  1. Have tickets for Wednesday. Took a quick gander at Stubhub to discover $7 tickets for tomorrow (500 level). Thats hilarious, because this is pretty much a playoff game. If the defibrillators I ordered on Amazon for this week get here in a timely fashion, I might just have to buy. Beer costs more than that at a ballpark. I'm not one to bring up attendance, but you can rest assured that if the Cubs were in the Sox' position- up two games on the closest division rival with 3 weeks to go in the season- the s***tiest seats in their park would be going for around $50 and your firstborn child.
  2. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 12:29 AM) If the playoffs started today the Sox would play the Orioles... No thank you. It sucks, cause I think it's fun to finally watch the O's bring the ruckus in the American League Boston and New York Division(ALBNYD). If this Sox team makes it into October intact, New York looks like a happier place than Baltimore.
  3. They definitely meant lights. And there's definitely a guy on KC whose parents didn't know how to spell Brian. Oh for a closer that could pitch through a defensive misplay behind him.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) meh, from the replay it looks like he simply lost in in the sun. I was there today, it was tough, not a cloud in the sky, which isn't really tough, it's actually great! I'm replaying the 9th on mlb.tv right now- I could have sworn that whoever was calling the game on FOX seemed sure of himself that it was lost in the lights. Either he meant sun, or I misheard him. I can't say for sure because once the ball landed on the ground I was too preoccupied with rotflmao.
  5. It's huge to pick up a game on the Tigers on a day that Verlander started and the Sox faced Bruce Chen.
  6. Nice job by CJ Wilson, leaving with a 6-1 lead at the top of 8. I'll be sure to send any friend or relative looking for a new car to his dealership that I keep hearing about on the Score.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) How many iffy outings in a row did Santiago have before he lost the job? More than he should have.
  8. That's probably as fast as a Sox closer threw a strike to a batter after a defensive mistake in like 3 years.
  9. Addison, pretend that never happened please.
  10. Not too happy when I see Reed on the mound lately, but especially if it's not a save situation. If this is what he's going to be, whoever he's talking to when it comes time to sign him can just point the browser to www.gasbuddy.com and submit that team's zip code to speed things up. Until then, luckily, he's a controllable player with a supposed upside (and, well- a rookie in all fairness to Reed)- Kenny goes after guys like that all the time after they get dropped by other teams.
  11. Lineup tomorrow ought to be based entirely on who has the fewest at-bats against Chen in a White Sox uniform.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) ERA almost over 5, BAA around .325 since the ASB for Reed Hopefully no one is lighting a cigarette anywhere near the mound when he's on it.
  13. Way to throw your closer into a non-save situation. Awful.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Youk and Dunn off, even after an off day? That's odd. They're, you know... appealing. Am I correct in assuming this would wind up as the nightcap of a split double-header tomorrow if not? I left home in the morning aware of scattered rain, but now it looks like the day after tomorrow is coming right for Chicago on weather.com.
  15. QUOTE (Steve Stone @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 02:15PM) Walk Billy Butler Steve Stone thinks outside of the box so much, that if he wanted to return his thoughts to the store, they wouldn't let him because he very clearly removed them from inside the box.
  16. QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) Not interested in Springsteen at all. Make no mistake about it, this is my position as well- but clearly, yet inexplicably there isn't a shortage of Springsteen fans in the world, and I would imagine they might appreciate paying half of what admission was just a month earlier.
  17. A heads up to anyone interested- Don't know if it's because of weather or because he is truly an awful man, but Bruce Springsteen and his xylophone are performing at Wrigley tonight and tomorrow night (9/7-9/8). It looks like prices on Stubhub have plummeted- some are in the ballpark of $40 (as opposed to $100-ish a few months ago). Wrigley is a great place to catch a show, and it's getting to be cheap enough that one might consider attending just to say they did.
  18. Any ideas on how Robin can trick his entire locker room into thinking they're playing the Mariners or the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics instead of KC despite what the schedule and the opposition's jerseys say? QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 05:52 AM) I'll be the one in the green hat. Bring your green hat!
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) If its true it started on a Tigers message board, I think we do know the whole story. ...that there is s*** else to do in America's very own third-world city other than to collectively hold your breath that Matthew Stafford doesn't fall apart, watch the Canadians go about their curious way of life from across the river, and start rumors about rival athletes on internet message boards?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Huh? Is this something going on right now on radio or is there something in that last article/quote that you're reading but I don't get? Nothing- it's just the impression I got from when they quickly touched on it at the beginning of the show based on listening to the guy regularly for a long time. It's probably exactly what flavum wrote, we don't know the whole story, and maybe never will.
  21. Spiegel sounds like he thinks he knows better but can't outright say it because MLB shot it down for the moment, so he's begrudgingly dismissing it. It's the same tone of voice he would use when Cowley regularly guested on his show and said something that he vehemently disagreed with, but didn't bother pursuing it because he felt like it was't worth the trouble, there was no convincing him otherwise.
  22. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) this dbag caller already phoned in, telling the score that the NY radio stations are already discussing this story as being true once mully told the guy "well we can only report on what we've been told", the guy starts interjecting opinions "WELL IF THE GUY IS 35 AND HAVING A CAREER YEAR, IF YOU HAVE A BRAIN IN YOUR HEAD" yadda yadda yadda It always makes for a fun listen when you can vividly and accurately picture how a caller looks based on the 15-20 seconds that they're on the air.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 05:10 AM) according to mully and hanley this morning, MLB has flat out denied that this story has any truth to it they did not issue a "no comment" or "can't confirm/deny" statement, Mike Mulligan said they flat out called it false FWIW No Sox game on the schedule today, but if this holds, it would be as sweet as a taking both games of a doubleheader against the Tigers. Would be a fitting end to this if he went out and hit some long ones tomorrow.
