  1. I don't hold the Cub hate that Sox fans are known to hold (and vice versa). I used to, but I got over it. They're not my team, I don't actively root for them unless they're playing the Sox or Phillies, but I'll go to a handful of games and watch or listen to them if that's whats on. I'd rather watch them than the Bears, Bulls, Fire, Rush, Sky, Bandits, and Blackhawks combined. Maybe not the Bulls, but definitely the other.
  2. Walking into the park yesterday, there was a funereal atmosphere hanging over the place before a single pitch was thrown. The 1-2 punch of Detroit coming back to tie KC being displayed on the out of town scoreboard, and Omogrosso coming in to do his thing cemented that. Just like an animal, they're going to find a quiet, secluded place away from everything and go die there. Progressive Field in this case.
  3. No matter what ends up happening in these last few days of this season, getting the Adam Dunn that the Sox thought they signed going into 2011 has been awesome.
  4. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) I used to love listening to Santos's radio broadcast when Cubs were losing in the playoffs. I'd originally tune in for that same reason, but I grew to enjoy their call over time. Now that he's gone- I miss hearing him call games with Pat, regardless of whether they were losing or not.
  5. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) Tonight is Dog Day and I'll be there. My dog is 3-0 in US Cellular Field attendance. So tonight looks good. Every day since September 19th has been dog day. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 06:01 AM) Tampa ugh.
  6. A heads up for anyone interested- you can get UD tickets for Wednesday's game for 90 cents on Stubhub. The download fee and service fee get tacked on at the end so in actuality it's about $10, but this is pretty much the crescendo of the regular season.
  7. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) Yea, or hearing Chris Berman in '05 against the Red Sox - "Oh no!" It should be noted that the 2005 ALDS was a national broadcast being called by a Red Sox groupie.
  8. It's almost comical how biased he is, but I don't see anything wrong with that. If I want neutrality I'll go to Sweden. Not sure why Stone's name got dragged into the headline, though. That said, Ron Santo is dead- but even at this very moment he's probably more biased than Hawk. When all is said and done, this is about the extent of what he'll be remembered for, and you get the feeling that it's kind of what he wants.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) All I know is every day is a struggle for me...I can hardly watch the games...in fact, I've been going out and following along on my phone just to avoid having to watch them many nights. This is one hell of a nervewracking final month... I was down in Atlanta Sat/Sun. The only way to keep up with the clown contest that is the AL Central race was through my phone, and I had limited battery/charging opportunities. It was probably the equivalent of someone who suffers from chronic insomnia being able to get the most peaceful sleep of their lives. I stopped paying attention to it yesterday after I saw Detroit lost the first game, and didn't even check to see how the Sox did or how Detroit's second game went until after I got back home. It made it a little easier to accept getting swept because the LAA series terrified me coming into it and my expectations were low. Two Detroit's L's yesterday also helped soften the blow. When I think about this division race, I hear that Benny Hill music or the loser sound drop from The Price is Right.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) I have to ask, have the Sox ever "not stopped" after Hawk says dont stop now boys?! I don't think I've ever seen it. I think it was on Hit & Run with Rozner and Spiegel that they brought that up, and I think either one of them, or a caller to their show actually started keeping track of this.
  11. Garpax/Paxman was what came to mind for me as well- on another JR team. The news isn't as surprising, the timing is.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) It always seems like when you intentionally walk the bases loaded, bad things happen. Bad like a 5 run inning?
  13. Hawk nonchalant about doubles. Only gets up for warning track shots.
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I have a feeling we are going to shell Chen tonight. If they do, it would be the fourth straight start of Chen's that he gets lit up, with the Sox laying claim to two of those starts.
  15. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) I wasn't trying to be a dick FWIW. No, I know. MO is the one I meant to post, so I'm glad someone gave me a heads up.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) There is a Kansas City in both states, but the one that is larger and the one that has the baseball and football stadiums is the one in Missouri. Yeah, but in this case I intended to post the financial analysis of KC, MO.
  17. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) KC is in MO, not KS. Thanks for catching that. I feel dumb.
  18. Chris Sale (17-6 2.78) v. God Damn It. (10-12 5.42) Devin Hester Dante Hall Hmmm... Not saying, just saying.
