stantiagos/Humbers to grab the remaining 2 spots of a Sale/Danks/Floyd rotation. The 3 of them can compete for the 5th spot.
  4. Santiago fun to watch so far. Shin Soo Choo's walkup music is Gangnam Style. Obvious.
  5. That's excessive. He earned his way out of a job here, rightfully, but some of the anger being directed at him borders on absurdity. I must have missed the part where he ran over everyone's dogs.
  6. ^ Hawk tweets? The only thing that would happen if Guillen joined the booth is that there would be a lengthier tape delay, and one or both of them would get fired- probably like 2 innings into the first Spring Training broadcast. A Hawk/Ozzie booth would be something that I could see Bill Veeck trying. As he's no longer in a position of power with the Sox, or alive, the closest thing to that we'll ever see is if Fox hires him for comic relief during the Postseason again.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) Where did Addison Reed's "plus" fastball go? Into the gap to score the two guys he walked earlier.
  8. He gets a hit he's getting pinch run for. Hope he does.
  9. Listening to the Tigers broadcast. Stomach did turns when the topic of playoff rotation came up.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniSox @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) I wonder how Ed Farmer and Stoney would work together. The year before Stone joined Hawk in the tv booth, he was with Farmer on the radio. They're two similar personalities, and it worked out great. In that one year, Stone was probably able to throw more out there about the game than in his entire time alongside Hawk.
  11. Yaz mention- it's a nationally televised game and Hawk is nowhere in sight. Can of Corn reference- it's a nationally televised game and Hawk is nowhere in sight.
  12. I'll remember the last few weeks of this season when the cardiovascular system starts acting up sometime in the not too distant future.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) That crowd gave me hope again. It should be noted that it was Hispanic Heritage Night and Fireworks at the Cell tonight, and that probably played a part in some extra seats being filled, but it's nice to see nevertheless.
  14. 2 strikes and 2 outs in the inning and I'm still praying for a storm to appear and rain the game out.
  15. With the cartoon character that is Hawk, it's tough to pair him with someone like Stone. Listening to the Paciorek games this year it's pretty obvious that another cartoon character*, or at least one who plays along with one- would work best with Hawk. Stone was great with Farmer. That was as good as it's going to get- in ways better than Rooney with Farmer. I thought it was unfortunate that they felt the need to waste his contributions by pairing him with Hawk. At the end of the day, it's too bad that it looks like Hawk and Stone can't stand each other. People are people, so things like this are liable to happen anywhere, but there's something about it that puts a damper on the mood when it's in your team's booth. I'm trying to come up with a comparison, and I keep coming back to ruining Santa for a kid. Not entirely accurate, but it's getting there. I'd like to see Stone stick around, he's great. *I don't really say cartoon character as an insult (as slamming Haek seems to be the thing to do the moment the Sox conceded first place)- it's just probably the most accurate way to describe him. Caricature, maybe...
  16. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) Wellp might as well enjoy the last couple days of White Sox baseball before what is going to be a really long offseason. It definitely will be, but at the same time, I'm intrigued with some of the teams that will likely continue playing into October this year. Should be fun to watch.
  17. That ball was well on it's way out of the park the moment Stone mentioned Longoria was 0-3
  18. Sweet Home Alabama playing him off the field a farewell to Peavy?
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) I missed the open, where's Hawk? Did White Sox baseball kill him? He turned to the bottle.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxNews @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) With Detroit win, the WhiteSox must pull one off tonight as well. What are your thoughts?
