  1. I'm not sure how they go about compiling their data, but it would be fun to peruse through the ballots of White Sox players from 2004 onward.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) If this hasnt been posted yet, this is the best Derek Jeter story ever http://deadspin.com/5917858/we-have-a-winn...erek-jeter-nsfw Not gonna lie- the inclusion of pwn, OMG, LOL, and noobs kind of ruins it for me.
  3. My sister's fiance's family are Cards fans from Stl, and it just to happens that they are driving up here to the west burbs tomorrow for 2 or 3 days. I hope the next two are as enjoyable as the opener. Peavy tomorrow and then a pitching machine that KW stole from one of those mini golf course & go kart places in the finale.
  4. I'm 25, and when I was a sophomore in HS our Spanish class took a trip to a place called Tango Sur. It was the first and only time I've ever had empanadas, and years later I can vividly recall the taste every so often- completely out of the blue. It's like my tastebuds are having a flashback, and it's beautiful. Tango Sur
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) 4 Reasons the Miami Marlins Are the Tackiest Team in Sports I was stunned when I clicked on this and the home run mechanism (statue?) wasn't all 4 reasons. Then, I noticed that Scott Stapp wrote a song about them and it all made sense. Steve Goodman laughed when he heard about this, and he's dead.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) Palmiero, A-Rod, Juan Gone, Byrd, Matthews, Pudge Some might say it doesn't end there.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Cubs fired hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. Isn't it too early in their rebuilding process to start with the Hitting/Bullpen/Third Base Coaches as fall guys schtick? Must mean that Soler and Almora are almost ready to join Castro and set the world on fire!
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) Radiohead was good. Im not their biggest fan, but they did play both songs that I wanted to hear (Karma Police and Reckoner), they played a lot from In Rainbows which I was a fan of. I think I'm the only person in the world that has Pablo Honey > The rest of their catalog.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) Twitter account is back up, but with no activity. And so it has come to pass.
  10. Listening to Stone on with M&H- how did Zack Greinke's name get mixed up into all of this?
  11. 1-0 count to Alexei Ramirez bottom of 9. Farmer: Chris Snyder runs to the mound to talk to him, what did he say? Throw strikes? lol
  12. If this girl singing God Bless America recorded and released it on cd, it would be a double album.
  13. Watching a stream of Red Hot Chili Peppers @ Bonnaroo- Apart from Foo Fighters, I don't think there is another band that I like and dislike to this extent at the same time. It's weird. Also, the loss of John Frusciante (again) is really, really bad for the relevance of this band going forward, so make him an offer he can't refuse to bring him back or something. When you look past the era of EV Halen/Joe Perry/Slash, he's one of the better modern guitarists. The dude hired to replace him- notsomuch. It's like Ozzy replacing Zakk Wylde with Joe Holmes as a touring guitarist. There's nothing worse than when a guitarist replaces another one who wasa big part of the band for a long long time and plays parts that the departed guitarist crafted and wrote himself. Gun 'N Roses and Slash is a good example of this. Slash's replacement plays a lot of Slash's material better than Slash does from a technical standpoint. It sounds cold and has no feel- I would rather imagine Slash's playing than hearing someone plagiarize it.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) At this point they should rename it the Chris Sale award instead of the Cy Young. They should change the name from Chicago White Sox to Chicago Chris Sale.
  15. Cowley's on the Score till 11 with Joe O. Oh yeah and- This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. Soxtalk encourages a free discussion between its members, but does not allow personal attacks, threats, graphic sexual material, nudity, or any other materials judged offensive by the Administrators and Moderators. Thank you. Kenny Williams has inexplicably become a topic of discussion. Kind of interesting stuff, but I'm not sure the Score does weekend show podcasts.
  16. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) It's hard for me to even wrap my head around the idea of being phased by insects, though obviously a ton of people are. This is a cool one, and highly adaptable, too. I bet being from Florida has something to do with that. We have a place in Seminole that combined, we'll usually spend a month total at over the course of a year. Comparing the diversity of bugs (and wildlife in general) between the two, the Chicagoland area is like a little bowl with a goldfish or beta fish, while Florida is like the Shedd Aquarium. Maybe this is an overdramatic example, but someone living in NYC is going to have a different reaction to a lion encounter than someone living in sub-Saharan Africa. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) So I clicked on the "50 people you wish you knew in real life" article linked after this one. Hilarious. 3, 14, 37, 39, 47, but especially 37 and 47- excellent.
  17. A cool thing about the Roger Waters show that I heard a while back was that because of visuals and the presentation, closer isn't necessarily better. I remembered that today while I was taking a gander at how much tickets were going for on Stubhub. Never really got into Pink Floyd enough to consider going though.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) We get those #14's (fuzzy eyebrows we call them) in the house here. Not even sure what they are - centipedes, millipedes, or something else? What do they eat? Those are centipedes, and they're the worst living creature I've ever encountered. I've never seen a live cockroach unless it was on display behind class somewhere, I've never been stung by a bee, but this is light years worse. When I was a kid, one of those was on a wall in the house. My dad took a vacuum cleaner to collect it. The sound of it getting sucked through the nozzle made an audible noise. Worst sound I've ever heard. I don't even think they bite- the sight of all those legs moving in that wavelike motion is awful. I don't see these guys often, but just this week I went to the bathroom at work as I was leaving for the day and the light were already off. There it was. I took a magazine and killed it- at least I thought I did. I shut off the lights and left, but came back because I forgot a bottle of water that I was taking with me. I looked at the spot where the creature was and it was gone. It played dead until I left. Luckily, I noticed where it was running off to and made sure to conclude it's wretched existence.
  19. What a stupid f***ing jamoke. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/oklahoma-co...ory?id=16520756 Outsourcing jobs to other countries to fatten your pockets, having the nerve to point your finger at the people who lost their jobs as the reason for their plight in order to mask said outsourcing, shedding tears on their behalf and offering to pray for them on top of it- to be able to do all of this in one fell swoop has had me seeing red all morning since I read this article. I hope his business fails and his family ends up on the street.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) Yeah, but with the way Floyd's been pitching . . . Nicely done.
  21. It feels like Carlos Lee has been on the Astros for such a long time. Weird that it's only been since 2007. I know he likes hitting baseballs far in the park a few miles north of the Cell, hopefully coming back here overwhelms him emotionally and he goes 0-for the series. I'll be at the park taking a gander at what may be the AL's worst team in 2013.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 11:58 AM) If John is back next week to pitch in STL or LA, maybe Jordan could pinch hit for him. It would probably spawn a small black hole or mess with the space time continuum if they did that. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) So what shall Jordan's lame, cheesy nickname be? Michael Jeffrey
