  1. I suppose 1 and 2 out saves are better than coming into the game in the 8th for a 4 out save...
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) Interesting. Didn't look hurt Looks like his appeal didn't work out after all.
  3. v. Gavin Floyd (9-10 4.59) v. Luke Notbrucechen (8-13 5.46) -Sweep of the Minnesota Twins,+1 to Sox lead on Tigers after fat potato blows a save on Sunday. -Managing to split last week's 4 game series against the Tigers...this week. +1 to division lead. Conditions are ripe for a bit of a letdown, so naturally, Kansas City occupies the next 3 squares on the Sox' calendar. Hopefully they build on these past few days and don't look back (making sure not to get too comfortable at the same time).
  4. Extra emphasis needed to be put on Owens and González in order to adequately convey their level of baddity (awfulness).
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 05:54 AM) ...would have played Go Cubs Go had they won. To this day, science hasn't been able to develop a pair of earplugs capable of drowning out that song. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) Ah, I was trying to remember if I was there, but I was there in 07 to witness Darin Erstad. It's funny how the mind works. Without even trying, Darrin Erstad, Jerry Owens, Jerry Owens, Andy González, Jerry Owens, Andy González, Alex Cintron, Luis Terrero, Andy González, and Jerry Owens all seem to have been wiped from my memory. What an awful group of people that was. To think that they were all part of the same 25 man roster...that's impressively bad.
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) Opening Night 2006 for the Sox? Yeah- 3 hour rain delay. It was the only game on the schedule that night IIRC, and nationally televised, which added to the experience. 38,000+ were packed for the banner ceremony, but when play finally resumed after the delay, there were only a few in attendance scattered here and there. Thome hit one out after play resumed, and I remember how weird it was to hear the fireworks echoing off of the empty seats in the ballpark.
  7. ^ I was perusing espn.com on my phone and noticed that it was showing bottom of 3 at 11:40. I thought that had to be wrong, but I guess not. It would have been a fun game to attend. Being at a ballgame at WTF o'clock is great stuff. Sox Opening Night 2006 was one of the more memorable games I've been to because of how late play resumed after the rain delay, and how empty the park was.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) There were a lot of homeless Tigers fans there. Probably still in from last week since they don't have jobs to get back to. How they get the tickets is a mystery. Touch 'em all!
  9. QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) The win takes the edge off, but that was a STUPID decision by Dewayne. (Hesitant to use his surname after that play) Just use Weiss instead.
  10. Doug Fister (9-8 3.49 ERA) v. Jose Quintana(6-4 3.52 ERA) Tigers didn't look too happy yesterday. Hopefully that was the beginning of an unraveling, not some sort of rallying point that inspires them to steamroll through these last few weeks.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Is that some sort of joke? Blondes are a bad cliche. If you're a pro athlete, have a few zeroes before the decimal point on your paycheck, and somehow still ended up with a blonde, then you've done a bad job and there's no two ways about it. I would scrutinize this detail if I were the GM negotiating Danks' next long term deal.
  12. Picked up a ticket on Stubhub last Thursday for $1.99 hoping it would get rained out and rescheduled. Wouldn't actually have been able to attend the game had it been played that day, but between the Bears game and the weather, tickets were pretty much being given away. Quite pleased with how things shook out.
  13. Apart from Baddison Reed, this has been such an easy series to watch.
  14. ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ Jake "Itsonlyafleshwoundijustwannabeouttherewiththeboyscompeting" Peavy (10-11 3.27) v. Scott "Cubic-Zirconium" Diamond (11-7 3.46)
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/hitlist/...date=2012-09-13 Max Scherzer's ERA by month: 7.77, 4.04, 3.86, 3.62, 2.25, 1.23 RIODSSSS!!1one! I heard a black MLB helicopter landed in the Tiger's dugout on Thursday but the league declined to comment. The boxcar children tried to find out but no one has seen them since last week. Leyland had something to do with it, they found an unfinished copy of the report they were writing for SI in his van.
  16. That was nearly a disaster. As it played out, it may be a blessing in disguise depending on who gets called out there the next time there's a save situation.
  17. QUOTE (Skipper @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) I wish Thornton would have movement on his fastball or develop another pitch. A knuckleball at this point.
  18. Nice of Robin to casually take the ball. I would have gone to the mound and just pointed to the dugout until he took his s*** off the field.
  19. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Orlando finally contributed to this team.....yesssssss He's just as terrified as we are of Reed closing with a 2 run lead.
  20. v. Francisco Liriano (5-11 5.37) Samuel Deduno (6-3 3.55) Francisco Liriano is tasked with restoring his team's honour by avenging a no-hitter that the Twins threw against the White Sox at US Cellular Field in 2011.
