QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2012 -> 08:04 AM) Funeral is today, right? Farmer mentioned it was. He seems to be taking this hard; 4 days later he's still reminiscing about Moose pretty frequently.

Yeah, I know the US did, I'm just marveling at the fact that the Soviets (at the time) felt compelled to throw what I'm assuming is billions to design a plane specifically built to ferry their orbiter(s) when there was already a solution for that. It looks even worse when you take into account the failure of their shuttle program- one unmanned flight and it was decommissioned. Their shuttle even sucked as a museum exhibit- the building it was being stored in collapsed and destroyed it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) Here's the winning photo from the Enterprise flying to New York today. It's cool that they are able to do this with a 747. Russia felt like it needed something an itsy bit bigger for their shuttle.

Towards the end of last season and throughout the off season it wasn't uncommon to run into posts about unloading Adam Dunn if there was anyone willing to take him. Ideas such as Dunn for Alfonso Soriano were being thrown out there. It was baffling.

Why are the Sox playing so poorly at USCF?

Psychological weakness. Metrodome Syndrome. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) The weather needs to be a tad bit warmer so those hard hit balls go farther for the Sox. Is that it? At lest that's what we are always told The thing about that is the opponent plays in the same conditions. I'm not sure why this excuse isn't scrutinized anytime it is used. It isn't just the Sox who hide behind this either. -
Damn, that's sad to hear. I loved it when he would sit in with the radio broadcast for an inning or two- it was great stuff. RIP

Huh. Almost forgot that today is the reason Mel Kiper Jr. is employed by ESPN and makes more money than most of the guys he talks about ever will. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) Game. Too soon? On the bright side, it's not as maddening as Buehrle putting down the first 17 Twins before they sunk him with dinks and donks in 2009. -

Rongey's show is usually worth listening to after games like this. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:01 PM) Diablo III and that seems to have a moderate set of requirements I wasn't thrilled to find out one of those requirements is maintaining an internet connection at all times, even if you just want to play single player. I've never met an internet connection that is 100% reliable. Additionally, if there are problems on Blizzard's end of things, no one plays.

That reminds me of this. Saw it a long time ago and it still makes me chuckle.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 02:15 AM) The Royals care...the Royals are already resigned to losing Hosmer and Moustakas after year 6 of their contracts, or even $30 million for Aroldis Chapman. To be fair to the Royals, they're going to terrorize the rest of the American League any day now and all of the Postseason revenue coming their way will allow them to sign whoever they want for however much it takes to sign them. Children in a candy store will show better self control.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 07:41 AM) He threw out the first pitch last night...and he swapped spots with Michael Young and made the throw from home to 2nd. Pretty accurate throw too. It's fitting that he would have a conference with his battery-mate even for this. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Where the hell are the fathers/brothers/uncles/other family members of these women? If my daughter ever got virgin tested by the police there would be hell to pay. What an ass-backwards part of the world. Because that's the way it works over there, fathers/brothers/uncles/etc. are probably just fine with that. There have been instances here in the US that male family members acted violently towards a female if it was even suspected that she was somehow dishonoring the family. That can be anything from hanging around with people they don't approve of to wearing clothes they don't like to sleeping around. It's hard for us to grasp how this can go on, but it's just as hard for them to understand our way of life, or for someone to understand the mindset of people that lived 200 years ago and were all about slavery. I'm 100% sure if any of us were born and raised over there, we would see nothing wrong with it. I'm grateful that I wasn't.

The Wrigleyville girl in whose company Jake was photographed must have been the pitching version of slumpbuster.

Nice to see that Dunn/Konerko are finally the HR factory everyone anticipated they would be. Better late than never.
