  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Flowers 1b That's a weird way to spell Konerko...
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Tourist captures iceberg flipping over Ah, climate change summarized in a 2 minute video with none of the wretched acting found in The Day After Tomorrow. QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) I guess there is now 1002 uses for a dead cat........ This has so much potential. I bet it melts the heart of anyone who is opposed to the utilization of unmanned drones in the Middle East and in the not too distant future, here. How could anyone resist that? There are two possible outcomes stemming from an encounter with that: You're either going to try petting it, or if you've seen one or two lolcat pictures- piss your pants laughing. Neither of those possibilities involve running away and hiding in bunkers and caves.
  3. Stone bringing up the well rested bullpen...
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Konerko scratched. Lillibridge at 1b. No reason given. Must be the $5 tickets. You get what you pay for.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,3160461.column "In Almora, the Cubs have a player the MLB Network's John Hart called "their center fielder of the future.'' The Cubs have a vast and storied history with their center fielders of the future.
  6. Yess. He can do a backflip so there's that.
  7. Draft whoever that is interviewing Heaney.
  8. Wait, so the IIT station will also be used by Red Line during this time? If that's the case, it's not even a story. If it's more than that, it's going to factor into my decision on split season renewal. Driving to Sox games from the West Suburbs is something I never intend on doing again. Forget about the traffic, gas money, parking money, and all that jazz. The last time I drove down there, I had work late. I got there before first pitch and was told to use one of the lots by the park. It was full. Everyone was then directed to IIT- it was full. Two innings were spent in traffic as we inched toward the lot a little further down the street- it filled up a few cars ahead of us. We ask the attendant that just closed the lot where to go- he's not prepared for this question and puts his thumb in his ass. We cross the Dan Ryan and head back towards the park. We're told to return to the original lot we were directed to. After driving back and discovering that it's still closed, and they in fact haven't finished building that parking garage in the 60-90 minutes we spent in traffic, we're told that we should try McCormick Place. Not the half-empty bus-lot right by the US Cellular Field sign, but McCormick Place. The 5th inning is about to begin. Thanks, maybe by the time I get there I can catch the auto show as well. I realize that this was an exception, and most of the time you can park right next to home plate 3 innings into a game, but this was absurd. Union Pacific West to Red Line exclusively after that.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) I heard somewhere that after his career he could rejoin the Sox in a latin american scouting capacity It would be great to see him back in the organization when he's done playing.
  10. Damn. One of my favorites from the WS era. I was thrilled that he wound up on my NL rooting interest afterwards. Whatever he decides to do, I wish him well.
  11. Barry Zito 8.1 IP, 4 hits in a 2-0 shutout of the Cubs. He's 5-2 with a 3.41 ERA on the year.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) GORDON'S PARENTS! Haha it's funny but it's true. Find a way to put them on payroll.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:33 AM) Lol, research Brewers' Lucroy and how he injured himself with the help of his wife. Unbelievable. Wow, not sure how, but I quoted the wrong article in my post. Lucroy's ridiculous injury is what I was referring to. There are so many good ones in all of the major sports. It's almost to the point that unless an injury happens during a game where everyone can see, there will be an absurd story.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) Um, no. Ok yeah nm. I was assuming it was something along the lines of a hit that was ruled an error.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) Hope people are watching MLB Network. However, looks like it might be a "tainted" no hitter, as ump blew a call that should have been a hit for Beltran. They can go back and correct this, no?

  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Bowden was supposed to be the "Kid come home" great story/steal from Boston. I does not understands, theo is god. how he do this wrong? Mind the lightning bolts the next time you're outdoors.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) Starlin Castro is barely an all-star. Truth. I just thought that perhaps two years into anyone's career is a ridiculous time to start the HOFer discussion.
  19. Accidentally forgot to turn off the radio when I found out that Laurence Holmes was sitting in for McNeil, who was on another one of his vacations. Listened to him defiantly announce that he's not sure at this point if Starlin Castro is a Hall of Famer. Castro was called up on May 7 2010, so it's been 2 years and change. If you separate the time Larry Holmes spends being a Dan Bernstein parrot from everything else, he has absolutely nothing. The creepy on-air fascination with women (particularly those in Chicago media) is really uncomfortable.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) Morrow OK after taking liner to right leg By Gregor Chisholm / MLB.com | 05/31/12 12:08 AM ET TORONTO -- The Blue Jays narrowly avoided a devastating injury on Wednesday night, when after taking a batted ball off his right shin, Brandon Morrow came away with only a contusion. Morrow sustained the injury during the seventh inning of a 4-1 victory over the Orioles, and things originally appeared much worse. The right-hander was struck by a line drive off the bat of Wilson Betemit, and his right foot immediately went numb. He feared the worst, that his leg might have been broken, but X-rays came back negative, and he is listed as day to day. play video "It hurt a lot, my foot was numb, and then it felt like it was swelling up," said Morrow, who allowed just one run in 6 1/3 innings and earned the win. "I guess there's a nerve in there that it hit or something, but luckily it hit the muscle on the side of my shin. An inch or an inch and a half over, and it could have been a different story." Morrow isn't scheduled to pitch again until Wednesday because of a pair of looming off-days. The extra rest normally would be a nuisance for a pitcher looking to stay on a regular schedule, but in this case the added time should be enough to prevent Morrow from missing an outing. " just got done icing it, and it's feeling OK now," he said. "The more I walk on it, the better it feels. "I'm standing and moving around on it OK. [it's] just a bruise, so we'll just keep working on it and should be all right. Those two days off in between helps out a lot." Professional Athletes find the darndest way to hurt themselves.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) And given some of the turnarounds we've seen, isn't it possible that Morel, healthy, could somehow start to produce? All they need to do is destroy every calendar he has access to and then lie to him that it's mid-September and the Sox have been eliminated from playoff contention. If he starts catching on just laugh at him and tell him that he's crazy.
  22. That image of the one eyeball with no eyelid that looks like it's just floating there on some strawberry jello will be with me for a long time.
