  1. Somehow managed to miss this joyless news until right now. Damn it.
  2. Machado has long since struck me as being an unlikable jackass. I guess it was easier to overlook when he was condemned to play for Baltimore.
  3. That was intense. Glad we're rebuilding, because that would have shorn years off the end of my life if the Sox were involved.
  4. Hell of a shit decision by Bud Black. Well, hasn't gone swimmingly so far, at least.
  5. This is the first time I've seen Buehrle's No Hitter since I was lucky enough to be there. Forgot that Thome homered twice. Edit: They cut it off in favor of showing James Shields pitch.
  6. Very sad to see the end of an era. It was tough watching Hawk fall apart, especially after they came back from break for the final time. I'm grateful the organization had the foresight to ease fans into the new guy over the past two (three?) seasons. It will still be very weird to not hear the voice I grew up with call games. Glad I was able to tune in to hear him call one last winner on Friday. Thanks for the memories.
  7. Dear White Sox, This has been a magical week. You're almost there! Please do not fuck this up. Kindest Regards, SAALOTL
  8. This is a general question. Half of the league is seemingly rebuilding, or on the verge of hopping on that bandwagon. How is the Sox rebuild special? Cubs, Rays, Astros rebuilds are always pointed to as examples of successful rebuilds- but they were ahead of the curve. Now everyone is doing it.
  9. I know if it's going to tear, it's going to tear- but how would a year of control be lost if he hadn't been called up yet and this had happened while he was still in Charlotte?
  10. Just heard about this on the way home from work. Wow. Hopefully, he really got a lot developmentally out of the 7 whole (rain soaked) innings he was up here. I know no one was planning for this, or wanted it- but this is like the nightmare version of the reason a lot of people wanted them to just hold off until next year. Now, the clock is ticking while he won't be throwing a baseball at any level, and you don't know what you've got when he does come back, likely, as pointed out upthread, to AAA. This spectacularly blew up in their faces. I'm not on the trade Rodon bandwagon. Build the rotation around him, instead.
  11. Nah, I think I'm cool with Hahn and friends not dealing off their top asset. I'd rather take a chance on his injury history than on the return they get, unless it consists of young, proven MLBers that aren't two minutes away from FA.
  12. It'd be great if he were better defensively behind the plate with the bat he's shown to have.
