  1. I went up to Milwaukee for a Phillies/Brewers game last year. Cliff Lee vs. Randy Wolf. I remember thinking how Wolf seems like the kind of pitcher who would make it less than pleasant for the Sox.
  2. Can't really complain between the injury and the pure bad he's been so far, but I think it could have probably gotten better. 50 sporadic PAs this year isn't really indicative of what he would provide in the long run.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Greg, I bet you didn't know that the Marlins run differential this year is negative 60. The Cubs, a team that you were furious that the Sox were unable to win more than one game against this week, has a run differential this year of negative 56. The Marlins have the 3rd worst run differential in all of baseball. That's inexcusable with that talent. Greg Walker took a job with the Braves, and Georgia is right next to Florida. Sometimes when the wind is just right...
  4. Is it the clock your pitch speed thing? Not sure what section that would be closest to.
  5. Watching Miami at Boston- Road Gray Marlins jersey isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
  6. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:05 AM) ...giving the hapless Cubs hope and momentum. Ehh...for what? A last place finish and 20 games out of first rather than a last place finish and 21.5 games out of first? The City Series as a rivalry was effectively ended by the Sox in 2005, and that was further cemented by the trash that Cubs fans threw at their field one sunny Saturday in July, 2006. Now it's little more than a nuisance if the Sox fail to take advantage of a consistently awful team, and the biggest storyline for two years straight is that the ballparks aren't filled to capacity.
  7. It's still frustrating that this year's interleague record is what it is. Even with a sweep of Milwaukee, 8 losses against the NL is going to feel like such a wasted opportunity.
  8. Scary stuff, because apart from what he said, he speaks normally. If you had the game on as background noise you probably wouldn't notice it. The articles mention that he was trying to say one thing and the wrong words came out- kind of like his wires were crossed, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere whether or not he realized what he was saying or if he heard what he meant to say instead. Go ahead run is at fifth is still great stuff. Second only to
  9. I threw my Friday ticket onto Stubhub for $35 on account of the Aerosmith show at the UC.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) So I had those new McDonald's Orange Artic shakes. They are pretty damn good, and now my burps smell like fruit loops. I tried this today on the way home from work based on this review and the legendary temperature inside my car after parking it and it's black interior entirely away from any sort of shade all day. It's an orange sherbet shake. Decent, but the McDonald's I have right by work is still offering Shamrock Shakes, so my hands are kind of tied.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) LeBron in a world of pain. It's like Christmas/Halloween/your birthday all rolled into one.
  12. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) I hate festival shows more than I like the bands. I prefer the format where there were a ton of individual shows. I keep hearing this everywhere, and it's kind of worrisome to me because I'm set to venture on down to Atlanta in September for Pearl Jam headlining the Music Midtown Festival. Between the price of admission and the long drive down, a let down would hurt considerably more than if this was in Tinley Park or East Troy... Are the sets shorter or watered down at festival- anything along those lines? I've only ever been to two festivals- Ozzfest in 2001 and Pearl Jam 20th Anniversary at Alpine Valley, and in both cases the headliners were my reason for attending, and in both cases I left satisfied. Not sure those would qualify as true festivals since the entire day and roster of bands performing was planned as a lead in for the headliners, unlike the Lollapaloozsa and Bonnaroos where it's a purely random mix of everything.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) No, hes trying to go inside on him. Only Colby Rasmus would think otherwise. Haha yeah, I was poking fun at how discrete he was about that. End of inning on a fly ball, I looked up when he hit that because I heard cheering right when the ball left the bat. Definitely some Cubs fans in attendance.
  14. In 2007, the Sox interleague record was a sparkling 4-14. If you flip those numbers, they're 82-80 instead of 72-90. It doesn't change the outcome of the season with Cleveland and Detroit having 96 and 88 win seasons, but getting railroaded by the NL series after series had to have been demoralizing and affected things to an extent. I abhor losing to the NL.
  15. On the bright side, it could be looked at as a mid-season acquisition if the team remains in contention by the time he returns. :shrugs:
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) lmao. I'm so sad that I somehow overlooked this when it was originally posted.
  17. I'm really not an asshole, so I hope it doesn't come off like I am, but I think the father of Aimee Copeland (the girl with the flesh eating bacterial infection) needs to just stop. Maybe I just have a cynical view of people, but this has seemingly evolved (devolved?) into less about her and more about him (or something of the sort) over the course of things. Whatever it is, he's turned it into a spectacle. I feel really awful for the girl, but way to portray her as the essence of purity and all that is fair when you're dropping lines like that... There's no way Lifetime hasn't approached him about turning this into a movie, but they themselves would probably try to tone it down a bit with the sugar and spice and everything nice fairy tales. It's really unfortunate that this happened to her, but painting it as the greatest injustice suffered by a family ever is the wrong way to go about it. At least she's fortunate enough to be getting treatment. I'm sure there is a good number of people even here in America- forget about the traditionally poverty-stricken nations- that don't make it that far.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 06:14 PM) 1 dead, 1 hurt in Toronto at a Radiohead concert when a metal scaffolding collapsed minutes before fans were going to start coming into the show. Watching a youtube clip of the Indiana stage collapse still gives me the heebie-jeebies a year after the fact.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) Their stadium holds 56,000 people, which makes our stadium look tiny. Last night, the guest service worker guy told me they had 33,000 in attendance. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be to guess the attendance on the video screen between innings out there. I would use it to hustle whoever I'm at the game with every time.
  20. Now that Luis Valbuena jacked a 3 run shot, Podsednik's RBI is the difference in the game. I'm glad he's doing well, even if it is for the team I dislike most in all of sports.
  21. Pat Hughes pronounces Delmon Young Dell-Mohn Young. Verlander is perfect through one batter.
  22. Payback for the 1-0 win in 2006 after outscoring them 3232243423-3 in the first 2 games.
