  1. I'm not going to lie, a part of me kind of misses watching games in that s***-hole. ...Apart from that whole "Guaranteed Sox loss" dealio that came with it, that is.
  2. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Williams, meanwhile, said reports that left-hander John Danks could face season-ending surgery "was news to me". KW must get his newspapers delivered via carrier pigeon. See ya next year, John Danks.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) A part of me would love to see them lose just to shut them up. Taking a quick gander at some of the names on the roster, it's completely up in the air whether or not we would hear more from them if they lost (officiating, not our time zone, X Files style conspiracy theories), than if they won.
  4. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) It also irritates me to hear some of the NBA players think they are as good as the original Dream Team. Chance in hell on that one. I vividly remember watching the original Dream Team. I was really young at the time, but that team- as far as I can recall- was my introduction to sports. I know that you can't really expect to hear anything other than "we would beat 'em", because that's how athletes operate, but I wouldn't mind seeing this current team get bounced the hell out of there early by a team like Burkina Faso or ancient Egypt.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) This is funny no matter what you think of the summer olympics. http://deadspin.com/5928972/the-haters-gui...summer-olympics Some great stuff.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) Why didn't I know about this before hand? Here you go. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=22802553 I can think of a few ways that could have been better. The Pierzynski/Humber/Konerko video is awesome.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Right. But he said "anything", which means he thinks Ryan "f***ing" Dempster is a worthless player. Anything of worth. I wouldn't be opposed to giving them a Stewart/Lillibridge-esque package. I don't think Dempster is great to begin with. Throw him in the AL on a team with realistic playoff hopes and how does he react? His free agency push has been made- I don't think teams will necessarily hold it against him if he stumbles in the last two months of the season after being traded from a team that he's been with for the past eight years. His playoff history isn't exactly sparkling either. Two appearances (the first being 1 IP in relief), 0-1, 6.35 era. The trade deadline approaches, and they're having a bit of a tough time moving him. They have nothing to gain by keeping him. I'm not saying it definitely wouldn't work out, just that I'm having difficulty envisioning Ryan Dempster being the piece that pushes the Sox over the top. He does do a Harry Caray impression, though- if you've ever watched a Cubs game on FOX you should be well aware of this. Maybe he can work on a Doug Fister after 7/30/11 impression if and when he's traded.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) s***, I'm as cynical as they come. But if brother quinarvy has faith, I shall have faith. Alex Gordon is doing pretty good for himself lately. It's amazing, because it felt like he was bound for the KC scrap heap just 2 or 3 seasons ago.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) Also, I'm still bitter that he's gone. I wanted him to be a Sox forever, he was my favorite. I've been trying to pretend he retired....the sportscenter will show me some fat guy wearing a Buehrle Marlins jersey Yeah, it's tough, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Sarah Kustok is leaving CSN as well. The times they are a-changin'.
  10. Buehrle's last game on the Sox was one of the weirdest I can recall attending. Such a weird feeling in the air between that and Cooper managing. I would gladly welcome him back.
  11. I'm not one for them, but a heads up to anyone that had Snoop Dogg in any death pools they might be in.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) Six Women Rape Man To Death OK, nothing funny about death, but this pic accompanying the article... Just wow.
  13. I would hate to be a fan of the team that is competing for a playoff spot, so the GM obliges Theo & Friends and gives anything of worth up for Ryan f***ing Dempster.
  14. Meh. The picture Farmer paints with his words is better than an actual picture.
  15. Glory. Had to sell on Stubhub because of work. This worked out nicely.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) Dunn has 65 games to hit 20 more bombs to become the first Sox player to ever hit 50. Can he do it? Taking into account his contributions in 2011, there ought to be a parade with balloons and confetti if he does.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) A large part of me wonders if selling high on Quintana isn't a good idea right now. Yes. This is what I want to see, whether they're going for it or not. Just not for a rental.
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) He has a oblique problem. I hate it.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 03:17 AM) 37,778 First sellout of the season. Really makes you think about Fenway or Citizen's Bank Park and how ill their respective consecutive sellout streaks are. Red Sox: roughly 750 games White Sox: roughly 750 minutes
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Pittsburgh Should have just stayed in Chicago. Probably wouldn't have even needed the CGI for this scene. A penny saved is a penny earned.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Saw an interesting point elsewhere: In the other movies, we saw and heard more from the people of Gotham. In this one, they were almost entirely background extras. The way they react to the Joker's plot to blow up the barges and Bane's plot is also 180* different. That would be one of those details that gave the movie a different feel, but I couldn't pinpoint the reason after one viewing. I'd imagine that this can at least partly be attributed to it's 3/4 of a month running time.
  22. I'm not out of shape, but I'm pretty sure I would have passed out once or twice if I attempted to hold that note as long as whoever this is that sang the Anthem.
