  1. Easy mistake to make during that kind of moment. Boers and Bernstein replayed it a few times- Should be in the first hour podcast.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) You obviously didn't check www.didbrendanryanswing.com Similarly, would Dwayne Wise' perfect game preserving catch have counted in the NFL? http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8627113 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYO2ytBk-So
  3. I'm thrilled as hell that the Sox were willing to identify and obtain a guy like Humber- with the approach Kenny and his friends employ, there should be an Humber or Quentin once in a while that makes 29 other GMs bolt to their Pearle Vision for checkups. What I'm having a little bit of trouble with is the frequency that Perfect Games have happened at in recent times.
  4. This, along with Adam Dunn makes it feel like an entirely different team than last year. I'm of the belief that hitting coaches serve little purpose other than being a fall guy if the team is struggling, but if this keeps up, Jeff Manto gets a statue. Not even on the concourse or in front of the park. In the field of play like Monument Park used to be.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) I will walk around the stadium tomorrow in my Viciedo shirt yelling "fock this club. I should manayer."
  6. It's easy for me to enjoy because I really wanted Dunn and Peavy to contribute to the Sox- not be their downfall.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) My mind is completely blanking. How did the ALDS end? With an embarrassing display by Chris Berman, who wept audibly as he called the last 3 innings of the game.
  8. Headline writers for the two big papers in the city are failing if Appreciate the Perfect Game isn't adorning the front of the sports section.
  9. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) The Humbler When I was listening to him speak after the game, Humble Humber struck me.
  10. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) One that was crafted up in under 60 seconds, I'm sure. Like I said, future targets for acquisition have to have names that are conducive to clever headlines. ESPN has "Humber Games".
  11. I remember being pissed off last year that Humber was starting the first game I attended of the season. As the year went on, I wasn't too happy that the great season Humber was in the midst of was being wasted by poor performances by Dunn and Rios among others. Coming into this season, I forgot Humber was part of the rotation. I respectfully apologize to Philip.
  12. One of the most frustrating parts of 2011 for me was watching Humber's great year wasted because some of his teammates couldn't get their s*** straight.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) On a night like tonight, I can't help but think of the dumb f***s that booed Dunn last week. Idiots that didn't see the improvement in spring training I guess. This. Everybody knew that frequent strikeouts were part of the deal after his acquisition. It was the price of doing business for what was supposed to be 40 or so HR a season. Every time I get the chance to listen or watch a game, the booing is right there with every strikeout. It's almost as if his 2011 stats carried over to 2012. The nearly record setting number of K's wouldn't get the reaction they did last year if he was launching the ball as well.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Oh hey Adam Dunn. It's as if the joyous feelings that came with his acquisition are coming back after being profoundly dampened by the 2011 season.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) Not just a walk-off HBP. He hit batters on back-to-back pitches to end the game. I'm trying to imagine what that would be like if it ended a World Series game 7.
  16. Turning the game on in time to watch the opposition's starter leaving in the 2nd inning down 6 is great, but based on past experience, frustrating. Never seems to go according to plan. Dunn is fixed. A statue of the new hitting coach should be nearing the end of the design process and hopefully in place by All Star Break.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) What you and your "reasoned logic" have to understand is this board has several "old school" individuals that are so Chicago tough, so Clint Eastwood-like, that their fire and passion doesn't allow for common sense crap like that. These guys are rough and tumble, take no quarter, and still make the world go around from their rocking chairs. Not one percenters, that's for sure.
  18. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) De Aza, A, CF Lillibridge, B, 3B Dunn, A, 1B Konerko, P, DH Rios, A, RF Ramirez, A, SS Viciedo, D, LF Flowers, T, C Escobar, E, 2B Hopefully Beckham will flourish in this new spot.
  19. The Cubs should be all but done when Miami rolls up to Wrigley. I really hope Zambrano/Buehrle/Guillen don't unreasonably inflate prices on Stubhub. Last year at the end of July, prices were well on their way to the $2-$3 per seat that they were going for in August/September.
