  1. Solid approach with the bases loaded and none out. Would have been something to talk about if it weren't for the 5 spot.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) Very funny. Ah, I jest. Not much else to do when Emirel is in the midst of his best Bruce Chen impersonation against the Sox lineup.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) Nice to see that our bank of hackers don't know what constitutes a strike. They should have been teachers.
  4. v. Francisco Liriano (5-11 5.37) Chris Sale (16-6 2.88) at Esmeralda Vasquez (0-1, 9.35) Sox take a temporary break from padding Detroit's Win column to visit the final resting place of Brett Favre's career.
  5. Doug Buffone and Ed O'Bradovich postgame shows are the truth like Jesus. I'm trying to imagine how it would be if they were in the booth for Sox games. My word.
  6. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Got some Steel Reserves in the fridge. Figured the finale called for a High Gravity Lager. That stuff tastes like leaded gasoline, but it's an excellent choice on a day that they face Verlander and the possibility of having lost 6 of the last 7 to the team chasing them.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) Bracing for the potential disaster of a Bears loss to the Packers and the Sox hitting flush on the season for good and losing. Kind of hoping Part A happens. People are getting carried away (ever so slightly) about a 1-0 team that got the opportunity to open the season against a franchise that pretty much started from scratch and threw a rookie QB for his NFL debut like 37 seconds after he got drafted on top of that (and still threw for 300+ yds). All of this because what...? Because they picked up Marshall and in doing so reunited the *two-time Super Bowl winning* QB-WR combo from when they played together in Denver? *Edit* Zero-time Super Bowl winning QB-WR combo from when they played in Denver.
  8. Another beautiful late summer morning, perfect for dotting the i in Detroit on Delmon's jersey with a fastball. It doesn't even need to be during one of his at-bats.
  9. I saw the Prince HR from my seat like 5 minutes before he hit it. A Tigers fan sitting near me told someone that he hasn't seen Fielder get a hit in person. I thought about leaving my seat right then to get a head start on bathroom/concession lines instead of dealing with it between half-innings. Between Leyson and myself, 0-2.
  10. I think today would be a very nice day to watch Delmon Young get hit by a pitch.
  11. Sophomore in High School on my way to a second period English class. A buddy passed by and asked if I heard about a plane crashing into WTC. I hadn't, and I assumed it was either a small personal craft or a helicopter. Shortly afterwards it became apparent that it wasn't quite that. Our school isn't too far from Fermilab, so as one would expect in the midst of what was happening- someone pointed that out and like a bad game of telephone, it snowballed into Fermi is a target of one of the planes that were still unaccounted for at that time.
  12. What a display by Quintana. That was a thing. Beckham going yard was nice exclamation point. Foundation is in place, now build upon it. Has anyone else noticed how tense the IF looks when they're turning a double play lately?
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) Is that the Razzies of broadcasting? They take the mic and headphones that he uses and plate it with gold, which would be nice, but redundant since over the course of the season, the mic and headphones he used gradually underwent some sort of chemical reaction on their own and became pure gold. Alchemists were at a loss for words.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) If it's NOT Reed, who will they actually use? It BETTER not be Phil Humber, that's all I am saying. I don't think I could take another 9th like that Mariners game. Come quick, rain.
  15. Hard to choose between one and two. That said, if the Sox drop three more games in a series to Detroit a little over a week after dropping three games in a series to Detroit...
  16. Ed Farmer is a finalist for the National Baseball Hall of Fame's 2013 Ford Frick Award (excellence in broadcasting).
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) ADA Youk D-Weezy PK14 Rios AJP Tank dh Alexei Beckham Q Every player in bold should be laying bunts down the 3B line all series long. You would dare temper the strike of the Mjölnir DeWayne Wise wields against incoming fastballs?
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) Well this is just ignorant. It's half price night, tickets upstairs are already FACE at 7, 11, and 13 bucks. Why should they be $50 on stubhub? Wasn't aware of the 1/2 Price Promo, but that's ok. Tickets for a game that would very much be in-demand on the other side of town aren't selling even after they're marked half off. If the Sox sold out the park and there were still fans that wanted to come out to the park, prices on Stubhub would reflect the demand despite what face value was. Not sure what was ignorant about that. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are cheap as dirt as well- no 1/2 Price Promo. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Because the game should be sold out and impossible to buy a "face" ticket for. The point is he looked on stubhub for prices and was somehow surprised - there's a pretty good reason they are that low. It was as Jenksy Cat said. The surprise was about the availability and lack of demand for tickets to four home games that will decide the outcome of the season.
